When you're wounded and left on Afghanistan's plains....

When you're wounded and left on Afghanistan's plains,
and the women come out to cut up what remains,
Just roll to your rifle and blow out your brains,
and go to your God like a soldier.
Rudyard Kipling,  Advice for the young British soldier.

The fate of a British Soldier who fell into Afghan hands was well known in the 19th century. Things do not change. The Marine Sergeant found "Guilty" of killing a wounded afghan would have been considered perfectly normal in those more realistic days. And it is a certainty that no Victorian "Peeler" (Policeman) would have instigated a prosecution of a Tommy.

However, one is reminded of the "Breaker Morant" incident in the Boer war where three Australian Officers were tried in South Africa for killing Boer Prisoners, even though they were obeying if not superior orders then superior policy. There were peace talks in the offing and the British had to show that they were even handed. Two shot colonial officers was considered a cheap price to pay for bringing a stubborn enemy to the conference table.

One cannot but wonder?

The sergeant who put the dying Taliban fighter out if his misery should not have been prosecuted. It is war far fcucks sake. This country is becoming the laughing stock of the world for good reason. Did you hear about the Royal Navy slashing thousands of ship building jobs and closing the 500 year old ship building facility at Portsmouth, well guess what I was told tonight, the Royal Navy are now having ships built in South Korea. It is truly mind Böblingen and where will this madness end?

On this day 90 years ago in a beer hall a revolution started. Raise a glass and drink a bier in honour of the heroic efforts of those who tried to save European civilization.

Agreed, I shall raise a toast, specifically to the sixteen martyrs who fell in the name of National Socialism 90 years ago.
To the fallen!

A former Russian special forces soldier I used to know served on the Afghanistan border in the mid 70s before the Soviet invasion. Some of the things he told me were bloodcurdling, Every soldier of every rank had a pistol for suicide in case of capture by the Afghans. It was apparently still Afghan standard practice to let the women cut prisoners to pieces, starting with the genitals, after interrogation was finished.

The corrupters of children whether overt or disguised as 'educators' should all be killed.

Was it Rudyard Kipling who invented cakes who gave soldiers in Afghanistan that advice?
