Blast from the past! Labour councillor robs bank. Robin Hood or shortfall in his expenses?
A blast from the past to remind our readers that Tameside Labour Party have a very unsavory past. We never found out whether ex-Cllr Brodie intended to pay his legal bills with the £1500 he tried to pinch but this was clearly in the "bad old days" before the gravy train pulled into Tameside. I liked the reference to "rival groups"
Footnote. Cllr Brodie got a five year sentance in 1997. Cllr Wilkinson's partner, Ms Yvonne Valerie Anne Cartey went on to become involved with TEL (Tameside Enterprises ltd) as well as becoming a director of Tameside Community Radio ltd whose boss, Simon Walker is also ex-TEL and ex-Labour councillor. She is reported to have been selected to stand in St Michael's Ward in place of Cllr Harrison.
