I passed this checkpoint on Hyde Road on the way home an hour ago. I thought back to first time I ever encountered anything like this which was when I was student in Leningrad (St Petersburg) in the dying days of the Soviet Union. We were based close to the Technical Institute and we used to watch in amazement as the Police pulled in cars using a large lollypop wand. It seemed so alien to us because our police were so different - but now they operate similar tactics, which surely says something about the direction our country is heading!

looks a bit like Town lane the other day when the Tories had their street fight.
The Police and judicial system have lost the support of massive numbers of decent law abiding citizens due to; their obsession with political correctness; going after easy targets instead of real criminals to keep up with insane Government targets; their absolute determination to be as lenient as possible; their absurd 'treatment' and 'rehabilitation' based approaches both of which have long and international records of almost total failure. The solution to this insanity and wilful incompetence is a return to a PUNISHMENT based system incorporating capital and corporal punishment and long MANDATORY prison sentences served in spartan conditions. If you were contemplating a burglary the CERTAINTY that if caught you would serve ten years in a six by ten concrete room would be a massive disincentive.
It's Manchester Road actually. Get it right! Hyde Road is in Denton North East or Gorton!
