Best places to visit - Longdendale
This is a nice photographic slide show of Londendale and the surrounding area, however there are a few photographs in this little montage which are definately not in Longdendale nor anywhere near. Can you spot them?

More illegal tipping
This time on the lane in between the Audenshaw Reservoir and the railway line. Look at the address on the envelope and you will see it is from Macclesfield. Why come from Macclesfield to Tameside to illegally tip waste?

Tameside heroes and villians
Compare these two photographs taken today. The one below is of yet more illegal fly-tipping in Denton and the one above, also taken in Denton, is of Brian, a true local hero who come rain, hail or shine is to be found in the woods clearing up rubbish, unblocking drains and generally keeping the place nice for those who care about the woodland environment. He does all this without any kind of financial reward and it is worth adding that Brian is 81 years of age. Well done Brian - you are a true local hero!
Now think of the contrast when you look at the picture below and you think of the people responsible for this illegal tipping. I was thinking to myself of the thought process that leads to such actions. Here is one scenario: Eh up love, the new carpet and sofa is coming tomorrow, but what are we going to do with the ones we already have? We will have to chuck them out, where? In the street or the park where we usually dump rubbish of course.

Council estates, fly-tipping and Staffordshire Bull Terriers
Without wishing to be accused of casting dispersions I have noticed that on average, and according to my visual but unscientific observations, it appears to me that council estates are far more likely to be blighted by casual fly-tipping than other housing locations.
Of course rogue builders and organised criminal fly-tippers prefer country lanes and remote locations free from prying eyes, but as for casual small scale fly-tipping it appears that council estates suffer more than other locations.
While walking the dog yesterday near to Cardiff Walk in Denton I came across the mess pictured above. Surely someone must have spotted the people responsible?
Also in relation to council estates, has anyone else noticed that every second dog is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, I wonder why this is?

Tyranny of majority
The former Conservative Prime Minister John Major has waded into the Brexit debate by saying those in favour of leaving should not dictate the terms of withdrawing from the European Union.
Speaking at a dinner in Westminster at the National Liberal Club, marking the 100th anniversary of Lloyd George becoming Prime Minister, he said that the “tyranny of the majority” should not dictate terms. More here
This intervention by former Prime Minister Major and Blair just the other day perfectly illustaites the total and utter contempt these people hold for the views of the majority of Britons and it proves that they are instinctively anti-democratic by nature. They believe in 'democracy' as long as they dictate what democracy actually means, as soon as the people show their displeasure and call for something different the Elite drop their pretence and reveal their true colours. Why?
Why would you go to the trouble of illegally tipping this cardboard when it would have fitted into a blue TMBC paper and cardboard recycling bin? It defies logic!

The Elite Play Their Hand And Show Their Total Disregard For The Democratic Process And The Will Of The People
Richard Branson’s Virgin Group is to help bankroll a campaign set up in secret by Blairite former ministers and advisers to derail Brexit, The Independent can reveal.
An email seen by The Independent highlights the scale of backing the group has already secured. It shows the campaign has been months in the planning and claims “substantial progress” has already been made, including the identification of “an excellent potential CEO”. The memo was written by Alan Milburn, who was one of Tony Blair’s closest cabinet allies.
It reveals the group has heavy financial, political and corporate backing and is receiving advice and support from a host of high-level business and communications organisations. More here: The Independent
UKIP Members
Are often nasty people according to this sticker I spotted in Hyde yesterday. If that's the worst they can come up with against UKIP members, imagine what three words could be used to describe Labour Party members.

Inside The Slaughterhouse
I could not work at a place like this no matter how desperate I was as I would never sleep at night because of nightmares.
Would you be comfortable working at a slaughterhouse?

The Roy West Saga
Roy West who is a local film maker and community activist recently appeared at Manchester Crown Court over an aledged internet related offence. Mr West has been on unconditional bail for the aledged offence for over three years now. Mr West has appeared in court numerous times over the last three years in relation to the aledged offence. One can only speculate as to the cost to the tax payer but it will be significant.

Dreaming Of A White Christmas
I love it when it snows and I was surprised to see it arrive so early this year. I took this photograph earlier today and even though it was just a light dusting, doesn't it make for a nice picture?

Litter Bomb: Call The Council
I lifted this video from Youtube. It's not a good advertisement for Tameside but unfortunately it is a reality.
Thankyou to the intrepid commumity activist who filmed it.

Is This The Most Inconsiderate Motorist In Tameside?
Completely blocking the pavement on Mancunian Road leaving pedestrians no option but to take their chances by either walking on the road or walking on the sodden grass but spare a thought for those who may have to pass in a wheelchair or mobility scooter. If they chance getting round this obstruction by going on the heavily sodden grass it's almost certain that they would get bogged down and stuck. Some people are just so thoughtless!

Vandals On The Rampage In Denton
I came across this last night. If the perpetrators were caught the chances are nothing would happen, the mindless morons responsible know that too.
This type of anti-social vandalism could easily be stopped if the will to do so existed. One solution would be, once the perpetrators are caught and positively identified, take them down to the village green without ceremony and flog them with a Cat o' nine tails and then send them on their way without further ado, but not before telling them that if they ever commit a similar crime they will get the same again but double - problem solved! Of course such a solution would never be considered under current rules as the perpetrators 'rights' might be infringed upon but thankfully times are a changing and Generation Snowflake might yet wake up with a hard landing as a new West begins to emerge from the ashes of the old failed system.

Dukinfield Slaughterhouse
There is an interesting article in the Manchester Evening News today about a wonderful young man who recently carried out a week long vigil outside a slaughterhouse on Bow Street in Dukinfield. The article can be read here and the figures are truly blood curdling when you realise that 3000 pigs per day are being slaughtered at this site.
The gentleman featured in the Manchester Evening News is not the first to highlight the horror of what goes on at this particular slaughterhouse and I am sure this slaughterhouse is no different than any other. The video above is from a local filmmaker who has been holding vigils and comforting animals on the way for slaughter for years.
Pigs are intelligent animals and many may be surprised to discover that in IQ tests they can outsmart chimpanzees and dogs, read more here.
If you watch the video above and at 0.26 look into the eyes of the poor condemned creature you cannot help but feel sorry. Those eyes are saying to me please help me. As well as a high level of intelligence, pigs also have a powerful sense of smell and good hearing. They can undoubtedly smell the blood and hear the squeals of those being slaughtered before them.
I have tried for years to adopt a meat free diet. I had a Damascene moment a number of years ago while walking my dogs along the Peak Forest Canal. Prior to that I was a happy meat eater and I viewed many animals as a mere commodity to be consumed by those at the top of the food chain. I gave not a second thought as to what intelligence, feelings and emotions these creatures may or may not posses. I viewed ethical vegetarians as 'tree huggers' and when debating the rights and wrongs of meat consumption I would put forward arguments such as we are born carnivores which is proven by our teeth which are ideal for ripping meat and even more ridiculously, if God wanted us to be vegetarian why did he make animals out of meat.
I never fully managed to become a vegetarian but I am 95% of the way to being completely meat free. One thing is for sure; when I do have a moment of weakness and I revert back to my old ways I never enjoy it. Even if the taste is nice, the feeling of guilt is always there.
Advertising is where my weakness lies. I remember seeing a particularly eye catching Lurpak advert featuring a bacon sandwich and next thing I know I am on the meat aisle looking at all these exotic varieties of bacon and it all looks so harmless. Nicely presented packages, no hint of blood or suffering and it smells so good when being cooked. You then bite into it and the egg yolk on top begins to trickle down over the bacon but then for a nano second your conscience tells you that the the runny substance is not egg yolk but blood from the animal which had suffered so much before it was killed, dissected and neatly packaged and the next thing you know, it no longer tastes nearly as nice as you imagined it would.

Illegal Fly Tipping: Mill Lane, Denton
Look what has appeared on Mill Lane overnight. What type of scruffs would do such a thing? I believe this rubbish was dumped by someone in a car as the spot they chose would have given them a clear view toward Haughton Green in one direction and Hyde in the other and therefore all they had to do was stop when the coast was clear and dump it. If the filthy tramps responsible read this they should be ashamed of themselves!

Hail President Trump - The Pollsters Should Have Checked Out The Tameside Citizen Poll of Polls
Brexit and President Trump, how could the pollsters not have correctly predicted these two 'shock' seismic world changing events? Not only did they not predict these events but with the predictions they did make, they got so spectacularly wrong.
Readers of the TC blog will recall that the pre-Brexit poll on the Tameside Citizen blog did indicate that the United Kingdom would vote for a Brexit. The Tameside Citizen poll on the U.S. Presidential Election also predicted a victory for Donald Trump. Why did TC readers have their finger on the pulse when professional pollsters obviously did not?
One thing is certain, 2016 will be a year looked back upon as the year when the silent majority, the maligned and marginalised finally spoke in unison and made their voices heard. The astonishing arrogance of the Establishment pundits combined with their contempt for the Working Class has really shaken their ivory tower world, but they still have no idea of the dynamic behind these world changing events. Unbelievably and as the votes were being counted in the U.S. election you had commentators talking of an exceptionally large turnout of Rednecks and Hicks, they really do not get it and that is what is beautiful about watching them squeal and squirm.
The French Presidential election is the next one to watch out for. Let's hope those who have worked tirelessly for the destruction of France as a recognisable European nation use the same Stronger Together line as recently used by Remain in the UK and Hilary Clinton in the U.S. Presidential race.
