Labour vow to defeat BNP

Fears the right-wing British National Party may clinch victory in a forthcoming by-election have been played down.Following the death of long-serving Labour councillor Margaret Oldham, a poll has been called in the Newton area of Hyde, Tameside. In last May's elections, the BNP candidate finished second. And with the economic climate worsening and immigration problems high on the national agenda, fears have been raised they may go one better on February 5. But at the Labour campaign launch, government minister James Purnell told party members they could retain the seat.Mr Purnell, MP for Stalybridge and Hyde and Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, said: "People can see the difference Labour has made here. "Tameside council is independently recognised as one of the best in the country. "We know about the BNP and what happens when they get in. They don't turn up for council meetings and they fall out with each other. We work harder than they ever have and if we continue to do that we will win here."His comments were echoed by the ward's Labour candidate Phil Fitzpatrick. He said: "The BNP only rear their ugly heads, spreading their nasty lies, at election time. Then they disappear. They won't work for the people of Newton." At the junction of Talbot Road and Ashton Road, stickers reading `No More Mosques' have been put on lamp-posts.Residents were not so sure of a Labour success. A man in his 20s said: "I think the BNP will win. It's not bad around here but a lot of people don't want Asians here because they think it will bring the place down." A pensioner from nearby Flowery Field said: "There is a lot of resentment here with waiting times for houses and prescriptions caused by immigration." But Neville Brocklehurst, 73, said Labour would win.He said: "There is a lack of opposition and the BNP thing is probably more of a protest vote than anything else." Manchester Evening News

What do they mean "They don't attend council meetings"?

I attend more meetings than some councillors, I ask questions and make contributions to the debate.

I ask more awkward questions than most Tory councillors..

You have got them on the run. Quinn is organising the offensive against you and they are petrified you are going to win. Do not falter in your effort because despite their bravado they know if you play your cards right you have got it in the bag.

Apparently Tameside council is one big knocking shop, so if your wife or girlfriend works there you should get her checked out.

The Labour Government and the Trade Unions have, over the last eleven and a half years presided over a massive uncontrolled flood of immigrants from all over the world. These people will, almost without exception work extremely long hours for extremely poor pay and conditions. The vast majority of bosses love them because they are easy to exploit. The result is any British worker who wants a fair day's pay for a fair day's work is classed as 'lazy'. Many immigrants put up with being treated like dogs because they are only planning to work here for a few years and then return home having saved their equivalent of a vast amount of money; this is at the same time as British workers are becoming increasingly poor in real terms all the time; struggling even to pay for the essentials.
All this has happened under the watchful eye of Trade Unions which were formed to take care of the rights of the British working people but who say and do nothing on this issue as they are too busy bleating PC mantra about 'racism' and the rights of immigrants and serving their Labour masters in Whitehall. This is the reason why so many British workers now earn a pittance for a weeks work. No doubt some people will keep voting Labour; why is a complete mystery.

The Unions are run by politically motivated left-wing extremists who have no interest in defending the rights of British workers, unless they happen to work for the sacred public services. The Unions primary functions are; to prop up the bankrupt Labour Party financially and to toe the government line, particularly on issues such as immigration.
There are people out there who would vote for a horse if it was wearing a red rosette. I would advise people to start THINKING for themselves before it becomes a crime.
The solutions to this country's problems are sometimes complex but step one is absolutely clear; we must get rid of this government before they can do any more damage.
