I used to be friendly with a senior Tory and I couldn’t sleep for days with anger after he explained to me the Thatcher government’s policy of “Managed Decline”. If you yourself are Conservative you will probably be aware what this policy was, and if you were not angered by it – you must be very hard hearted.
Managed Decline was a code word for the Thatcher government’s policy to annihilate Britain’s industrial base and change our economy from a manufacturing based economy into a service led economy. The North West and North East and Scotland (all Labour strongholds at the time) were the primary targets for this massacre of British industry. Proud men – ship builders, steel workers and miners were to be consigned to flipping burgers in McOutlets.
If you ever watch the hilarious film called The Full Monty, enjoy the film because it is a classic, but take note of the message. The despair of the former steel workers captured so well in that film was a perfect depiction of how proud men were reduced to shadows of their former selves as a direct result of the Thatcherite policy of managed decline.
And just to put the icing on the cake, the ‘greed is good’ philosophy promoted during the Thatcher era lead to, in my opinion, the start of the breakdown of community life as we knew it. Another letter that Taylor sent to me at Werneth Avenue was a letter of accusations, Taylor states "you can not keep sending mail and writing letters about anti-social behaviour if you did what they said you did" Taylor also informs me in this letter that he was given the reasons why I had to move from Werneth Avenue. Well most people could read for themselves the reasons why on the front page of the Tameside Reporter. I would also say that Taylor was constantly informing me by letter that if i stood in the elections in Hyde that i would be exposed.

I know what you mean about the criminal justice system Mr Taylor, we took the thugs to court for smashing our windows and the courts let them go with just a fine, so they took that as a green light to smash my windows again. The two thugs that were convicted for breaking my ankle and knocking out my wifes teeth only got a 12 months conditional discharge. One thug that came to my house with a gun and smashed my windows, only got 4 months but served two. There were times when I wanted to take the law in to my own hands but held back from doing so. Victims of crime and violence on no less than 40 seperate occastions in our home. I know from the letters that you have sent to me that I can not rely on you for representation, so therefore I will engage the biggest Nationalist campaign for representation Dukinfield has ever seen.
