The end of the line for the Tameside Reporter and Glossop Chronicle?

If you have not yet bought a copy of the latest edition of the Tameside Reporter, now might be a good time to do so, as sadly, the current edition may very well be the last, and as a result, the current edition may very well one day become a collectors item.

If you click the image above you will read a brief statement from the editor of the paper explaining the current situation. It is possible that New Charter may come to the rescue and buy the title, but as an independent local newspaper it looks like end is nigh.

Unfortunate. Now we'll only have the leftist MEN/Guardian to provide us with the local news in the form of the Labourtiser. The Reporter wasn't exactly unbiased but it was always the better option. The weekly local history section was particularly interesting - even though a certain Dukinfield councillor would use it to periodically take us on his own trip down memory Lane. For a paper that has endured for so long to fold, it could be indicative of generational changes. I don't think younger people really take much interest in local affairs (and who can blame then given the state of the area and country at large).

I like Kate Middleton, she carries herself well and acts and dresses in a, shock horror, FEMININE way, i.e. no tattoos, no wearing trousers all the time and generally she doesn't try to act like a man. But the fuss about her picturesis a storm in a teacup (or should that be C-cup).
The monarchy needs scrapping, the present incumbent has behaved consistently for 60 years. She has consistently gone with the flow whther on falling standards, immigration or national decline in general, inspirational she isn't. The Windsor family's overwhelming priority is the Windsor dynasty and Britain has suffered unprecedented decline during her reign with virtually no comment from her. If she's got influence 'behind the scenes' it's either useless or negative.

She's done her job and not made many gaffes but she and the rst of them have just took the easy course.
The monarchy is supposed to defend our nation in whatever way is at their disposal and in this she's failed abysmally as Britain has been deluged by planned mass, uncontrolled immigration.
If there IS nothing she could have done there's no point in her being there.

All the flower buyers and other emotional bandwagon jumpers would be better trying to do something that would help stop repeats of such events, such as writing to the Home Secretary to DEMAND the return of the death penalty (as I have) for beasts like this.

Tameside Citizen said...

I knew the tragic events in Hattersley would draw out the 'Hang 'em and flog 'em brigade. No right thinking person could support the reintroduction of the death penalty when the shamefully high number of miscarriages of justice in this country are taken into consideration.

Try this little experiment and you will see what I mean. Log onto a search engine such as Google or Bing and type in ‘wrongfully convicted UK’ or similar. You will be horrified to see the vast number of innocent people who have been wrongfully convicted of serious crimes.

To the ‘hang `em high’ type of angry Daily Mail reader, the odd innocent person being executed would be a price worth paying, and cases such as the Hattersley tragedy is manna from heaven to them as far as their argument is concerned. They would argue that ‘the accused’ is guilty beyond doubt and that he should be executed, and if the truth be known many supporters of the death penalty would be happy to dispense with frustrating red tape such as Due Process or even a trial and some undoubtedly would welcome summary execution, especially if the accused ‘looked’ guilty.

That argument aside, there is another reason why the introduction of capital punishment should be opposed. Imagine David Blunkett, Harriet Harman, Peter Mandelson, or any of the other spawn of Satan Labour ideologues given the power of life or death following the introduction of martial law in the aftermath of a popular uprising following their re-election at some time in the future? The prospect is frightening beyond imagination!

Once again the anti-rope brigade bleat endlessly about those poor innocent dead through wrongful conviction, whilst conveniently keeping their mouths shut about the far greater number of innocents dead with the staggering rise in homocides following abolition. The abolitionists like one-sided arguments. I recall some of the anti-rope dramas and films which devote most of the story to the heart rending plight of the executed with little or no time devoted to the murder victim's ordeal.

A machine designed to inflict excruciating agony over a prolonged period would be the best deterrent.
The convicted murderer/paedophile etc would be placed inside the machine and suffer extreme torture for a set amount of time until they are killed. It could also be used on multiple repeat offenders for lesser crimes: Three convictions for burglary; Two for armed robbery etc.
I guarantee the massive deterrent effect would decimate crime figures to near zero.
The main advantage would be that the total mechanisation of the punishment, with no human involvement or witnesses to the suffering would forestall the arguments of bleeding hearts and other assistants of Satan.

Tameside Citizen said...

There can be no exceptions. How ever heinous the crime, there is either a death penalty or there is no death penalty. The person responsible for killing the two officers should be jailed for life.

Many years ago, I voiced an opinion on a person who was convicted of killing PC Keith Blakelock in the Broadwater Farm Riots in London. The person convicted was a gentleman who went by the name Winston Silcott. I was as disgusted as everyone else at the hacking to death of PC Blakelock, I had been following the hysterical media reporting of the case, then I saw a picture of the prime suspect Winston Silcott. Never mind the evidence, the picture along with the media reporting convinced me that Silcott was guilty and I publicly stated that he should executed. Silcott was eventually freed and awarded compensation as he had been wrongfully convicted following a police fit-up involving fabrication of evidence.

I know using Silcott as an example will give you ammunition to fire back because as we know, he was also convicted of another murder during the 1980’s. But the point I am trying to make is; the justice system in this country is broken. Regular readers of this blog will need to look no further than the politically motivated persecution of Roy West to see how damaged our ‘justice’ system actually is, so bearing that in mind, how any right minded person can wish for the reintroduction of the death penalty is beyond me.

To put it in plain English, due to our broken system of justice, it is better that convicted killers are jailed rather than executed, because as we know all convicted killers are not always guilty, and this means that when fit-ups and injustices are uncovered, the victims can be released. This means compensation rather than a hushed up posthumous pardon. Ask the ghost of legally murdered innocent Timothy Evans or any of the other countless victims who paid the ultimate penalty which option they would have preferred.

Evans and Silcott: one who may have been guilty but convicted of the wrong murder; plus one murdere and hardened criminal are the 'strengths' of your argument.
DNA would have cleared Evans (if innocent of both murders) and Silcott had it been available and of course guarantees beyond any reasonable doubt(i.e. not self-indulgent squeamishness disguised as fear of miscarriage of justice) the guilt of the vast majority of modern killers.
Life imprisonment ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH as it in no way reflects the gravity of the crime, and of course the vast majority of 'lifers' are released after about 11 years. If you think a dozen years in a 1st class cell watching free Sky TV and playing computer games is a suitable punishment for taking someone's life you are wilfully deluded.

Why do you have a peculiar obsession with stefan kiszco? It isn't the first time you've been wailing about his particular case on this forum, and like it or not there is far more to this issue than parroting "stefan kiszco end of". You look like a weak chinned milksop, and it's about time you applied some of that hard headed attitude that goes with BNP membership to other issues.

You conveniently ignore the fact that the murder was committed following an unprecedented rise (more than doubled in a decade) in the homicide rate thanks to abolitionists of similar mind to you. There's every reason to suppose the crime would never have been committed in the first place if the likes of Castree had the prospect of a noose in mind.

Do you salute our soldiers on remeberance sunday? Because if you do, you might be interested to learn that killing innocent people is also an unfortunate by-product of warfare between nations. So unless you're some absolute pacifist who rejects any and all forms of violent intervention, you're being a bit hypocritical with your standards. Rather like the many Labour MPs who in one breath will point out the awful prospect of hanging innocent people, and in the next breath are justifying dropping bombs on civilian cities.

Quite simply, when your kind make sure that wrongful hangful is only ever discussed alongside the shocking and rise in murders following abolition, then I'll take you people seriously.

1997: The Bridgwater Four - minus Patrick Molloy, who died in jail - are released after 17 years in prison.

2000: The M25 Three are freed by three Court of Appeal judges who say there had been a "conspiracy" to give perjured evidence.

Forget the bull about DNA will prevent further wrongful convictions. Look at the two innocent lads from Eltham who were recently fitted up and who are currently serving life for the killing of St Stephen. It is certain they will be released when the flawed evidence from the privatised forensic lab is exposed, but that would be of new use to them if they were dead, as would be the case id the death penalty still existed.

More one sided propaganda, don't swallow it.

A murderer IS an executioner, and a murderer's victim IS innocent. So all those hundreds of people slain following the steep rise in murders after abolition is innocent blood on the hands and conscience of the anti-rope brotherhood. And that's saying nothing of the innocents slain by murderers released to kill again.

Also - given the weak sentences handed down to murderers (life rarely ever means life), that in itself is another argument pro hanging. It isn't good enough to simply say life should mean life. The judges and politicians have all proven that where keeping that evil scum behind bars for good is concerned they cannot ever trusted again. Case closed.

The correct punishment for Hamilton, all murderers and multiple repeat serious offenders is death.
The remote possibility of a miscarriage of justice is put forward as a dishonest excuse by the self obsessed and the squeamish to mask their chronic oversensitivity and paranoia about the State, bent coppers etc. All these things, however extremely rare are of course possible and demonstrate the obvious, that the death penalty isn't perfect, but of course no-one can name anything that is.
Just as no-one can supply a genuinely fitting and appropriate alternative punishment for the worst of the worst like Hamilton, Brady, Sutcliffe etc.
Anti death penalty types however have no interest in the victim or doing what is correct but simply want to press their own agenda however absurd, selfish or destructive.

Long-standing miscarriages of justice in the UK said...

I doubt even the most squeamish liberal would object to certain people being executed, such as for example, The Eltham Two, however and as previously stated, it is better that 1000 killers live the rest of their lives locked up in prison rather than one innocent person gets wrongfully executed.

You still have not answered in a clear and precise fashion so I will repeat the question: Would you be happy for innocent people to be executed as long as the guilty were as executed as well?

Re the death penalty: Unfortunately we don't live in a childish fairyland where everything is perfect, and as grown ups in civilisation we have to take balanced decisions, especially on fundamental issues like punishment.
No right minded or well adjusted individual would shrink from making a decision based on infintesimally small probabilities, in any significant area, simply to pursue irrational and selfish agendas.
It's like saying we should NEVER declare war on anyone because innocent people might get killed, an obviously facile position. No-one would be 'happy' about it but it would not alter one iota the correctness of said declaration.
The whole point of this debate is that 'squeamish liberals' DO object to EVERYONE being executed even the worst of the worst like Thomas Hamilton, yet not one of those same bleeding hearts could look the parents of the five and six year old victims in the eye and say Hamilton didn't deserve to be executed. Which demonstrates the utter vacuousness of their argument.
Then there are the hundreds of innocent people who have been killed by released murderers since abolition in 1965, for some reason the abolitionists couldn't seem to care less about them and would prefer such inconvenient truths swept under the carpet.

The four teenage girls who had reported Kiszko for exposing himself (Buckley, Burke, Brown and Hind) played a major part in the trial and were singled out for praise by the Judge. All of course later admitted they had made it up. At the time everyone believed them, but that's the value of hindsight.
As forensic science has moved on so much now, and the police are significantly more likely to be investigated and criticised (one was recently sacked for pushing a drunken troublemaker) the Kiszko conviction would be an impossibility.
If you're so concerned about the death of innocents perhaps you'd care to voice your support for the execution of Ronald Castree who DID kill Lesley Molseed. The ironic thing is if he'd gone to prison in 1976 he would have almost certainly have been released by the mid 90s (thanks to the abolitionists) and been free to do it again, and the recidivism rate for paedophiles is 99%.

I don't blame him for retiring, he must have realised pretty quickly that because he's White and English he was guilty of whatever 'crime' he commited regardless of the verdict.

I don't believe for a second that this next point was any reason for him leaving the England team, but the 'England' team barely represents England or the English anymore, so perhaps it would be nice to think he thought there was no point representing a country that wasn't his own anymore, that won't be the case in his mind, but it's nice to imagine he thought that.

I study demographics intensely and one must consider the death of the two baby boom generations , those of 1945-47 and those of 1963-66, when those two drop off in the next 25 years we will see a sudden and awesome new reality in the population of this country. This FACT has been deliberately hidden from the public but those in power know the score and know that Islam will rule politics and everything else. Will our establishment fight it?? NO, they will try to assimilate but luckily for us the Muslims may just be too arrogant to permit this. In a nutshell, we , as we are now are finished and there is nothing anybody can do to fix it. Demographics (especially these massive changes) are unstoppable.

I'm not one for looking forward to getting old, but at 47, I'm glad I'm not a youngster. I reckon I've got another 25-30 years left and I can watch the twilight of civilisation as we know it. I don't have any kids, so I've nothing to worry about when I'm gone. I shall be selling up and retiring abroad.

I feel sorry for the youngsters of today, who are going to spend their lives living the multiculti dream, whilst living in the global government feudal system.

One of the big reasons the West is in such dire straights is because the 'hippy generation' have abdicated their responsibilities to uphold truth and principles in favor of believing in feel-good 'politically correct' propaganda. Adults are supposed to be responsible for leaving the children of tomorrow something worth looking forward to. To say "I don't have any kids, so I've nothing to worry about when I'm gone" means you are not really human. Not because you haven't had any kids but because you don't care about those who have.

I have read with interest the debate about hanging. I followed the Roy West case with his neighbours with the same keen interest. Fact: not one shread of evidence was produced against Roy West. He was convicted on a good dose of hearsay and a good helping of collusion.
Where was the evidence to secure a conviction.? None is the answer to that it's simply a case of ringing up, Roy West said this and said that to us. HEARSAY!
How can that be a good basis to build JUSTICE on.?
I am totally amazed by the Roy West case and feel distrubed by his conviction.

Seriously, how could anyone even contemplate restoring the death penalty in this day and age. Modern Britain is a dangerous place, especially for patriots. Take a look at this article from the Telegraph today. The PC pc’s are suggesting the dead man MAY have been the victim of a racially motivated attack, yet there is no supporting evidence. The Stephen Lawrence circus started in a similar way, no reliable witnesses, just a suggestion that the offence was racially motivated, and from there the legend grew. This latest case has the same hallmarks.

We know from the news reports that the deceased is Asian, we can also ascertain from the news reports that the suspects are White - hence the suggestion the incident MAY have been racially motivated. In modern Britain, when an incident occurs involving native Brit v immigrant, and the native Brit stands as ‘the accused’, 1000 years of law is turned on its head as the native Brit has to prove that the incident was not racially motivated. Instead of being innocent until proven guilty, the native Brit is treated as guilty until proven innocent.

Okay, you may say I am talking rubbish and no such kind of two tier approach to race issues exist in Britain. You may be interested to read this BBC article about the murder of 30 year old Christopher Yates who was murdered by an Asian gang. Despite evidence from the murderers themselves who admitted to killing Mr Yates specifically because he was White, the State, the judge and their media opinion formers decided that the killing was not racially motivated - hence the reason why you have never heard of the racist murder of Christopher Yates or any of the other countless number of White race attack victims.

Meanwhile in Rotherham today. And yes, you guessed it, of course the multiple rape of numerous White children by immigrant predators was not racially motivated - or that is what the mindbenders would have you believe.

Now really, would you seriously want these people - the mindbenders, to have access to the death penalty as an option?

The point about Stefan Kiszko is that he was deliberately framed. An innocent man, he was not accidently convicted through a mistake, the police lied.

The Police. The people who arrest us, baton charge us, breathalyse us and who prosecute us if we defend ourselves from criminals. The very people charged with protecting the innocent deliberately disobeyed their orders, shirked their duties.

So to answer your question, if a soldier deliberately shirks his duty and disobeys orders which result in the death of the innocent then I will stomsach his punishment.

How will I deal with the rise in murder? Well for a start lets see how many murders are committed by people foreign to this country, so that's all the IRA's victims (The IRA don't consider themselves "Brits"), the 7/7 victims etc. No, this is not a "bash Johnny foreigner" rant but an example of how the state has allowed murderers into society.

Then there are the mentally ill released into society.

There is nothing wrong with the death penalty. The problem is those who have control of it in the UK.

Anonymous said...

"The problem is those who have control of it in the UK" Well said Tony, you are the voice of reason.

@tonydj

Sorry penfold but your argument is fallacious on a number of counts.

First of all, IRA killings on the UK mainland only accounted for a small minority of homicides when the murder rate skyrocketed in the 60s and 70s. As for foreigners - they started coming in during the late 1940s some 16 or so years before abolition when the murder rate was consistantly falling to record lows.

With abolition came an unprecedented jump in homicides - it doubled in just one decade! No-one but a complete imbecile would dismiss any causal link. That doubling was an extra 300 murders EVERY YEAR - were that many innocent people being sent to the gallows every year?? If we beg the question as to how many innocent lives were lost through more murders as opposed to that number who would've been wrongly executed - we can but draw one stark conclusion. The abolitionists are responsible for trail of innocent blood going back decades, and one which continues to run to this very day. But Stefan Kiszco (etc) is the only name ever likely to pass your lips in this debate.

As for police fit-ups - you could use that argument to abolish all forms of punishment. Soldiers in war are meant to only target combatants, but some are corrupt and evil and will deliberately choose to target civilians - an argument against any and all wars perhaps? There is no ideal solution to the reality that is murder, each side is only arguing for the lesser of two evils.

@the game plan is so obvious

In my kind of Britain different people would be running the show, and so called 'racism' would not be a relevant factor in any criminal offence (any more than hairism eyeism or feetism). I'm not requesting that Labour and likes restore capital punishment any more than I'm arguing for them to vote NF. I'm simply arguing the sound justification for its restoration when like minded people are running the show. And whilst I would advocate that all are treated fairly before the law, I wouldn't lose much sleep over the stitch-up of a few red trouble causers (any more than they would over us in the current climate).

"Why do you have a peculiar obsession with stefan kiszco?

The previous 'hearing' on 12th January was SUPPOSED to be for that reason. In fact the Crown Prosecution Service had made an Application to adjourn the hearing as they were 'not ready'. The reason they gave was that they had "asked the police to undertake a large number of actions in respect of the case". On that occasion District Judge Roy Anderson refused to hear my objection to the adjournment (or to hear a single word from me!), which meant it wasn't a 'Hearing ' at all, & was in gross violation of the law.

Anon@11.15 is quite right, this is a peculiarly British issue and I am sure he will agree that no country could match Britain when it comes to the number of wrongful convictions in relation to serious crimes. It is interesting to note that in England and Wales, between 1996 and 2006, 175 people accused of either murder (138) or manslaughter (37) subsequently had their convictions quashed by the Court of Appeal. In all these cases no retrial was ordered. Further to this, 106 (90 for murder and 16 for manslaughter) were then cleared upon retrial. This gives a total of 281 people wrongly convicted for the most serious of crimes. Had the penalty still been available, most of these people would have been executed, but hey, if they were lucky they have received a posthumous pardon.

The system is broken and as long as it remains so, there is no way any right thinking individual could wish for the death penalty to be restored. The likes of Ronald Castree and other convicted murderers are locked up safely behind bars, as undoubtedly are some innocent people waiting to have their convictions quashed, unlike poor Mahmood Mattan and Timothy Evans who are just two examples of people who were wrongfully executed. Timothy Evans even admitted to the crime following police interrogation, despite being not guilty, does that sound like someone who used to post on this blog? But thankfully Judge Berg did not have the power to execute.

From doing a brief study on miscarriages of justice I have come to the conclusion that in most cases the victims are from poor backgrounds and in many cases, such as Timothy Evans and RW, they are vulnerable individuals in their own right. As Tony DJ correctly stated, “There is nothing wrong with the death penalty. The problem is those who have control of it in the UK“.

When the system is fixed and corruption no longer exists, in a time when there is fair representation for all regardless of background or economic status, maybe the death penalty could be discussed. But that day is a long long way away, so in the meantime, the populist knee-jerk hang em` high brigade will just have to amuse themselves with watching Youtube videos of historical hangings until the 'good old days' for which they yearn return.

The abolition of the death penalty in the UK began with the 1957 Homicide Act, which restricted hanging for the following types of murder....

Murder in the course or furtherance of theft; s.5(1)(a)

Murder by shooting or by causing an explosion; s.5(1)(b)

Murder in the course or for the purpose of resisting, avoiding or preventing a lawful arrest, or of effecting or assisting an escape or rescue from legal custody; s.5(1)(c)

Murder of a police officer acting in the execution of his duty, or of a person assisting a police officer so acting; s.5(1)(d)

Murder of a prison officer acting in the execution of his duty, or of a person assisting a prison officer so acting, by a person who was a prisoner at the time when he did or was a party to the murder; s.5(1)(e).

The number of persons convicted of murder in England and Wales (disregarding other homicides like manslaughter) between 1946-56 was.... 31 35 40 33 38 22 41 26 25 30 32 respectively. In other words it was relatively stable (showing no sign of real increase) and averaging 32 a year.

Persons convicted of murder between 1958-1963 were.... 30 42 42 51 31 46. That averages 40 a year - a clear and sudden (albeit modest) increase.

Capital punishment was abolished completely in 1964. Between 1965-74 the number of murder convictions was.... 57 72 64 76 78 99 91 85 83 125 (average 83 a year). In this time period there were only 12 IRA members convicted in England of murder, thus not distorting the figures.

Anonymous said...

PS - in the 1990s murder convictions had hit a record high averaging 215 a year. Not much of an increase from the pre-abolition era average of 32. That hundreds more innocents dead EACH AND EVERY YEAR.

@Freedom, liberty and justice, the 138 people you refer to who had their murder convictions quashed between 1996 and 2006 would never be executed if the death penalty was returned. As in America there would be lengthy and exhaustive appeals going on for years before anyone was executed. ANY doubt whatsoever would result in commutation to life imprisonment.
Why not address all the other points raised like: The hundreds of innocent people killed by released murders since abolition.
The increase in the murder rate.
The nauseating fact that the average 'lifer' serves about 11 years.
Castree (and many many like him) would have been walking the streets for 20 years if he HAD been convicted.
People who take the lives of others DESERVE to have their lives taken in return.
It is the ONLY appropriate PUNISHMENT for murder, particularly heinous killers like Thomas Hamilton (unless you'd care to state clearly that you believe life imprisonment is an appropriate punishment for the cold blooded murders of sixteen 5 and 6 year olds - just imagine the confusion and terror they must have suffered).
As for social status, most criminals in western society come from the lower social strata, so what, does that mean they should be let off. Looking at all the cesspits of the world, whatever your 'social status' you are extremely lucky to live here or in similar countries, in return the only thing expected is to behave within the criminal law, those who don't should be expected to suffer the consequences.
We DO have to be aware of the politicisation of the law but that has no connection whatsoever to the fact that people like Brady, Sutcliffe, Shipman, Hamilton etc etc DESERVE to be punished PROPORTIONATE TO THE CRIME and their vitim's posthumous rights DESERVE to be honoured.

Salvation in Christ said...

Brady, Sutcliffe, Shipman, Hamilton etc etc DESERVE to be punished, yes, and they are punished by losing their liberty in prison. Your argument is weak and the main thrust is revenge rather than justice.

He promptly had them shot without trial.

Life For Life said...

Your argument isn't weak, it's non-existent as you have failed to answer any of my specific points.
No-one can seriously state life imprisonment is an appropriate punishment for the cold blooded murder of sixteen five and six year olds, explain where the 'justice' for the victims is in that.
The abolitionist's priority isn't punishment, justice or the victims, it's their personal distaste for things that make them 'feel bad or uneasy'.
Self-righteous statements about revenge are frankly pathetic, disingenuous and dishonour the victims and belittle the terrifying ordeal they went through before being killed so brutally.
No doubt Castree will be sat in his nice warm cell watching free Sky TV tonight whilst Lesley Molseed has been cold in her grave for nearly forty tears, but as long as the abolitionists don't have to 'feel bad' about themselves these two facts are clearly acceptable to people whose personal agendas are more important than doing what's correct.
