Should Tameside have its own Gay event?

Manchester seems to do very well out of hosting the annual Pride event. Would such an event work in Tameside?

No it would not work in Tameside as I am the only gay in the village. Tameside no longer has a gay bar which would make it extremely difficult for the gays to get rat arsed afterwards.

In terms of acts/entertainment you could always have Roy West doing a Freddie Mercury tribute.

Oldham has their gay pride which is utterly embarrassing. I went there and they had ferret racing...

Only if i could bring my camera please.

Anonymous said...

So you are this Gayboy-DS?

Anonymous said...

Ex Para

I have no problem with shirtlifters if they keep their activities to themselves, but flaunting it like those in the photos is annoying because it is as if they are trying to impose their lifestyle habits on the wider population.

Have these gay men got any tattoos.
I have got my camera ready.

Is John Taylor about to 'come out' and reveal his 'feminine' side?

Anonymous said...

From "Gayboy-ds" web-page on gaydar..."I prefer white/hispanic...to Asian" (Tough luck "Gayboy" we copied it before you closed the link)

Not only do you think Roy West looks like Freddie Murcury BUT SO DOES "POGGLE THE LESSER" who claims to be anti-racist.

HMMMMMM...worth a little investigating.

Anonymous said...

So the 18 year old guy that appeared in the link, the one who likes star wars, likes playing the Xbox360 online and who does not want asian males to "waste their time" contacting him, is in actual fact poggle the lesser? And here was me also thinking poggle was an 'anti-racist'. This gets stranger by the minute.

Vote for Tameside Tories. Vote for Manchester Conservatives.

Read the ressurected blog of Sean Parker-Perry. "

NB."The Ressurected blog of Sean Parker Perry" is NOTHING to do with the Councillor.

it is in fact the blog of "Bypassedwarrior" aka "Poggle the lesser"...who just happens to be a STAR WARS character

I find it hard to believe he is a tory. Conservatives are normally stuck up and pompous this dude is foul mouthed and shameless and even the hardest thatcherite would not attack a person because they have a physical disability. It is also hard to believe that poggle is the same person that is opposed to the building of the bypass because most tories i know dont give a toss about the environment - they only care about themselves which of course is the cornerstone of the conservative mindset. What did thatcher famously once say "there is no such thing as community"? With that in mind, why would a young tory want to campaign on environment issues. It doesnt add up.

A message to homosexuals from the BNP.

What you do to each other in the privacy of your own home is your business but please don't impose your 'lifestyle' on us.

Flaunting this kind of thing in the street is wrong.

Your behaviour at 'gay pride' can be summed up in 3 words.
DECADENT DEGRADING DEGENERATE.

Don't ask! Don't tell!

BNP members don't flaunt themselves in the street. They are civilised and behave like grown-ups.

Dear TBO
Unless.......Gayboy/Poggle/bypassedwarrior is a NIMBY (Not In My Backyard) And he doesn't want the bypass because it will spoil his view

I knew this would bring the homophobes out. ncb is a homophobe and it’s usually those with something to hide that protest the loudest. would he make the same remarks if it were hetrosexual couples 'flaunting' themselves - would he boolarks

I would like to say that I am highly disappointed with Mike, I would like to know why you are going on gay sites to obtain that information. Obviously you are a very sad gay man. It is because of people like Mike that give gay men a bad name in the press when it comes to these "outings".

I am not at all racist, just because Asian men are not my part of my sexual preference, does that make me a racist? If you was to look on one of the pictures, a friend of mine is Asian.

In regards to my politics, I am a supporter of the Conservative party and of the anti bypass groups. However my own personal views do not represent theirs or any other third party for that matter.

In regards to Manchester Gay Pride, it is not their to promote others to convert to be Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgendered as the BNP put it. It is there as a platform to raise awareness and to help social integration, but NOT enforce it.

I am not bypassedwarrior or poggle the lesser. Just because I link to those sites, does not make me the owner of them. I often link to local websites I have an interest in like this one for example.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for clearing the confusion liam. i am a bnp supporter and as with most people in the bnp locally i am against the damn bypass. i am in no way anti gay and your input is appreciated

tonydj said...

To most on the site...thanks for your support.

to liam..

But, Mr Billington, you are the owner of one site, the Tameside tories, see:- http://www.best-sites.co.uk/detail/link-20694.html

also:- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Doc_glasgow/Jun_07

quote "I agree with mike33 - Liam Billington (gay-boyDS) is a disgruntled conservative party member. He is now being investigated by the police and further the 'yokel' press are now involved in this. I would suggest putting a full edit block on this page."

Any comments?

Like I have said before, I have submitted links to directories for local sites I have an interest in.

The comment which was mad on Doc Glasgow's page was by a certain Longdendale councilor. He made the assumption that I was a member of an opposing party. I would also like to add that I have never been investigated by the police.

Has anyone the KUDOS to be aquainted with "The rhyme of the ancient mariner"?

Doth walk in fear and dread,
And having once turned round walks on,
And turns no more his head;
Because he knows a frightful fiend
Doth close behind him tread."

The next time you THINK you hear the tap-tap-tap of a CRIPPLE'S walking stick...............

A message to homodefender.

You are wrong to suggest that I wouldn't complain if heterosexual couples were flaunting themselves in the street. Of course I would and do.In fact, when I describe such people I am far less careful with my words than I am when descibing the revolting antics at 'gay pride'. In this context, whether you are homosexual or heterosexual doesn't matter. I am against degenerate behaviour on the streets. This includes the behaviour of the whores and drunks that I have to put up with on a Saturday night.

I also noticed that you played your trump card. (This is the gay equivalent of the race card).
Anyone who dares to critise your antics is smeared as a closet gay.
For your information, just because I said a few things you don't like doesn't mean I have 'something to hide'.

Tom Hagen said...

ncb1970 so what you are saying is that the BNP have given up on their old policy of banning homosexuality? It is OK, as long as it is kept in home. So if the BNP were to ever get into power, are we to no longer have gay bars and night clubs?

The whole point of the pride march was for equal civil rights. Not a parade of commercialisation. You and many others see it as a bunch of freaks walking down the street.

I chose not to go this year based on how commercialized the event has become and how little it has to do with the history of previous marches for LGBT rights and for the charities involved.

Tameside Citizen said...

I will give TonyDJ 10/10 for his research skills. It just goes to show that everything you do on the internet can be traced back to you. A salutary lesson for all!

Tameside Citizen said...

Liam, you are not the only person that boycotted this years Pride because of the blatant over commercialisation of the event. The exact same thing has happened to the Brighton equivalent as you are probably aware. I also know of people with grave concerns about the armed services using the event for recruitment drives.

The BNP would not ban
homosexuality as this is impossible. A person's sexual orientation is genetic.

We think the family should be promoted by the media/schools etc in the best interests of children.

'Gay zones' are an affront to a civilised society.

Liam, having looked you up on the internet it appears you are a man with great tech knowledge. I am due an upgrade on my phone, I was thinking of getting the Nokia N95 but have been told they have a poor battery life - so that is a instant non starter. The Sony Ericsson K810i looks pretty good, but has been round for a while now. I require something with video capability, a half decent camera and expandable memory. Is there anything new on the horizon I should wait for?

what about the new i phone that is supposed to be really cool?

Ncb1970, I too strongly believe in a nuclear family with strong traditional values, however you cannot ignore the fact that there are gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people in this world. Children don’t need to be aware of the ins and outs of sex, but they should be made aware so that it is tolerated and seen as being perfectly acceptable. If we go off what you say that being gay is genetic, should a child feel insecure that they have to hide their feelings? Surely you would be making the situation far worse.

You complain about gay zones be affront to a civilized society. Just what have you got to prove that? Have you ever been down Canal Street? I can tell you now that there is less crime going on in the gay village than what there is across central Manchester. In fact, I shall be as bold to say that the majority of crimes committed in the gay village are by straight people. As for Canal Street being a “gay ghetto” along with parts of Hulme and Salford, the reason why these have formed in the last few years is because of the lack of community support and awareness from other groups and the police. As you maybe aware, Blues in Ashton shut down, and the real reason for that was because gay men did not feel safe in the area and as a result they lost their customers as they moved to these “ghettos” which are often seen as a safe haven. You don’t even need to be gay to realize how dangerous Ashton town centre is at nights and Stalybridge is rapidly creeping up as the scrotes move on to find “trouble”.

As for the armed forces comment, it’s not an area that I am very much aware of. All I see it as the MoD ticking boxes as to meet targets over “equal opportunities”. I have a friend who was kicked out of the RAF years ago because he admitted he was gay.

Funnily enough, the Highways Agency decided to sponsor gay pride this year.

Ex Para, as for a phone, I would strongly recommend getting a HTC TyTN II. It is my next new purchase. The iPhone is for iDiots.

Gay zones are immoral full stop.

Manchester is a laughing stock around the world because of this gay zone and the ludicrous gay pride festival.

What a tradegy! We should be celebrating the fact that Manchester was at the centre of the industrial revolution, this is what we should be promoting, OUR HERITAGE.

Manchester should be known all over the world for it's industrial heritage. Instead, we are laughed at for glorifying sodomy.

My sister's friend works in Japan as a Teacher. She says that we are an absolute laughing stock over there. On state Japanese television they report on things like Manchester's gay festivals. The Japanese think we're all degenerate perverts.

Is anyone proud of this ?

These gays, like the ethnics, are given the red carpet treatment and they're still not happy.

It should be the English marching for their rights.

Why on Earth should gay folk want to come to a dump like Tameside?....Nu Labour dimwits controlling the Council and the BNP running riot on the council estates. No thanks....the Proles can keep Tameside.

Mind you there are some Big Muscles marching with the BNP....and there have been secret handbag carriers on the extreme Right before - with the National Front,I recall.

And as to Gayboy-DS - well, you have to be logged into Gaydar to view the profile and that means you have to have registered and made a profile of your own ...so what is your Gaydar profile .Mike?....Big Butch BNP Bear who prefers to BOTTOM!

As to HM Forces - there do seem to be a few ex-personnel offering their services to male clients - see the Commercial section.Knob-jockeys in the Forces ?...never!Who would of thought - privates on parade.

Martin Webster and his lover boy and M15 agent Peter Marriner were both raving homosexuals. Webster hates the BNP with a passion. He once famously marched through Hyde in the 1970's when he was the defacto leader of the National Front. This march become famous for being the 'one man march' because he marched on his own to protest at a police ban on the National Front who were 'verboten' from marching through Hyde.

Another blatant homosexual and Nazi was Michael Kühnen.

And to complete our trio of gay boy Nazi wannabees, how could we forget Nicky Crane - another victim of HIV.

Gennaro, you are guilty of crude stereotyping, 'the BNP running riot on council estates'.

What is interesting about queens like you is that you squeal like a baby when anyone stereotypes homosexuals , you call them haters etc, yet you constantly stereotype groups you don't like.

You obviously feel threatened by the BNP.

Anonymous said...

Ex Para

Great point by NCB.

Anonymous said...

Gays etc. have the same rights to be in public spaces as everybody else does. Tough if you don't like it.

As others state, the variety of human sexualities are fact, as much as people may want to condone 'family values'. Trying to 'cover-up' the fact that gay people exist, and have a right to be in public, isn't going to change this fact: it's just likely to result in a greater divide within our society, which does no-one any good.

And if events (open to everyone, regardless of sexuality) result in
increased business income, for hotels, restaurants, cafes etc. then we are doing a disservice to the local business community in trying to prevent people from enjoying their lives, and some hard earned freedoms, from helping businesses. Income earned filters through the local culture, and is a benefit to a much wider market than just people having a good time.

Tom Hagen said...

Sorry for not replying to this topic for a while, but it hasn't been on my priority list as I find it hard to believe that the BNP and a Labour party councillor would get so wrapped up in the whole gay issue.

Ncb1970, please define gay zones. If you mean areas of social gatherings such as Canal Street, cruising areas such as Daisy Nook? Whilst I don't see anything immoral with Canal Street, I can understand if you feel offended with cruising grounds.

Tonydj, what was the purpose of that comment? Are you condemning islamic law or are you condoning it. As a BNP member, I think you were praising it as many of BNP members are against homosexuality. Quite ironic since Nick Griffin described Islam being a "wicked faith" and there you are quoting their laws.

tonydj said...

Liam,
Likewise, I've been busy.
No, I am not praising Sharia law or Islam. I am pointing out that whatever you may THINK our views on this subject are we all KNOW where Islam stands. And while I have no doubt that there may be some in the party who lean towards the Islamic view on this matter I am not one of them.

Anonymous said...

Quite right.

Sharia law is abhorrent, particularly in relation to
adulterers and homosexuals.
