While walking this afternoon I come across a large forest clearance being carried out in an area very close to where the planned bypass is scheduled to rejoin the A628. I tried to get close to the action to see what was actually going on, but a very officious workman prevented me from getting near. There is absolutely no proof this deforestation is connected to the bypass, but knowing the area as well as I do it has made me very suspicious.
The forest in question, which can be found just off the A628 close to Vale house Reservoir, does have occasional forestry work carried out but nothing like what I witnessed today. Image four is an example of forest management where the artificially introduced pines are chopped to allow the smaller native trees to regain a foothold in the area.
Apologies for the quality of some of the images, but the only way I could get to see what was going on was to go onto Bleaklow and take the images from afar, unfortunately I did not have a suitable lens with me for this task, but you can still make out the industrial size machines tearing down the trees.
If this is connected to the bypass, my guess is this is where the plant machinery will be stored during the bypass construction. It makes sense from the authorities point of view because the area is fairly inaccessible on foot and traffic management would be simple, which means protesters could kept at a ‘safe’ distance. I am sure they learned lessons from Newbury and elsewhere.
Of course this may just totally coincidental and not connected to the bypass, but you can understand my suspicion when all this work is being carried out less than 500 metres from CPO notice number 67.

I say that it is a F...... disgrace and Sean Parker-Perry is a little pissy pants money grabbing bastard.
It is Sean Perry, not Sean Parker-Perry.
Interesting to see this. I will quiz around as to what is actually going on.
Ok then that little f..... Sean Perry is a back stabbing c... also the back-hander kid the fastest twat in Tameside.
I'm looking at the attendance list for this year's Bilderberg conference and the usual suspects are listed:
Rothschild
Rockerfeller
Oppenheimer et el
Where is Parker-Perry? He's not listed. Where is the big shot from Longendale?
Sean, listen to me for a moment. YOU HAVE IDEAS ABOVE YOUR STATION.
Please gentleman, let's stick to the issues. This is not the place to attack Sean Parker-Perry,whoever he is.
Sean Perry is in favour of this f...... bypass
Look little people the bypass is going ahead whether you want it or not we will not consult you because we are in charge and u r our Serfs got that or do u need it in writing go back to ur new charter housing leave the decisions to us
Liam, or roadmunkey, or whatever you call yourself on this site today, what the fuck is your infatuation with Sean Parker-Perry? Did he reject your advances or something when you were younger? It seems quite sad that someone as young as you with a speck of talent is ruining his reputation by constantly throwing around false accusations. You're like the boy who constantly cries wolf. Get a life!
Amn to that!
yeah, perhaps you should leave him alone. and all the other people you are plauging.
im sure they all have better things to worry about than the speculative comments of somebody just out of college.
nah nah ne nah nah. Told you the bypass was going to be built. You little people cannot and will not stop progress. Cry into your keyboards you bunch of saddo losers.
PARKER PERRY CALLING PEOPLE ON THIS BLOG AND ALL THE TIME HE BEATS UP HIS BIT OF SKIRT SHE HIDES BRUISES WITH LOTS OF MAKE-UP,
DON'T YOU KNOW
Perhaps Sean or Tameside VIP answer the question better than anyone else on here. Why is there work under way in Swallows Wood?
To my knowledge, there has been no consultation or prior warning.
United utilities have been clearing trees around pylons in the area - thats all- no one is allowed to do any work for the bypass - if they do it plays into the hands of the strong anti-bypass lobby as ammunition at the on going public inquiry. Its clear that all the political proponents of the bypass including SPP are keeping there gobs shut now and hoping for the best (or worst).
Interesting theory from ‘anonymous’, only one small snag; there are no pylons anywhere near this massive tree felling operation. The pylons are on the opposite side of the valley, across the A628 and on the other side of the reservoirs.
