Only the Conservatives can beat Labour in Longdendale

Will Peter Hayes be selected as the candidate to wrestle this ward from Labour? No announcement on the Tameside Conservatives website yet, but considering Mr Hayes came so close in May, I think it only fair he comes at the top of the shortlist for potential candidates.

I think the only factor which will prevent a Conservative victory in the Longdendale ward would be a strong UKIP campaign. Will UKIP stand? All will be revealed on Friday!

Well lets hope you do Mr Hayes, because I know that you are a decent man.

ConDem cuts and the scrapping of Longdendale school redevelopment will be a killer for him,his Lordship is in for another defeat.

I agree, I've met him and unlike a significant proprtion of Tameside councillors who are simply placemen, or in a few cases genuinely nasty pieces of work, Mr Hayes comes across as a decent, civilised person.

It was cut because we can't afford it. Try to understand, i.e pretend you're an adult, it is unsustainable for a country to live beyond its means.

genuinely nasty piece of work said...

another defeat said.. aka John Taylor, well at least he's not been (Interviewed Under Police Caution For Assault) And most Tories see you for what you really are anyway, a nasty piece of work.

UKIP will be standing, It will be a strong campaign.
Please do not believe the Conservative candidate is a nice person. We had verbal abuse and dirty looks from him at the last count.Supposedly we cost him the ward. Yet another Tory who thinks he is born to rule.
The simple facts are you vote for one of the 5 socialist parties or UKIP

Vote UKIP and vote Labour by proxy said...

UKIP are dirty spoilers who represent zilch and who ensure Tameside remains a Labour stronghold.

Peter is nice man and he would make a brilliant councillor.

The truth is UKIP, the only thing you can possibly achieve by standing is to help Labour squeeze home. Just like you did in May.

Vote UKIP = Get Labour said...

UKIP are the most pointless party in Britain. They don't actually stand for anything and they seem to exist just to block others.

Janet the local girl will win it for Labour the BNP will come last again, the Lib-Dems have been TOLD they cant stand by their masters in the Tory party

UKIP=MUGS(or maybe not) said...

UKIP are Labour's best weapon (apart from postal votes and shipped in Commonwealth immigrants) in tight wards/constituencies. They cost the Tories at least 20 seats at the general election.
Makes you wonder where all those extra UKIP candidates appeared from at Tameside's last local elections.

I too am very suspicious of what UKIP are all about. What can a single issue 'get out of Europe' party offer the people of Longdendale? I think West hit the nail on the head months ago when he said they are backed and financed by allies of the Labour party.

We should just ignore them as a trivial annoyance and unite behind the only candidate who can oust Labour.

I don't vote Tory very often but if they're the best bet to get rid of a local labour candidate I'd back them. Tameside Labour are far too arrogant and assume their 'method' will always work. Postal votes should be banned in my view.

democrat said...

I would not call for a total ban on postal votes but I would be in favour of restricting postal votes to those who are housebound and who otherwise could not vote. Everyone knows Labour are cheating using postal votes but why are the authorities not interested in clamping down on this obvious scam?

Totally corrupt System. said...

Because they are all in on it. Total corrupt system. All areas are going to end up like this. Massive fraud already. It's a rip off.

BSF was scrapped not school building work. BSF gave architects cart blanche to run amok dreaming up absurd, expensive designs and excessively priced schemes, which would have cost Tameside taxpayers in excess of £1 billion of debt over thirty years and proveto be absolutely no value for money.

I look at Longy High and I don't see a school near to collapse. Thanks to Labour this country simply does not have the money to gild the educational lilly.

only seen Labour so far said...

Seen Janet out this afternoon with a few Councillors, not seen any other group out yet maybe the Tories think they can win this ward by working part time.

we're are only part time party workers john.

The Tory work in Longdendale has been going on for over 18 months. A great team effort and a growing pledge base will surprise arrogant Labour activists who think they have this in the bag.

Labour's legacy said...

This video will open your eyes to Labour's legacy. And there's not been a single apology from our local Labour politicians...

Labour til I die said...

If the Tories were going to take the seat it would have been at the last election, they failed and will fail once again, bringing in Liam Billington to help run the campaign and his bunch of losers will assist us again many thanks .

Lady Knighton is spearheading this campaign and you know what that means.

I saw the UKIP fatso out earlier. I think he is scrabbling around for nominations.

Local lad said...

Labour 'til I die, you'd know all about losing wouldn't you. One of the few Labour councillors to actually make John Bell look like he's got a clue. And it still took the BNP vote to nail it. Cartwright's doing a far better job.

Anonymous said...

Lady Knighton well that's just put another two hundred on our majority,

RED ALERT said...

We are being murdered. What difference will it make who wins in Longendale when we are wiped out.

Corrupt individuals are elected into office, of course not all are like that. Labour have got John Bell in their pocket of corruption. John Bell as no motivation to get the Tories elected on mass, he's on to much of a good thing with Labour through the Oldham years.

Bean Counter said...

Why is it that John Bell is on almost £45,000 now that he is deputy of GMFA? He maybe leader of the opposition with just 9 councillors including himself, but is he really worth the money?

I don't know how he can write to the press bemoaning executive staff pay and waste, when he himself is the biggest waste of space going in Tameside.

The Bell's gone. said...

Dead right. Tameside Tories have got only themselves to blame for not getting rid. His track record is one of utter failure.

local said...

Labour are prepared for defeat in this campaign. With effort this is a certain Conservative gain.

Anonymous said...

Do Labour cheat the Conservatives as well?

Tameside Citizen said...

Choose an identity. I have deleted your comment. Please do not accuse individual councillors, or in fact anyone of corruption without providing some kind of proof. Political parties are fair game but named individuals are not.

Bring on the Labour lies said...

The sinister hands of Labour are over these comments, just as they were during the Newton and Denton North East by-elections.

Innuendo, lies and deceit. Dirty politics is the only game they know.

I don't believe UKIP will hurt the Tories this time. Anyone with a brain will know that UKIP have nothing to say locally. Those without a brain may switch their vote from Labour.
