Cabinet Minister James Purnell left his taxpayer-funded second home “looking like a pigsty” despite claiming more than £1,600 for cleaning and repairs. The Work and Pensions Secretary abandoned the once-smart, £1,820-a- month apartment with wine stains on the wall, a grimy kitchen, rusty sink and filthy carpets which had to be replaced, according to his landlord. Our pictures inside show the shocking state of the London flat when Mr Purnell and his girlfriend Lucy Walker vacated it. Electrical wiring was exposed, the washing machine looked dirty, work surfaces were filthy, there appeared to be damp patches on the carpets and the walls were stained. Mr Purnell’s tenancy resulted in a bitter exchange of legal letters between his solicitor and the landlord’s lawyers over unpaid bills amounting to £4,000 for cleaning and repairs. In one letter Mr Purnell’s lawyers admitted the flat had not been properly cleaned when he left. But during his tenancy the Minister, tipped as a future Labour leader, claimed £1,050 for cleaning, averaging £100 a month, and a further £586 for repairs from taxpayer-funded expenses. Mr Purnell did not submit receipts for the cleaning and repairs as he was not required to do so for expenses coming to less than £250 until last year. He also left a three-piece suite in the flat despite claiming a further £1, 541 in second home furniture allowance between 2004 and 2008. When he eventually left the flat he forfeited his £2,520 deposit which the landlord used to pay a £2,587.25 decoration and repair bill. According documents obtained by the Sunday Express he still owes £1,523.12. including £910.63 for alarm repairs, £307.74 for cleaning, £47.50 inventory charges and £190.00 for changing the locks. Bachelor Mr Purnell, 38, MP for Stalybridge and Hyde in Greater Manchester, shared the third-floor flat with Miss Walker between 2004 and 2006. The landlord claimed the carpets were beyond repair but didn‚t charge the MP for their replacement choosing instead to only charge him for their disposal. The affair will be extremely embarrassing for Mr Purnell, who is the bookies‚ favourite to replace embattled Home Secretary Jacqui Smith. The Sunday Express revealed earlier this month (April) how Mr Purnell also charges the £400 a month for his household groceries, an expense which has cost the taxpayer £9,094 in the past five years. He has claimed more than £145,000 in expenses for running his second home since he became an MP in 2001. A source close to the company which managed the flat said: „He left the property in an absolutely dreadful condition. It looked like a pigsty. Sadly Purnell’s excesses are the norm rather than the exception in modern British politics. Here is my view on the current state of the political parties starting with the next the party of government.
The Conservative Party; in Tameside the Conservative’s are always going to struggle to break Labour’s stranglehold on the council. Many WC people remember the injustices of Thatcherism and can vividly recall the annihilation of British manufacturing during that era. However hard the Tories try to soften their image there will remain a substantial part of the Tameside electorate who will never vote Conservative because of their past mistakes and unfortunately this impasse will allow Labour to remain dominant for the foreseeable future which is regrettable because the Conservative’s have some exciting young blood up and coming who undoubtedly will be challenging the old order in leadership battles in the not too distant future.
The Labour Party; anyone who has attended an election count where Labour have had a significant presence will probably agree that their behaviour is usually despicable. They remind me of small town gangsters who view certain areas as their own personal fiefdoms. They are devoid of ideology and are involved in politics for no other reason than personal gain. They will happily endorse illegal wars, the abandonment of the working class and embrace naked Capitalism, and make no mistake these political parasites would just as eagerly embrace xenophobia and racism if they thought it would help keep their snouts in the trough. A classic example of a career Labourite is Dicky Leese from Manchester. This detestable bloodsucker started life as a communist; he then morphed into a good old fashioned socialist, then shape shifted into a society figure who likes to hob-nob with Her Majesty the Queen – utterly sickening! Many people are aware a revolution is coming; nobody has any idea what kind of revolution but when it arrives and the pitchforks are out, I predict many a Labourite will be lynched, the real criminals such as Mandelson, Levy et al will all have fled the country by this time but the minor apparatchiks with nowhere to run will feel the wrath of the people. Think this could not happen? So did Nikoli and Elena Ceausescu!
The Liberal Democrats; thank god they are weak in Tameside because make no mistake these are the real wolf’s in sheep’s clothing. Few people understand what motivates Liberal Democrat activists. Unlike Labour it is not financial remuneration it is something far more sinister. If you scratch beneath the surface of what the Liberal Democrats stand for, ignoring all the bull about broken paving and dodgy street lighting, you will discover a shocking agenda of absolute perversion. Lists are available of Liberal Democrat activists convicted of the most appalling acts of sexual depravity – near enough always involving children. All parties attract the occasional bad egg, but with the LD’s it is endemic. Anyone familiar with these degenerates in Manchester picture their main man; Jabba the Hut and then think of the coterie of young boys he surrounds himself with. Anyone who doubts what I say, think of your average Liberal Democrat activist and ask yourself would you leave them alone with your children as babysitters?
UKIP; the political party that doesn’t do politics! UKIP are an interesting bunch, mainly consisting of disillusioned Tories and ordinary patriotic Brits. I have had many dealings with UKIP’ers over the years and have always found them to be thoroughly decent people. On the whole they could be described as political novices and their political campaigns always lack sophistication but what they do have that most other parties are sadly lacking is principles. They have a passionate belief that the EU is bad for Britain and do their best to alert the rest of the populace to this threat. It is a shame about their party leadership both Farage and Knapman before him have been what could be described as ‘wing-clippers’.
BNP; the most lied about political party in Britain bar none! The BNP are essentially an immigration party. Reading lurid media reports could lead one to believe that they are Hitler’s NSDAP re-incarnate, but the truth is somewhat different. They are well positioned to take large swathes of disillusioned Labour votes, along with some Conservative votes from Tories who feel their party has lost direction. They are undoubtedly a socialist party and bizarrely, no more radical than the Labour Party was fifty years ago. Unlike UKIP they are well organised and capable of mounting reasonably sophisticated election campaigns. There would be sense in a BNP/UKIP merger as it would be mutually beneficial to both parties. I have attended election counts where the BNP have been present and contrary to what the media would have you believe they have always been impeccable in both appearance and behaviour.
Respect; an unholy alliance of ultra-conservative Islamists and Neo-Marxist agitators held together by the formidable talents of George Galloway MP! If ever a marriage was made in hell surely this it. The main factions in the party may share a common interest in opposition to war in Muslim countries and the factors behind these wars but that is where common ground ends, other than this they would disagree on virtually anything and everything.
Greens; the ultimate protest vote party! They seem to be full of contradictions but they are essentially good well meaning people whose world I would far sooner live in than the hellish surveillance state Labour have so kindly created.

Spend some time on the garden take some pride in your home just because you get it for free does not mean you can neglect it,its nice to hear you may want to buy it I will send you a few quid to help it may save me some in the long run if we are not paying the rent for you.

Labour till I die, Mr West's garden is nice but even if it was a total cesspit full of old washing machines, rubbish, dog mess and toxic waste it would be nowhere near as bad as the state of Britain after twelve years of Labour rule.
