A car dealership in Hyde has been hit with more than £20,000 of fines and costs by Tameside magistrates after being found guilty of trade descriptions offences.A number of vehicles at American Pickup Trucks Ltd of Pitt Street, Hyde, were found to have incorrect mileages, misleading prices and incorrect advertising details.At a trial at Tameside Magistrates Court on 8 August, American Pickup Trucks was found guilty of five separate offences under the Trade Descriptions Act 1968 and Consumer Protection Act 1987 Part III, misleading price indications.They were fined a total of £20,000 — £4,000 for each offence. Costs of £1,800 were also awarded to Tameside Council.The company was taken to court after a protracted investigation by the council’s Trading Standards office, following complaints from two people that had dealings with the company.
