The latest harrowing tale from Tameside hospital

Man phoned police when Tameside hospital ‘ignored’ wife’s pleas for help

A grieving husband has told how he phoned the police because his seriously-ill wife couldn't summon help from nurses from her hospital bed. Paul Callan, 54, says he made panic phone calls after his wife Bridget called him from Tameside Hospital to say she feared she was about to go into a ‘diabetic hypo’. Mrs Callan called her husband to say she had been pressing her emergency buzzer to try to get a drink for 20 minutes.

Tragically Bridget, who had been admitted for a chest infection, died four days later. The great-gran of seven passed away from chronic heart failure and lung disease – and an infection of C-difficile she had picked up during her week-long stay in Tameside. Mr Callan said: “What happened to Bridget in Tameside was terrifying. She rang me around 4am one morning and said she had low blood sugar. Read more here: Manchester Evening News

Another tragic case to add to the already scandalously long list of tragedies at this hospital. I am sure most people would be filled with dread should they be informed they are to spend time at this hospital as an in patient. Not only was Mrs Callan unable to summon help, also note that she become infected with C-diff while in the hospital being treated for a separate problem - so sad, RIP Mrs Callen. Tameside Citizen

The problem with all hospitals nowadays is that there are too many managers and not enough nurses.

The hierarchy at Tameside Hospital must take the blame for all the recent problems. The nursing staff on my recent visits all seem dedicated to their profession, there's just not enough of them to cope with the workload.

How can this MP pretender A. Gwynne sit grinning in the House of Commons in recent years as the Shadow Health spokesperson whilst he has done nothing to safeguard lives at Tameside Hospital.
This is not funny Gwynne your feeble and cowardly when it comes to taking your friends in the Hospital administration and your Councillor sycophantic
pals on Hospital Committees
who have done nothing to stave off the deaths over years.
This latest farce of sending in Inspectors last week to investigate the disgusting treatment offered, and surprise surprise they gave the Hospital several weeks to tart up the system, move people around, hide evidence etc,and call that an objective inspection.
The Hospital have been guilty for years for Tamesiders deaths so don`t
blame the Health/Tory easy excuse because many people were dying and killed because of Tameside Hospital when your brain dead Labour Government was in power for years and they turned their back on your
constituents whilst the local District Coroner kept investigating the Hospital and constantly found it not fit for purpose over years.
I would sacrifice without doubt my friends at the top of the Hospital administration
and also your fellow Labour Councillors involved for years on Hospital panels, committees, scrutiny units(and thats a laugh)
and get extra pay for backing the administration
because the dross have to stick together whilst folk are meeting the end of their lives because you and your political mates concentrate on retaining power at the expense of the dead.
The PCT`s and now CCG`s plus those Councillors on
Health panels have Tamesiders blood on their hands, they know it,like you do but personal power dictates a need for silence
because your cemented together in the cess-pit you have created.
I note your mate and the friends of the Harrisson KFC project have achieved your requirements to introduce what is the biggest illuminated drivers distraction ever seen.
I hope everyone who is ever involved in accidents seek financial awards from Andy Cush and Ms Sandra Stewart in their senior roles in this money making scheme once again for your mates what happened to your announcement that £5 million was going to be spent because this location was an eyesore and was holding up developers plans, well that vanished in the time scale you stated.
but its the old story you gob it to your local press mates and then slink back into your bunker because that`s always been your style and your E.Mails to me might be of interest to other Tamesiders who challenge you.

Why not phone your MP direct at home where he and his TMBC Councillor reside if you cannot get a bed pan,or get overdosed on prescribed medicines,or cannot get water supplied if bed ridden,or assistance with feeding because of your condition,or have a complaint about your treatment at all seeing Mr.Gwynne is a leading Shadow Health spokesperson in the House of Commons for all Health matters and the service you get.
Now that`s a common sense approach to these continuing problems at the Hospital.
He cannot dodge your complaints bearing in mind his role as a leading Health Service Labour spokesperson in the most important UK power house, and a having a direct responsible role in the UK in looking after your health and well being.

A word of warning if you place your elderly relative in St Laurence's Lodge Care Home in Denton.
I don't know what it's like know.
But a number of staff were sacked for stealing of the elderly residents.
A number of night staff were sacked for being asleep when an elderly resident lay on the floor.

Tameside Citizen said...

Could you please back up those claims regarding St Laurence's Lodge? It is unfair to name it without any supporting evidence. As far as I know you could be the owner of a rival care home spreading disinformation to harm the reputation of a rival home?

Off course I can, it's very close to me. CERTAINLY I CAN ANYTIME!
My partner's mum lay on the floor while they were all F...... asleep.

Long-term traffic pollution exposure linked to atherosclerosis said...

New data suggest that long-term exposure to fine particulate matter from traffic pollution may be associated with increased risk for subclinical atherosclerosis.

Previous research has shown that close proximity to traffic noise increased risk for MI; however, the specific cause of this increased risk was unknown.

Hagen Kälsh, MD, from West-German Heart Center in Essen, Germany, and colleagues examined the cause of increased CV risk associated with traffic — traffic noise, particle pollution or both. Researchers used baseline data (2000-2003) from the population-based German Heinz Nixdorf Recall Study of 4,814 participants (mean age, 60 years). Participants were assessed based on proximity to high traffic volume and measured via CT for thoracic aortic calcification as an indicator of atherosclerosis.

Results showed that proximity to major roads and small particulate matter (PM2.5) were associated with increasing thoracic aortic calcification. For every increase in particle volume up to 2.4 mcg/m3, the degree of calcification increased by 20.7%. For every 100-m proximity to heavy traffic, the degree of calcification increased by 10%. The researchers also observed a borderline increase in thoracic aortic calcification for nighttime noise (3.2% per 5 decibels). Associations of PM2.5 and road traffic noise were independent of each other.

The results were presented at EuroPrevent 2013.

“These two major types of traffic emissions [fine particulate matter air pollution and traffic noise] help explain the observed associations between living close to high traffic and subclinical atherosclerosis,” Kälsh said in a press release.

In another study presented at the meeting, French researchers reported that all main air pollutants, including carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide and particulate matter measured as PM10 or PM2.5, were significantly associated with increased risk for MI. The only pollutant not implicated was ozone.

But in some areas, such as Brent, North-West London, more than 50 per cent claimed they did not feel safe, while in Hartlepool, Co Durham, St Helens, Merseyside, and Tameside, Greater Manchester, more than 40 per cent said social care services did not make them feel safe.

.........................
An interesting post, from this poster and I have also taken an interest in this subject and found a mass of information why 3.5 million per year now die from air pollution.

30th May 2013 http://ec.europa.eu/environment/integration/research/newsalert/pdf/330na3.pdf
The strongest link identified was between traffic pollution and death from ischemic heart
disease, which is characterised by fatty deposits and narrowing in the arteries around the
heart. The analysis accounted for other factors that might lead to ill health, including age,
sex, marital status, education, occupation and smoking.
Risk of death increased steadily with increasing exposure to pollutants. This suggests that, in
general, someone living closer to heavy traffic for several years will be more likely to die of
cardiovascular causes than someone living further away for the same amount of time. In the
study, those who lived less than 50 metres from a busy road were significantly more likely to
have died during the study period compared to those living more than 250 metres away.
The authors note that the pollutant exposures considered in their study are close to the
current European standards. Concentrations of PM2.5 in Rome were estimated at around 23
micrograms per cubic metre (µg/m3
), against a European standard, to become binding in
2015, of 25 µg/m3
. Concentrations of NO2 were estimated at 44 µg/m3 against a European
standard of 40 µg/m3

Traffic pollution bad for the kidneys said...

People who live close to major roads may have an increased risk of suffering from kidney problems, a new study suggests.

According to US scientists, impaired kidney function is a known risk factor for heart disease and stroke, so the findings could further explain why air pollution is so bad for the health of the heart.

The scientists looked at over 1,100 adults who had suffered a stroke over a five-year period. Half lived within 1km of a major road, while the remainder lived between one and 10km away.

On admission to hospital, each patient had their serum creatinine measured.

This is a byproduct of muscle metabolism, which is filtered out of the body by the kidneys. The rate at which this happens is known as the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and this acts as an indicator of how well the kidneys are working - the higher the rate, the healthier the kidneys.

The study found that those who lived closest to major roads had the lowest GFR. The results stood even when other factors were taken into account such as age, gender, smoking and heart conditions.

The scientists noted that those who lived 50 metres away from a busy road had a GFR that would be expected to be found in someone who was four years older, compared to people who lived 1,000m from a busy road.

They also estimated that living just 50m away was linked to a 4% higher rate of heart-related death and a 1% increased rate of death from all causes compared to living 1,000m away.

The scientists from Boston said that traffic-related air pollution increases the risk of heart disease and stroke due to a number of reasons, including a narrowing of the arteries as a result of the build-up of plaque.

They pointed out that the kidneys are very susceptible to the build-up of arterial plaque and added that these results therefore imply ‘that exposures associated with living near a major roadway contribute to reduced renal function, an important risk factor for cardiovascular events'.

Details of these finding are published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health.

Death to traitors said...

Labour shipped in millions of Third World immigrants to replace their dying core vote. The plan was hatched by a Labour cabal after Kinnock's defeat in the 1992 general election. In the 80s and 90s Labour lost millions of voters to the Conservatives.
The traitor scum Labour Party couldn't care less about the chronically destructive ongoing effects of their planned immigration tsunami, they only cared and still care about gaining power.

Traitors Justice said...

The huge increases in migrants over the last decade were partly due to a politically motivated attempt by ministers to radically change the country and "rub the Right's nose in diversity", according to Andrew Neather, a former adviser to Tony Blair, Jack Straw and David Blunkett.

He said Labour's relaxation of controls was a deliberate plan to "open up the UK to mass migration" but that ministers were nervous and reluctant to discuss such a move publicly for fear it would alienate its "core working class vote".

As a result, the public argument for immigration concentrated instead on the economic benefits and need for more migrants.

Critics said the revelations showed a "conspiracy" within Government to impose mass immigration for "cynical" political reasons.

Mr Neather was a speech writer who worked in Downing Street for Tony Blair and in the Home Office for Jack Straw and David Blunkett, in the early 2000s.

Writing in the Evening Standard, he revealed the "major shift" in immigration policy came after the publication of a policy paper from the Performance and Innovation Unit, a Downing Street think tank based in the Cabinet Office, in 2001.

He wrote a major speech for Barbara Roche, the then immigration minister, in 2000, which was largely based on drafts of the report.

He said the final published version of the report promoted the labour market case for immigration but unpublished versions contained additional reasons, he said.

He wrote: "Earlier drafts I saw also included a driving political purpose: that mass immigration was the way that the Government was going to make the UK truly multicultural.

"I remember coming away from some discussions with the clear sense that the policy was intended – even if this wasn't its main purpose – to rub the Right's nose in diversity and render their arguments out of date."

The "deliberate policy", from late 2000 until "at least February last year", when the new points based system was introduced, was to open up the UK to mass migration, he said.

Some 2.3 million migrants have been added to the population since then, according to Whitehall estimates quietly slipped out last month.

TC I spoke to Mr Paul Wilson (new charter solicitor) he explained to me, that he, Alan Kibble, Ivan Wright don't have a set time when it comes to monitoring me on the internet.

knowledge is the antidote said...

Why would New Charter have an interest in monitoring this blog? The predictions about the propaganda offensive following the murder of Drummer Lee Rigby were chillingly accurate. The Queen visited Woolwich barracks and a black soldier was there to welcome her. When the camera panned it paused on a group of nearby Asian women 'paying their respects' and then it cut to someone signing a book of condolence, you couldn't see the person signing because the camera was focused on a black hand doing the signing. There's lots more of this subliminal propaganda being used all the time. If you study the methods used you will eventually become immune to its message.

Remember, that, Paul Wilson Copied comments off this blog and wasted the time of a County court judge.

I'm new to this blog and I am not a numpty. Who are these people, Wright and Wilson, are they police or government officials?

Oh Sorry did not mean to cause offense. Wilson and Wright work for new charter housing.
Both of them monitor this blog.

Thank you, and that was my original question. Why would a house building company wish to monitor this blog? Is this blog illegal in England and do they monitor on behalf of the police?
