Exclusive: Tameside Council's Cosy Relationship with the Tameside Labour Party

Panel Application Form

People who read this blog will have no doubt come across the name of the council's borough solicitor. Commentators on the blog have often accused the borough solicitor of being too close to the Labour Party. Well, this blog can exclusively reveal that is the case according to this Tameside Labour application form to become a Labour candidate. Tameside Council's Chief Executive, Stephen Pleasant is also involved.

According to a leaked document from the Labour Party, aspiring candidates wishing to become a councillor candidates must have their records checked by the Chief Executive of Tameside Council, Stephen Pleasant for their past and present dealings. This would suggest that Tameside Council keeps tabs on residents. The Cheif Executive will also perform a credit check and his findings are passed on to Labour's Chief Whip, which is currently Denton councillor Mike Smith. Who is to say that the Chief Executive doesn't perform similar checks on opposition parties and pass on that data to Labour councillors which could be useful in an election?

Page 3, Point number 4 states:

"As a potential candidate in the local government elections for Tameside MBC in 2012, I authorise the Council’s chief executive to provide any information about my current dealings or standings with the council, which may include financial records as he/she considers appropriate, to the chief whip of the Labour group, whether or not the provision of such information would otherwise be exempt from disclosure under the provision of the Data Protection Act 1998 or any other relevant legislation."

And if you're unsure if you are eligible to stand, you can speak to the borough solicitor, Sandra Stewart for advice. I wonder if Sandra is so keen to assist other political candidates in the run up to elections as she's busy...

Page 5 states:

"It is absolutely essential that every nominee is properly questioned to establish that s/he is both qualified and not disqualified. If there is any question about this – especially arising from employment – s/he must seek advice from the council’s solicitor before being appointed to the panel of approved candidates."

Liam Billington, the blogger who writes the Tameside Eye blog did a FoI asking for communication between the Chief Executive, the Borough Solicitor and Labour's Chief Whip, Cllr. Mike Smith, but was told that the council don't hold the information. Subterfuge from TMBC? Well I never...

I can claim no credit for this exclusive article as it is not my work but I would like to offer a sincere thank you to the disillusioned Labour Party member responsible for providing the information. Tameside Citizen

The Borough Solicitor and the TMBC Chief Executive over many years
have always been the undoubted "Labour Councillors Protectors, plus the Labour Councillors Leading Sycophants, and without doubt in the First Class Gravy Train Seats.
The situation was created by R.Oldham and his merry men years ago,and that`s why Tamesiders have never had real and proper democracy
because most are always thick to work it out or care, and thereby ripped off rotten.
These latest Labour Executives should now be draqged through their own mire in the National Press,in Parliament and fully investigated by the Standards Ombudsman.
Power corrupts it never changes in Tameside and has ruled YOU for at least 30 years.
Science tells us Scum always floats
to the surface and I believe the Tameside cesspit organisation
needs Dyna Rod immediately.
You all should copy/paste this latest blog information to as many press and broadcast media sources as you can, don`t let this instance
get away you have a grenade in your hands (metaphorically)just throw the bugger if you want democracy.
Let`s here it from the Conservative and Liberal as well ???? its time for you all to come clean, break ranks and serve the Tameside people
unless of course you as well are in the Labour Cartel pockets in which case lets have you out as well.

And if anyone threatens the Labour cartel, outdiders will be shipped in to deliver as many illegal leaflets as they please and nothing will be done by Tameside's electoral overseers who like to trumpet their integrity come election time.

Whatever said...

Cobblers, when Wildy parked his Vote Labour advertising vehicle outside of Duki's main polling station on election day she gave him a...slightly reproving look. He seemed really concerned.

Always the one rule for them, you'll never beat it said...

Sandra Stewart clearly stated, that it's nothing to do with her what Labour Councillors get up to on election day.
It sickens me when you see the Dukinfield Conservatives cosy up to Taylor/Wild/Lane at the count.

Ultimately all this is to be expected when a local council is dominated by one party the way TMBC is. And it has to be said - that is the doing of the average Tameside voter. If you want an all-Labour council, then expect to have less opposition and scrutiny and more cronyism.

The Labourtiser printed a letter from a high-ranking council officer a few months back, defending TMBC policy following a rant from a local resident. Employees at TMBC should know that it isn't their place to be a propaganda mouthpiece for the policies of the local Labour clique who currently run the show. They haven't been elected by anybody, and their remit is to simply carry out official duties objectively whilst leaving the rights and wrongs issue to the politicians and the voters.

Bar lady at the Stalybridge Labour club Morag Milne also just happens to have a job as cabinet office secretary to local Labour big wigs - just a coincidence of course....

250 Pennine Acute trust patients to be transferred to the private sector to help improve waiting times.
Posted on January 5, 2012 by Muhammed Shaikh
NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale’s latest performance report states: “It was agreed that to assist with the reduction of ‘backlog’ patients that had waited over 18 weeks, 250 patients would be transferred to Independent Sector (IS) providers.

“The specialist ophthalmology patients have now been treated at IS providers as have most of the trauma and orthopaedic patients (the remainder being sent out in the next three weeks).”
Patients from the trusts general surgery backlog will also be sent to the private sector.
The report went on to say that although the trust had been told by NHS North West that it had to recover its position against waiting times targets by the end of September, targets for admitted patients had not been achieved in September or October.
Pennine Acute Trust’s latest performance report, to the end of October 2011, shows it has not met the target of 90 per cent of admitted patients treated within 18 weeks in any month of 2011-12. However, it shows improved performance in October, missing the target by just 0.2 per cent.
The PCT’s report states that Pennine Acute were delivering against the admitted waits target in 2010-11, but performance deteriorated in April 2011 and the position has not been recovered since.
Pennine Acute’s board report states that a “detailed recovery plan” has been submitted to the SHA, and “specific improvement trajectories for reduction of the 18 week backlog” agreed with PCTs.
It adds: “An 18 Week Recovery Group was established to ensure effective implementation of the improvement plan.
There are senior operational representatives from organisations across the North East Sector. The Recovery Group meet weekly, reporting to the North East Sector Commissioning Board, and the Trust’s Performance Management Group (monthly).”

In six minutes he justifies black participation in last years riots. He claims black people cannot be racist. He twice uses the word which got football pundit Alan Hansen into trouble a few weeks ago. He talks about Tories in Nazi regalia and lots more. What an absolute embarrassment, and to think idiots like this are leeching fortunes from the tax payer, truly incredible!

Now I read of his terrible sadness that a Ducky Pub is on a short list, well good, maybe you will then be able to afford to dress appropriate to your Tameside position.
Few if any Councillors would ever be appointed in the commercial business world to any job, simply alone based on their appearances as they enter Ashton Offices.
Line up all the female Councillors this year and let`s have a Tameside Ms Tameside Councillor beauty contest.

This is no idle boast; this cold, hard FACT, as you see in the near future!

Check out who chose the new Tameside Hospital Chairman Mr Paul Anthony Connellan
and you will find how the tentacles of Labour Councillors and TMBC spread into appointments secreted away for the purpose of maintaing the status quo and
who always support and supported Tameside Hospital present Chiefs.
Now the new Tameside Hospital Chairman Mr P.A Connellan is in a position where he owes his selection to those are named in the above groups.
Such continued nepotism stinks rotten of sleaze as usual in Tameside and I for one cannot see Mr Connellan sacking Ms Christine Green as not fit for purpose because
her close friends are the very people who have now placed Mr Connellan in his top spot.
Even Councillor Parker Perry, and Councillor Brenda Warrington,(nice types)and other Tameside Councillors none of whom have any medical background but remain in the Tameside Hospital hidey hole whilst people and children regularly lay and die through Tameside Hospital negligence as reported by the no nonsense District Coroner.
This is how the Tameside merry go round continues, one move of someone into a gap where another mover has left, all of whom have developed their own tentacles into
area`s of great importance to all Tamesiders welfare.
Its obviously another created gravy train you fund as it grows larger and larger chock full of I will scratch you back mate types.
This huge list of individuals as indicated are themselves complicit over many years in the deplorable sickness and deaths supplied by Tameside Hospital and
until they are routed out one by one. or a mass disposal of them,Your Life,Your Family,Your Friends,Your Children and Grandchildren will remain at high risk because the solid links between these groups are self perpetuating like a rotten virus, who themselves are unfit for purpose based on the solid evidence of years of negligence which
still prevails until these expensive groups are disbanded and peoples welfare is put first not their own flawed appointments who are supposed to
improve and continue to improve the health and welfare of ALL TAMESIDERS.
Nothing to do with present Government Policies it was even far far worse during the Labour Years of dangerous and serious incompetance as folk died and suffered Hospital
inflicted Diseases in Tameside
Where are the objective, transparent,no nonsense, caring people who owe nothing whatsover to anyone except a 100% dedication approach to benefit everyone of the
220,000 people in Tameside regardless of whether they retain their positions amongst the tentacles of Tameside power situations.
Whether it be ALL Councillors.MP`s,Hospital Administrators,GMP.TMBC Executives and other Tameside administrations etc etc a blitz on routing the gravy train passengers out
and quickly.
Please consider these comments as objective based on years of facts,Coroners reports.Mr.Penna ofTameside Hospital findings because besides Labour Councillors you will find Tory Councillors also closely linked, hence the deplorable reluctance to break free of the shackles of collusion, nepotism, self serving power seeking, and personal money engineering.

With regards to the paperwork for aspiring council candidates are you sure you are not imagining conspiracies where none exist here?

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't there legal requirements regarding candidates? I thought you had to be up to date with your council tax etc. and not to have been declared bankrupt etc. to be eligible to take your seat as a councillor. It would appear that the Labour Party is simply making sure that they can eliminate those candidates with a hidden dodgy financial record from their past. I'm sure the procedure would also help highlight candidates with undeclared conflicts of interests and local financial scandals from the past.

Also with regards to sending the forms to a domestic address rather than a council or constituency office this would appear to me to be good practice. Council and constituency offices should be used to work solely on behalf of local residents - and not for party political work. The Labour Party's own administrative business (such as selecting candidates) should be carried out by their local officials at their own expense. Naturally, much of this work is done by volunteers from their home addresses.

To conclude I'm not convinced there is anything suspicious about the information posted on this blog at all. In fact, it looks like the local Labour Party is taking thoughtful and sensible measures here to protect itself and us, as residents, from unscrupulous characters who may try to get elected using the Labour Party's name and local volunteers.

I hope all parties are doing the same.

pull the other one, it has bells attached said...

So your suggesting it is all above board that the council chief exec is handed personal details to vet on behalf of the ruling political regime?

Anonymous said...

Anon 14.30 you're correct. There is nothing wrong nor illegal in this practice. In fact it's good practice. But it gives people on this blog the opportunity to claim all kinds of conspiracies. Having someone checking the appropriateness of candidates as got to be applauded.

Sorry Anonymous but your so incorrect for even existing TMBC Councillor Brenda Warrinton tried to get away with a NO INTERESTS False Declaration in the House of Commons Registerss along with Andrew Gwynne MP, knowing she had 3paid interests as found out by a House of Commons internal inquiry.
She even "forgot" she was a well paid Tameside Councillor on Gwynne`s House of Commons Registers, yet her and Gwynne lived nearby, were close friends and Councillors together on TMBC,and so she tried not to declare 3 not just 1 paid interests on House of Commons Registers.
But there`s more of the bloody cheek even "now" with close friends Gwynne and Warrington ie
Gwynne now declarations: Cllr Brenda Warrington, as Andrew Gwynne's Constituency Agent (an unpaid position) is also a Parliamentary passholder.
Talk about thick skinned sleazy types you would not chuckle.
So even after becoming a Councillor they try and deceive the Tameside Public, and The House of Commons etc.
So having a bag of local political monkeys getting Tamesiders Votes, everyone should be vigilant and watch daily what these types get up to.regardless of their appointed positions
Just hope the Tax people keep an eye on Councillors who have already falsified they have no financial interests.
PS They should have been booted out of the House of Commons and TMBC with the reason you are not fit for purpose in politics YOUR FIRED.
Watch out for the TC Poster "Brenda" throwing her insults out in a ladyklike manner.

All is not well within the local Labour Party. Since the passing of Herr Oldham I am informed people of questionable ability have been vying for power and upsetting party comrades in the process. Roy Oldham run a tight ship and he had the will and intellect to keep any pretenders to his throne in check. Only when he was in the later stages of a terminal illness could those with the intention of undermining his authority and usurping his position make their move. Since then inevitable factionalism has arisen and some people with ambitions and egos far greater than their actual ability are causing waves locally.

Any other Labour Party members who feel unhappy about the current situation are more than welcome to send me information. I am aware that levies on allowances are unpopular and unfair as is the current selection process. Any information received will be treated in the strictest confidence and anonymity is 100% guaranteed.

what the hell is this garbage all about with no actual references to
the Tameside Tory Party.
The most sensible effective thing the Tameside Electorate can do at the local May Elections is not to vote full stop.
Several years ago I had a lengthy private conversation with a visiting major national political party spokesperson on his visit from their London Party Headquarters who stated the absolute worst fear that both Local and National UK politicians have is that the electorate just up sticks and cease to vote on mass regardless of the party concerned.
Is it worth TC expanding on this
point and assisting in creating a mass defection from voting.
If posters and leaflets were available throughout Tameside re Do Not Vote with several clearly defined reasons then I would chip in £50 to establish an administrated printing fund.

Britons are overwhelmingly upbeat about the impact of mass immigration and multi-culturalism on British life, if a survey commissioned by The Observer is to be believed.

Whilst many harbour concerns about the economic impact and immigrant-related crime, they endorse the nations rapid transformation on the basis of cultural enrichment...

"The results revealed that while British people are less positive about immigrants in relation to the economy, they welcome cultural changes brought about by immigration, with people believing it has positively contributed to entrepreneurship, film, music, fashion and design.

There was overwhelming agreement across the country that immigration has been good for domestic cuisine, with 68% saying that it has been changed for the better.

The poll found three out of five Britons now thought former Tory minister Norman Tebbit's "cricket test", proposed in 1990, in which the loyalty of immigrants is judged by which national sports teams they support, is outdated."

This people comes in the wake of the 2011 negro-led riots, several years of islamisation bleeping ever-louder on the radar, anti-white discrimination laws, suicide bombings and the mass grooming/rape of young white women.

This is the clearest indication yet that racially-aware whites who don't intend merrily trundling on toward the precipice should ditch 'democracy' once and for all. Right-thinking whites in this country and abroad will (over the next several generations) have to unite and find their own space on this planet and be prepared to defend it to the death. It's not about saving nations now. Get the message out and educate those of the future generations who will be worth saving and will have to leave the rest to perish. One thing's for sure - western Europe is finished, best of luck to the rest I say.

"Are they breaking any electoral rules"

To answer your question: No, TMBC's officials are not breaking any law or rule, but surely they are breaking the spirit of the rules.

Is it in the spirit of the rules to insist that as a prerequisite to standing as a candidate for the Labour party, each person who wishes to stand must agree (by signing a legally binding agreement) to the chief executive of TMBC handing over sensitive personal and private information about themselves to Labour's chief whip before the selection process has began? Like the earlier poster, I am no fan of Tameside Labour, but could not quite see what the problem was in this case, just seems like the type of checks that you would expect anyone wishing to hold public office to have to agree to.

Let's see if the next big revelation tops this rather damp squib...

Yeah, this scoop's a dud.

The council is doing the right thing. If someone gets elected and then is found to be ineligible for public office the election would have to be re-run at council expense.

Simply advertising the said procedures will put off most rogues and those with chequered pasts as well.

So that would clear most of them out, now then?

Now then, now then!

Just the ones with criminal convictions, (or if you are a slavering lunatic, just the ones who have not been caught yet!)

How many posters on here would fail a basic CRB, rendering them unable to perform any civic duty involving children, for example?

Spent Convictions prior to 1984?
I reckon we've got a great Ambassador for Tameside here, he's just class in a glass no?
Very Stable in nature, and you could send him anywhere to represent the borough.

You for one then?

Happy to fling mud at all and sundry, yet in reality unable to set foot across a school threshold.

Does anyone else get the impression that the posts made at 16.39 and 17.43 are by the same person and that person is part of the TMBC/Labour Party damage limitation squad?

Jimmy Jangle said...

What damage has been done to make any firm of limitation necessary?

Not much, it would seem. Certainly nothing that would warrant any form of coordinated response from anyone.

Before you go off into a spit flecked frenzy about employees of TMBC or Labour, I am neither.

If there was genuine corruption at the heart of Tameside Labour, any whistleblower would be applauded from these quarters. However, this great expose rings a little hollow.

Unless of course you know more, in which case, please share - in the interests of all Tameside's Citizens.

fOrm not firm, damn you IOS and your accursed automatic correction facilities!

But the point is: It's the chief executive of TMBC who has the potential to withhold sensitive information from Labour's chief whip regarding a Labour candidate. Yet the chief executive is not accountable within the Labour party.

The local Labour party is bent as a nine bob note. They have always had a reputation for breaking the rules.
