A personal message from Roy West

The injuries that you can see to my face are a result of an attack by thugs in the street in Hyde. Due to my evidence in court, fourteen yobs have now been convicted. I want to campaign for the victims of crime. The politicians and the police encouraged my family to come forward and give evidence against local yobs in the area, and then they abandoned us to a terrible onslaught of reprisals and physical assaults. We became desperate for political representation and support from the police. In the end we became the victims of crime on no less than forty occasions in our home in Hyde. We had our windows smashed fourteen times, eventually having to put plastic on our windows so that the thugs could not smash our windows. I joined the British National Patry and stood as a candidate in Dukinfield for this simple reason, lack of political representation.

Roy, you are not alone. I think the majority of the British people now find themselves without political representation. Most people I speak to are convinced that a vote for the Lib/Lab/Con gang is a vote for varying shades of the same thing. Their policies are that similar that there is virtually no differnce between them. You are courageous individual Roy, you keep up the hard work and I am sure the electorate will reward you.

I am sorry to see that.

I am a believer in free speech and even though I don't agree with BNP policy, I think it is disgusting in how certain members of the public condone themselves. If you don't agree with someone or what they stand for, you don't go about harassing them or their family by assaulting them or damaging their property.

I have been a victim of hate crime recently and I am going to ensure that I will not let it drop. The country needs a zero tolerance policy on crime.

A neighbor of mine had his car damaged, he complained to the police about the person who did it and he is never convicted because of some loop hole or something or other which PROTECTS HIM. The police have told us, you can make an official complaint, but you have to be aware that there could be "repercussions". Just what attitude is that to take on crime?

What did i do to deserve it? the scumbag that did it got six months in jail and now i believe evicted from his council house.

Let's hope Taylor ends up with an even bigger shiner. That certainly would be justice. I know I speak for many.

The scumbag that was responsible for the attack on this occasion has a string of convictions. Criminal damage, assault, street robbery, non-payment of fines, he also likes to intimidate people that is why he has been evicted.
No matter how many times you go to court to give evidence against this druggie he always seems to walk away from court. He got two years for a street robbery and only served less than six months, he was convicted for the assault on me while already doing time for this street robbery. In fact the total sentence should have been two years and six months. His two scumbag mates pleaded guilty to putting my family in fear of violence-two and half year restraining order on them two nice people. One little yob that runs around Hyde smashing people's windows got a three year ASBO-I went to court to give evidence against him three times. One little bitch that attacked my partner in the street only got a one yesr conditional discharge despite already having two convictions on her for previous assaults on my partner. It did not help the situation when my neighbour was allowing all these scumbags into his house. It makes you despair when the courts do not punish these low life scumbags, yet they all have a string of convictions already. We see the police and the courts working against each other, thats why people don't bother reporting yob violence to the police anymore.
You also get this situation where New Charter Housing keep putting drug addict criminals in the same flats as decent folk.

The fear of crime continues to upset people in our local communities, the sense that no one care's is very real in the minds of decent law abiding folk. Local politicians are no where to be seen, talking to local people in my area would see that to be the truth. Police have been taken of the streets and replaced by community support officers. The reality will tell you that people have very little faith in the police and the courts anymore. What can you expect when thugs and rapists walk free from court.
And on the other hand you have New Charter Housing letting out their houses to drug addicts. Old folk mixed in with drug users. The police spend all night dealing with yobs and vandals getting them to court and then the courts let them go. What a great system I think not. Victims of crime are left to suffer while all the support is given to the thug. I spent over a year in the courts system giving evidence and I can tell you that I am pissed off with it all. People need to wake up to what is going on in the criminal justice system no one gives a shit for the victims of crime.

It's knowing that your door is always open and your path is free to walk.

The thugs have got a free hand on the streets,we can all see that. The police are very slow to take action against the cowardly little yobs, and when they actually get round to doing something the courts allow the thugs to go back to continue their yobbish behaviour. The thugs are allowed to go back to the community that they terrorized.

I was recently recommended to this site by a friend as I used to work in Tameside. After observing for a few weeks, I feel I must comment, especially on this article. Anonymous said..."That is a serious shiner. I wonder what you did to deserve it."
What a disgracful comment! Was this made because of Roy Wests' political affiliations, or rather the commentators dislike of them (or him?!) It seems quite obvious Roy West was just being what he should be, a decent, law-abiding citizen.
Would he make the same remarks regarding Holly Wells & Jessica Chapman, mudered by the EVIL Ian Huntley? What, according to anonymous, did they do to deserve their fate? Absolutely nothing! Weather or not one agrees or disagrees with Mr. Wests' political beliefs,he was attacked and has a right to the same protection by the law as all of us.
It maybe you who is the victim of crime next,I would rather have Mr. West as a councillor to turn to for help than the current shower. I'm sure Mr. West wouldn't refuse to help you.
