A teenage girl was brutally raped by two youths a day before Christmas - but kept the attack a secret from her family for more than two weeks. Police said today that the schoolgirl `didn't want to ruin her family's Christmas' and only came forward to report the Christmas Eve rape to officers at a police station on Saturday. The girl was held down by one of three youths who approached her then raped by the other two as she walked home alone in Tameside. Detectives today branded the three men `animals'. Det Con Barbara Offord, of Ashton CID, said: "This poor schoolgirl was flung to the ground and raped. She has had to live with this all over Christmas and New Year before telling us about it over the weekend. "We can only imagine the horrors that have been replayed over and over in her mind since then." The girl, who is undergoing specialist counselling, was walking across fields off Underwood Road, Hattersley, at 5pm on Christmas Eve when she was approached by three youths who then took her to the rear of Torkington Drive and Silverton Close. She was then raped. Police said she went home after the ordeal but didn't want to ruin her family's Christmas and New Year so didn't report the attack until Saturday. Det Con Offord added: "The people who did this are little more than animals - they attacked a young girl on her way home on the day before Christmas. "We now want the public's help. The victim told us she saw a woman walking her dog nearby, so we particularly want to hear from her. "Also, this happened on Christmas Eve when most people are rushing around planning for the following day. Remember back before Christmas {ndash} what were you doing on December 24? Did you see something but dismiss it at the time because you had Christmas Day on your mind? "Anything you remember could help us put these three behind bars." The girl has been able to give police descriptions. The first youth was around 13 or 14, under 5ft tall, fat and dark-skinned. He spoke with what has been described as a Pakistani accent and was wearing a black tracksuit with the hood up and black woolly gloves. The second was aged around 18, 6ft tall and skinny wearing a grey jacket with the hood up, black tracksuit bottoms and a black scarf pulled up over half of his face. The final attacker was aged 15 or 16, about 5ft tall with a skinny build. He wore a black tracksuit with white trainers and a black woollen balaclava.
