Race row over 'Black Power' statue meant to bring a community together

It was meant as a powerful symbol commemorating the abolition of the slave trade and celebrating good community relations. Instead, a £15,000 sculpture installed in an inner-city park - depicting a large, black clenched fist - has itself been accused of being racially divisive. Daily Mail

Interesting! This racially offensive structure is only down the road in Trafford. Remember when we had a similar incident in Tameside when two white children were coerced into giving Black Power salutes?

With any luck someone will pour white paint over this hideous sculpture.

How can such a provocative statue bring communities together?
Can you imagine the reaction if the same council built a statue symbolizing White Power? The mass media, the PM, the churches, the local press, local bigwigs, the police, community leaders, local Imams and ethnic minority pressure groups would viciously condemn a statue that they would say was a symbol of "hate". But a black power statue in their view is progress. BOLLOCKS!

Good point Nigel. Notice how only local residents complained, nobody from the local authorities had the balls to object to it.
