I was also in Rochdale today to welcome home the troops. I met a wonderful Iraqi lady from Basra - a genuine asylum seeker - which is a very rare thing in this country. She had to flee Iraq after Islamic zealots killed five of her neighbours and accused her of being a British spy. She said life was so ordinary and peaceful - yes peaceful, under Saddam. However after the war it all changed and Iraq was transformed from a tolerant country where Christian, Muslim and Jew could worship in peace, to a country where Islamic zealots were prepared to slaughter those of different faiths. She asked me to take pictures of her to send to her family who are still in Basra, I might do a feature on her nearer to Christmas as the lesson I learned was an interesting one which centred around Saddam being a necessary part of the Iraqi nation because he was a ‘strong man’ and in some cases only strong men can keep law and order in countries with the historical complexities of Iraq.

But it did not take long for the police to be put straight on the name issue. No case to answer. The police said to me that day. 'no need to explain, no case to answer.' So Cllr Taylor many people in Dukinfield have told me that you have a criminal past. is it true? Just like your smear leaflet asking me questions about my name, I ask you, have you been to borstal in the 60's, what about your own criminal past, is it true?

I have tried to understand your letters, but I cannot understand the corrupt methods you use in order to smear my name. You cannot abuse your position like this to politically smear my name like you have been doing, it's not right, and it's morrally corrupt. It is clear that you cannot gain information about me from new charter housing, then make threats that this information it will be used against me in an election. Where are your moral standards. I would also like to know about how you came to know that my name was Hamilton, then tried to smear my name in Dukinfield. The police can confirm that there is nothing illegal about my name, so why did you try to tell the people of Dukinfield that there was, in a smear leaflet?
