The funeral of Kingsman Sean Dawson

I never had the privilege of knowing Kingsman Sean Dawson but as a sign of respect I made sure I attended his funeral service at St Paul’s in Stalybridge. The service and the build up to it was highly emotional and I think very few people lining the route of the funeral procession along Huddersfield Road had a dry eye as the cortège passed by. The silence on a normally busy road, the young children from nearby schools, the elderly from the local nursing homes and the ordinary citizens of Tameside all stood side by side to honour the memory of Sean Dawson who in the words of his commanding officer was “a true lion of England” RIP Sean Dawson - certainly one of England’s finest sons. If you watch the video clips you will here glowing accounts of this fine young man who now sadly is no longer with us.

How distasteful filming someones funeral.

I can see where you are coming from with that comment but in mitigation it was intended as a tribute to the heroic Mr Dawson. We will all depart this earth sooner or later, some of us will go and hardly be missed, however, Kingsman Sean Dawson will be remembered when many others are long forgotten.

The church ceremony was a public event where ordinary citizens could attend to pay their respects. Many camera crews were in attendance and filming - including an ITN crew complete with satellite broadcast van. It would have been grossly inappropriate for anyone uninvited to actually attend or even worse to attempt to film the burial, but parts of the church service have now been recorded for posterity so those in the future can see how the people of Stalybridge turned out to pay their respects to a true local hero.

What's distasteful about it? Or are you one of those cretins who makes a random statement without the ability to defend your position by resoned argument.
Was filming Churchill's funeral wrong? Mr Dawson's heroic sacrifice for his country is a matter of genuine public interest.

Does that include the Manchester Evening News and everyone else who filmed it? I get a feeling that 'Anonymous' dislikes citizen jounalists and is a believer in the monoply of the media giants who choose what to report in accordance with their self interests and world view.

Sean had a great send off and and he will never be forgotten.
