Well done Jonny Reynolds MP

It is good to see an MP doing the job he is paid for instead of milking the public purse. The stretch of road Jonny Reynolds mentions has deteriorated badly since the snow in December, so much so that I could say I have seen better road surfaces in Nepal (and that is saying something!). There is no immediate risk to the public and I doubt the uneven road will cause too many problems for the Range Rovers heading up that way to Mottram Rise but it does need sorting so credit where credit is due.

He's not actually got them filled though TC, and I understand plans are afoot anyway.

Shock News - "Labour MP may get his Labour Council to resurface his own road". Whatever next?

The roads in the Borough and the country are an absolute disgrace, TMBC will simply be patching things up piecemeal when a road reaches the point where it's so bad it's dangerous. They've no money, the country's no money, Labour spent up. Sorry there is some money, £13 billion, to be given away to foreigners in international aid, no cuts in that budget, in fact it's being increased and a good chunk of it will come from the billions motorists fork out in taxes every year. Keep voting Lib/Lab/Con if you're insane, a foreigner or a moron.

Not a complete disaster for the BNP.

Local candidates can take some heart in that result.
They have not killed off the British National Party.

With all the cuts that, according to Labour are making the coalition so unpopular the LibDems percentage of the vote went up, the Tories, after their freak increase in May simply reverted to their usual mid-teens percentage in the constituency, and that was with a small scale campaign. The Tories are doing well in the latest national opinion polls, especially considering the harsh economic measures they've been forced to introduce. Most people recognize Labour's mega debt has got to be paid off. If I were Ed Miliband I'd be very worried, he and his freakshow cabinet are utterly unelectable and incapable of formulating sensible, intelligent poilcies. Labour need Blair 2 AND a miracle if they're to have any chance of being re-elected.
The most important fact is that 36500 out of 71500 didn't even bother to vote despite massive campaigning from all parties, apathy won the day and Mrs Abrahams with her mega campaign and an austerity government in power got 1 in every 5 electors to vote for her.
If Labour hadn't pulled out all the stops in the 'community' in the Glodwick area with their extremely heavy percentage turnout (usually well over 90%)and block vote they'd have lost. This cultural group know which side their bread's buttered on and they'll want 'looking after' for doing the business.

Labour 'til I die, if the horse is dead and no threat to Labour why are you worrying about it, while the coalition thoroughbred gallops ever further into the distance.

What's the difference between the number of electors in Glodwick and postal voters in Glodwick? About four. Anyone can fill them in, there is NO security.

Yes, but nothing ever lasts for ever.

Just remember that.

A Lib-Dem activist said this to me at the count last night: "Labour won because of the usual postal vote scam in Glodwick."

A council official claimed turnout in Glodwick was over 95%.

Jonathan Reynolds lives on Albion St to get there he drives up or down Mottram Rd turns into Stocks Lane and left on to Lindsay St no wonder he is campaigning it's his tyres at risk.
Stocks Lane outside the Cat Park is far worse no mention of that.
Every thing the Council has wanted to bury, not be accountable for is now down to Government cuts even the School patroller crossing out side Stalyhill School has gone Goverment cuts.
GIVE ME A BREAK TWO HOURS A DAY ON MINIMUM WAGE FIVE DAYS A WEEK.
Well that's going to save a fortune isn't it. Why don't the Cllrs take a 10% wage cut plus the Chief Exc and directors then perhaps we could fund a crossing patrol for our young children before one is killed.

John Loudon McAdam said...

I think you are mistaken Doreen. Albion St is a not a well to do part of Stalybridge. I couldn't see Johnny Buy MP living amongst mere commoners but I agree with everything else you say.

I only arsked said...

Is Jonny Reynolds gay? Mandelson strongly backed him (no pun intended) to get the vacant position as Labour candidate for Staltbridge and Hyde. Labour only just got away with it by two and a half thousand votes, compared to 1997 when Tom Pendry won by fifteen thousand.

'Councillors take a 10% wage cut', excellent idea but seeing as virtually all of them are in it for the money it's extremely unlikely. The rot in TMBC starts from the top and runs down.

We are in the process of putting together an action team to repair this stretch of road. If you want to help contact KY Marland c/o Stalybridge Labour Club Acres Ln SK15 2JR. 338 4796

Tell us the plan KY. Where do you suppose you will get the infil materials etc?

Anonymous said...

Top rated Council and we have to get Ky to organise a group of volunteers to fill pot holes?

I'm all for the big society, but if the Council can't fill a few pot holes with £350 million, then lets do away with them.

Tameside Citizen said...

Sorry ‘Aussie’, comment deleted. It is totally unfair to speculate about the sexual preferences of an individual based on unfounded rumour.

Tameside Citizen said...

KY, let me know when work begins. - I would like to film the team in progress. If you pull it off you will have gone up hugely in my estimation To attempt to repair the damaged road would be an enormous task requiring lots of materials and manpower. I wait with baited breath in anticipation.

Jonny, the taxpayers sponger said...

Nowt wrong with driving a Range Rover, TC. Those that drive them tend to pay more taxes, contribute more to the economy, and ask for little in state support.

In comparison, people like Reynolds are a tax burden we could do without. Him and Gwynne have worked very few honest days' work between them, just look at their career records:

REYNOLDS: University, MP's researcher/councillor, trainee solicitor, MP.

GWYNNE: University, MP's researcher/councillor, MP.

How much have they cost taxpayers down the years? £500,000? £1 million?

As for the Range Rover drivers they are wise to drive 4x4s, judging by the state of Tameside's roads. Still, the council do do lovely hanging baskets to win pointless awards.

James Irwin said...

Jonny the taxpayer's sponger, excellent post especially the comparison between the appalling state of the roads and TMBC's infantile 'teacher gave me a gold star' mentality.
