It is interesting to see Cllr Perry getting re-elected and making a pledge to destroy the countryside in pursuance of his goal of getting the by-pass built. It appears that the people in Longendale who could be bothered to turn out and vote on the whole back this monstrous scheme.
The headline from Dukinfield “High tension and drama” is an appropriate headline I am told. By all accounts Roy West did win the Dukinfield election – but only on votes cast on the day. The minute the postal votes were included the Dukinfield by-election went from neck and neck to no contest. I still have grave misgivings about Labour and postal voting – I don’t know the mechanics of this electoral scam, but I do know it works and nearly always in favour of the Labour Party.

Wild informed me at the table where the votes were being counted "And we will continue to turn our backs on you." No first there, but the thousands of leaflets heading for Dukinfield will keep the campaign going. The worry on Wilds face was clearly evident.......

Dukinfield reports not true Labour won both sets of votes postal and votes at the ballot box,and won all the polling stations our scrutineers have eyes like shit house rats.
Tories did second best at the polling stations and run us a close second at the town hall box our worst box even though we won it was All Saints.
Well your liver won't last out two years Wildy.
Hey Wildy you old drunk you should know all about shit house rats.
It was the same scenario in Hyde Newton. The BNP won on the night via the ballot box, but lost out overall due to postal votes.

Mr. West,
At the election count you held the Union Flag up the wrong way. Call yourself a proud nationalist?
Big Deal the Nation is up-side-down
Unless the union flag is attatched to a pole or staff it can not be upside down.
The broad white diagonal is at the top on the side attatched to the staff / pole. If there is no pole the flag is not upside down.
in book illustrations the pole is ASSUMED to be to the left, but this is an ASSUMPTION.
We won and always will because we represent the workers and the workers united will never be defeated.
Dear John Taylor
I know you have posted on here i met one of your neices tonight she's not a big fan even her mother who is your sister who was adopted thinks you are a wanker.
Remember John you got personel over the elections i will chew you up and spit you back out again.
I know a lot more on you don't piss me off
"labour til i die said... We won and always will because we represent the workers and the workers united will never be defeated."
That is utter shite.
What the Labour Party has done to the working class must amount to one the best examples of betrayal
in modern history.
In what way can Nu Labour say they represent the workers?
The illiterate Keir Hardy must turn in his grave at the site of a "Labour" cabinet crammed full of public schoolboy toffs. A party that came to power ruled by a former pupil of Fettes College (the "Eton of Scotland").
A party that was so ashamed of its working class roots that it had to reinvent itself as a watered down Tory Party.
Nu Labour don't give a shit about the workers they only give a shit about themselves.

BREAKING NEWS... Stacey Knighton refutes bizarre Labour rumours and announces intention to continue fight in Audenshaw:
http://staceyknighton4audenshaw.blogspot.com/2008/05/labour-win-for-now.html
Tameside Conservatives were celebrating this week, after handing out a “bloody nose” to Labour at the local elections. The Conservatives gained two seats, and defended three, to take the number of Tameside Conservative councillors up to ten – their largest number for a quarter of a century.
There was a 7.4 per cent swing to the Conservatives, as they took 36.5 per cent of the overall share of the vote – their highest share of the vote since 1980 and just 2,784 votes short of Labour.
And convincing gains in Dukinfield/Stalybridge and Stalybridge North means Stalybridge now has more Conservative councillors than Labour.
Dorothy Cartwright romped home in Dukinfield/Stalybridge 266 votes ahead of her Labour rival. It is the first time ever that the Conservatives have won a seat in the ward that straddles Hough Hill, Gorse Hall and Yew Tree.
Similarly, Clive Patrick sneaked Stalybridge North with a 44 majority, to ensure residents in Carrbrook, Heyrod and Ridge Hill are represented by their first Conservative councillor since 1979.
The Conservative clean sweep of Stalybridge was secured with Doreen Dickinson’s massive 1,175 majority in Stalybridge South – the largest majority in the whole of Tameside. The results mean that five of the town’s nine councillors are now Conservative.
In Ashton Hurst, Richard Ambler was defending the seat he had won four years previously. Last year the Conservatives had failed to oust the remaining Labour councillor in the ward by just 14 votes. However, Cllr. Ambler turned the 14-vote deficit into a spectacular 784 majority, polling 1,905 votes – the highest number of votes polled for any candidate. It was also the first time the Conservatives have successfully defended an Ashton seat.
More success was recorded in Hyde Werneth where Derek Baines finished 583 votes ahead of his Labour rival, with 1,821 votes.
But there was also anguish for the Conservatives, who made huge inroads into Labour majorities in other wards without the success of victory. Dr Paul Buckley narrowly failed to take Ashton St. Michael’s by just six votes. This near miss was almost replicated in Denton West, where Joan Howarth lost by a mere 13 votes.
And in other areas the Conservatives went close. Stacey Knighton fought an excellent campaign in Audenshaw to take 1,013 votes and reduce the Labour majority to 279, while in the Labour stronghold of Longdendale, Sue Barker reduced the Labour majority to just 259. And in Denton North East and Denton South the party recorded in excess of 1,000 votes respectively.
Responding to the results, Cllr. John Bell, the Tameside Conservative Leader, said, “I am extremely pleased with this set of results. We have certainly dealt Labour a bloody nose, which they thoroughly deserve. Even though we have been helped by the incompetence of Brown’s Government, there is no doubt that locally we have fought our best campaign for years. Across Tameside we have activists and candidates who are willing and able to put in the work needed to take on Labour, backed up by an electorate that are despondent at the continuing arrogance, complacency and failure of Labour at both national and local level.
“Candidates like Clive Patrick, Dorothy Cartwright, Paul Buckley, Stacey Knighton and Joan Haworth have taken the fight to Labour and enjoyed great success, while Richard Ambler, Derek Baines, and Doreen Dickinson have been returned with whopping majorities based on their excellent records as councillors.
“We now have ten councillors, which is a world away from the dark days between 1996 and 1998, when we had no councillors in Tameside at all. It has been a long, hard road to get to where we are today, but nonetheless Tameside Conservatives are now a potent opposition to Labour, who are extremely lucky that there are no local elections next year. Our campaign for 2010 has already begun.”

We can confirm that Stacey did contact us about a safe seat but we understand she was offered a seat in 2010 in both Stalybridge south and Werneth if she stayed.
Dear Executive Member
What an interesting fairy tale that was.
I must say you have a great imagination.
I can safely say that Stacey has never asked to join the Labour Party and also she has never been offered Werneth or Staly South as we have got 6 very good councillors there.
Ask yourself this question?
Why would anyone want to join a sinking ship that is the Labour Party?
Here's one for you which Labour councillor has enquired in joining the Conservative Party as they have become unhappy with how their party is run?
Wait and see we know that at least two Tories one from Staly and one from Werneth know the truth and are not happy, the truth will come out and you will be amazes at the treachery involved.
