New Charter building houses on a graveyard?

Not sure I would fancy living there. Does anyone remember the film Poltergeist? I'm sure that house was built on a graveyard, but hey - that was only a film.

Are you sure they are building on graves or do the graves just happen to be close by?

What is the problem?

Many houses across our nation are built on the site of disused graveyards, and as many roads get built through them (usually the previous occupants are moved out of the way first - check out the mass headstones at the top of Dukinfield cemetery for example).

Only the most superstitious would have a problem, as you say, Poltergeist was only a film, not a documentary.

Does your intrepid reporter know that the future occupants will NOT be told? Indeed, does he know if they would share his views at all?

It is always interesting to learn what went in beneath the ground we walk / live on, such as the mine workings beneath All Saints College, or lower down Dukinfield at Angel / Chapel Close. Both of which saw disasters which killed a good number of local men and boys, and both of which are put to different use now, at least one having a plaque to inform the interested.

Why do you continue to indulge him TC? If it were a private contractor, he would not be bothered...

There was much better story a couple of years ago about the desecration of st John's church in Longsight. The gravestones were smashed and used as hardcore for the car park of the new Muslim centre that replaced the church. The last butial at that church was only in 1967.

Building over graveyards to build houses that we shouldn't need. New Charter ought to be brought up on charges over it. I for one think disrespect towards ancestors should be punishable by prison time.

More profit for those parasites and an injustice to the dead, typical week in this rotten borough.

disused graveyards that's good en pal. So anything disused is fair game to build on? When ya making £7 million profit every year, I suppose that's fair enough I guess.
And Ian Munro on £200,000 every year.
I guess nothing can stand in charter's way not even the dead.

They'e everywhere in this borough.

Does anyone know what the latest situation is on the government's proposal not to give benefits payment straight to landlords.
It would be the best thing that could happen as ALL landlords would then have an incentive to get decent working people in instead of parasites. Imagine New Charter for example, having to get money out of some of the dross they currently have as tenants, they'd be forced to start renting their properties to RESPONSIBLE DECENT WORKING CITIZENS instead. And the scum could all be put in hostels.

Come on TC, take off moderation.

The sleeping dogs will remain asleep for good.

Derek Adams made a great film in Manchester about the scandal mentioned above. Can anyone retrieve the film? It needs to be seen by as many people as possible.
