Love them or hate them, but there is no denying that Labour are streets ahead of the opposition when it comes to getting their message across either by leaflet distribution or by a weekly presence in the local papers. While others post on the internet and make amusing videos - Labour are out there preparing the ground for next years elections. If people think they can win elections by collecting ten signatures from nominees and then distributing a leaflet or two in the weeks before an election they are sadly mistaken.
I did chuckle at this leaflet when I noticed they want people to sign a petition to make St Georges day a public holiday. It is obvious that they are worried about the patriotic vote in Newton which I reckon goes largely to the BNP and they view the St Georges campaign as a way of showing they are patriotic too. I somehow doubt people will believe that Labour have suddenly had a change of heart and that they are now patriotic - but from Labour’s point of view I suppose it is a good information gathering scam for those foolish enough to sign the petition with their correct details.

They knocked on my door near Glenmore. At first I thought it was a wind up. No sign for years on end then overkill. Why? I don't know but it looks like desperation and fear.
They have been out in Heyrod Too, six of them all posting and canvassing, they are unstoppable.
They know what to do and when and in relation to St Georges Day has that not been a John Taylor idea for years. Nothing new for Labour I think they have always supported working folk and St Georges day, but the BNP I am sorry I cant vote for them it is what this Country does not stand for. there is a very big difference between patriotism which Labour stand for and racism which the BNP stand for.

You may or may not consider the BNP racist but to try and portray New Labour, who have spent twelve and a half years trying to destroy the British nation and its identity, as patriotic is pathetic, patently false and absurd.

Take it from me a long time campaigner turning up weeks before an election wont win you anything,what labour are doing is the better strategy I hate to say this but they are the best at it and have been for a long time in Tameside.
