'AK47' boy bailed

A 15-YEAR-OLD boy arrested over an incident in which a schoolboy brandished an AK47-style rifle at a railway station in Greater Manchester has been released on bail, police said .A youngster aimed the weapon at a terrified crane driver working on the opposite side of the tracks at Newton station in Hyde. The crane driver, David Wood, rang his boss who captured the scene on CCTV and called police.Greater Manchester Police did not send an armed response unit and the teenager had disappeared by the time officers arrived. A 15-year-old boy from Glossop,Derbyshire, was arrested on Thursday and has now been bailed.A BTP spokesman said: "A 15-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm or imitation firearm has been released on police bail pending further inquiries. He will return to British Transport Police on October 20."

Did anyone read the hysterical front page headline in Thursdays Manchester Evening News regarding this ‘news’ item? If you did, I am sure you will agree that it was utterly pathetic. They made it out to be crime of the century; Hungerford revisited, when it was obvious that it was just a couple of kids with a toy gun.

I rarely read that rag TC, but it is disgraceful in how the boy behaved.

I think you may want to run a story on this. Our very own Roy Oldham has contributed to some proposal on what would appear these "citizens jury's" which have recently been in the press.

Funny to see the police response in this matter, it took them two hours to come to my house after two little shits made a complaint against while out delivering bnp leaflets. [A fine police force]

I am not a very keen supporter of the police and for good reason. When the thugs came to my house to smashed my windows, it took the police up to 4 to 5 days to come to my house after the window smashing incidents. The four years of violence seems like a life time. Listen to this, the police came for me on the evidence of those same thugs that smashed my windows and punched my partner in the face, they had already been convicted for smahing my windows. The law protects the low life thugs that attack people.

I must admit police response times do need to be improved drastically. Perhaps the police are prejudice towards you being a member of the BNP Roy?

No punishment, so the yobs continue to make life hell for decent law abiding citizens.

This little scumbag should be birched and then put in the stocks in the centre of Hyde so that people can throw rotton fruit at him.

A very interesting story TC.

The Manchester Evening News is desperate to portray gun crime as a crime that afflicts all communities.

The paper has a habit of exaggerating this type of crime when it involves white people.

I agree NCB. They are certainly working to an agenda.
