A teenager is in hospital following a collision between a scooter and two vehicles in Ancoats. The collision happened at about 6.20am on Wednesday, 16 January 2008 at the junction of Pollard Street and Beswick Street. A Scania Artic HGV, a red Nissan Micra and a red and silver scooter were in collision and the rider of the bike, an 18-year-old man, was taken to the Manchester Royal Infirmary with injuries to his head and spleen. He is currently in a critical but stable condition. The drivers of the HGV and the Nissan Micra were not injured. Road closures were put in place on Pollard Street and Beswick Street but were lifted shortly afterwards. Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has any information is asked to contact the Area 2 Road Policing Unit on 0161 856 3572.
This poor lad is the the son of Droylsden BNP candidate Paul Hindley. I wish him a speedy recovery, but I am informed he is very poorly.

This is one of them times Politics don't come into this.
May i join the previous posters in saying my prayers are with the Family and Friends at this time.
Indeed. May he have a speedy recovery.
This is terrible news.
I echo the comments above.
Is there any update?
The kid is still critical.
He's very lucky to be alive, so far they have removed his spleen, 1 kidney, and he also has a damaged liver. His sternum has caved in resulting in damaged lungs, broken pelvis but the most worrying of all is a severe head injury
it’s now been 10 days in intensive care in critical condition and he is still unresponsive. On Monday they will be performing a tracheotomy on the hope of improving his condition and place him on an iron lung.
He clearly has other broken bones but the doctors are telling us they are the least of his worries right now and will deal with those as his condition improves.
Thank you again to those concerned
Paul
