John Taylor, Deputy Leader of the council for one. He regularly posts the Israeli flag on his website. I once posted and asked if he was Jewish, to which he replied yes.
President Truman, a man of integrity and moral and physical courage had publically expressed his reservations about the methods being used to found the state of Israel. He was told in 1947 that if he didn't demonstrate total support for the Jews in their ongoing attempts to set up Israel, he would forfeit the backing, financial and otherwise, from American Jews. This would definitely have cost him the 1948 election as the massive and influential Zionist backing would have been switched directly to his republican opponent Thomas Dewey. Truman acquiesced and won.

I agree, why do you need 57 councillors? This means that there is a councillor for every 3,000 people. Now the Bollinger Bolsheviks at the council will protest they already do enough. That's because they have never seen a proper days graft. They pontificate on their arses all day to do bugger all for their average allowance of over £19,500 per year. This is just slightly over what the average person in Tameside earns - doing a full time job may I add. The LGA states the average councillor spends 15.5 hours a week doing their elected duties. Can you really see any of them at TMBC touching anywhere near that?
Why is it that you have a former mill girl on over £30k? A former market trader and car clocker on over £45k as deputy leader? The next biggest swindle the Advertiser want to publish is how many of the councillors actually have a job. I can tell you the number is less than 10.
The councillors are old and tired and just use it to top up their pensions, trips abroad to Benidorm or facilitate it as a nice little fund for their villa abroad. Why do Labour want to cut front line jobs in order to protect the Guardian reading, Bourgeoisie, managers and senior executive team? It's because they're all a bunch of yes men who know nothing about what they're doing and that's why the borough is in this mess it is in.
Oh and Kieran's favourite, Andrew Doubleday is now officially off the candidates list. Any bets as to what cushy number he may land in a local quango?
I don't think the number of councillors is the problem. Three councillors a ward means that the workload can be managed effectively by the elected members. Being a councillor is, after all, a voluntary post which many people do on top of their real jobs.
In the same vein, councillors shouldn't enjoy a very generous allowance (about £11,000 - perhaps someone could correct me on that?). Surely, a small allowance for stationery and long distance travel is all that is needed. We must put the sacrifice back into public service.
If we HAVE to hae three councillors why not introduce proportional representation into local elections? All three seats in a ward are voted for every 4 years (saving the cost of two elections). For every 33% of the vote a party gets a seat.
Better still, vote for all the seats in the district assemblies, so in Ashton, for example, with 12 seats the parties would get one seat per 8.3% approx.
Why not increase the number of councillors to 228 and then elect them by proportional representation in each town. Then the BNP (or whatever the reincarnate in next)may have a couple of councillors, presuming, of course, that they still have enough members to put up as candidates. - lol

First time post but I feel I must comment because this is a subject close to my heart. I believe the problem is not in the number of councillors but the obscene amount of money they receive for doing naff all. My brother in law who will remain anonymous is a Labour councillor in Droylsden. Even he says once elected it really is money for nothing. He tells us there are councillors who view it as a job for life with more free perks than anyone could imagine. There are far more capable people who would do the job of councillors on a voluntary basis and this way the interests of the community would be best served.

Leave the in-fighting to the Councillors and at present they must be laughing seeing your cross banter having no effect on them. They certainly didn`t laugh when I found the Tameside MBC administered Greater Manchester Pension Fund had stuffed £27 million into the United Utilities funds behind the scenes,whilst United Utils were the landowners of the massive Kingswater/Waterside site,and with TMBC/United Utils fighting like crazy to do a double deal and get the Development Plans through a Public Inquiry, the facts came out about the financial link. The Deputy PM at the time then blocked the Development Plans. Such things are possible and I`m not short of other findings located which should have cleared the decks if No 10 under Blair hadn`t kept stum and letting Tamesiders get cr---ed on.

On that subject it has always made me angry that the flyover from the M67 to the A57 wasn't completed. Anyone who has had to sit in traffic at that junction knows its a must and would speed the traffic up.

Where did the myth generate from re TMBC not wantingKingswater/Waterside. It was R.Oldhams intended claim to fame to get this 12 year fight won,anfd I know because I cross examined almost everyday at the PI for 3 months. Likewise he lost his next demand for fame with the Mottram ByPass when a handful of us after 3 years of dedicated research found the Evidence suppied by TMBC/Highways Agency was deliberately codged and seriously flawed. Check the thousands of documents concerning Waterside/Kingwater/Bypass and the facts destroyed TMBC`s case. Interested re how many folk have trawled the Councillors Declaration of Interests by sitting in Ashton Offices and copying the facts. I was staggered when I compiled my list showing no legally declared interests were listed for some Councillors who had avoided the required annual declarations for between 4 and 12 YEARS YES 12 YEARS.and they know who they were at that time because some still are Councillors. Whoever disputes what I offer please realise I do not provide rhetoric but facts backed up by substantiated documentation,from searches made over a 12 year period. If facts get rubbished by the electorate then no wonder TMBC still rules OK.
Great post by ‘anonymous’. The standard of comments has increased dramatically over recent days. You are 100% correct about Kingswater and the Longendale by-pass, but let’s remember the Droylsden Marina fiasco and the abomination known as Tesco which they have approved at Hattersley. There are so many bent councillors on the take in Tameside it is fair compare some aspects of the borough to the way politics is done in former Soviet republics.
All that good work done, by a few individuals, to root out SOME of the things Tameside Labour have got up to. However the postal voting system and enough cretins, spongers and foreigners have ensured Labour rule supreme in the Borough.

A man has died after setting himself on fire in Saudi Arabia's south-western region of Jizan, officials have said.
Reports in the Saudi media say the man, who was in his 60s, set himself on fire using a petroleum product in the town of Samitah, and died later in hospital.
There have been several acts of self-immolation in the Arab world, mimicking the suicide of a man in Tunisia which provoked the anti-government uprising.
A Mauritanian man who set himself on fire also died in hospital on Saturday.

Have you noticed how the TV soaps, Eastenders, Coronation street and Emmerdale, and radio soaps like The Archers all appear to have been written by the same politically correct cabal of writers ?
Each one them no longer reflects in any way the reality of the area or lives of the communities and people they are supposed to represent. Lets take Eastenders. Here was see a soap set in the East End of London where the majority of people are White and still speak English. The reality though is that in England 40 % of Muslims live in London where they make up 8.5 % of the population. Go to the East End of London and if you are white and English, you will be an ethnic minority. Even the street signs are written in Punjabi, such in Brick Lane ( 1)
Eastenders is a fictitious soap though supposedly based on an area of the East End such as Upton Park, where the Queens Market was once filled with barrows selling fruit and vegetables to a predominantly white community. That community has now gone.

That is the reality of the East End of London but is that reality reflected in soaps like Eastenders ? Of course not, simply as those soaps are multi-cultural propaganda disguised as entertainment.
The aim of such soaps, which are written by left wing and liberal writers employed by the impeccably politically correct BBC, is not to reflect reality but to warp our perceptions of society and undermine our national culture.
This attempt to undermine our national culture is most often seen during Christmas.
One can always be certain of one thing at Christmas when one watches TV with the kids and family, that Eastenders, Coronation Street and Emmerdale during the festive season will contain a constant stream of domestic abuse, murder, violence, abortions, cot deaths, rape and just about any other atrocity that the warped minds of the writers can come up with.
This onslaught of negativity is not accidental, as it is specifically designed to associate Christmas in the minds of the viewers not with joy, love and hope but with a sense of hopelessness, shock and negativity. The aim is undermine our cultural traditions by constantly associating them with negativity in the minds of the viewers. When families gather round the TV at Christmas, the writers wish to poison such rare events when they switch the TV on. That way when people look back at Christmas later in the year, they associate it with the negative imagery, emotions and trauma that they experienced by watching the TV soaps.

The stepson of the same farmer, Adam Macy, has returned and “come out” and has begun an affair with the new Grey Gables chef, a homosexual Ulsterman with a bizarre persona – think of a young and mincing Ian Paisley.
White characters introduced into the serial in the past decade or so have shown a new trend. A surprising number of them are not English. The homosexual Ulster chef is one example., the loutish Scotchman Jazza McCreadie another. Then there was the now dead beautiful Irish siren who seduced Brian Aldridge. Their love-child Ruairi (pronounced Rory) has lived for several years in England since he came to England aged four yet still speaks with a broad Irish accent. As many listeners and reviewers have pointed out, in real life he would long ago have lost his Irish accent. However, that would not fit in with the determination of those in charge of the serial to promote their multicultural fantasy. ”
When they are not dying, the Ambridge men are going in for armed robbery (Clive Horribin), becoming down-and-outs and taking class A drugs (Ed Grundy), suffering brain damage through taking ketamine (Jazza McCready), having affairs and fathering a bastard (Brian Aldridge), engaging in racist acid attacks (Roy Tucker), committing adultery with your brother’s wife (Ed Grundy), engaging in violent assault (Will Grundy), committing rape (the rape of Cathy Perks), vandalising property (Jamie Perks), becoming addicted to gambling (Alastair Hebbden-Lloyd), engaging in massive fraud ( Matt Crawford and Stephen Chalkman) or simply going senile (Jack Woolley). Yet again we see that aim of the script writers for the show is not to reflect the reality of a small rural community, but to depict such a community as a place where the locals are white, evil and badly mad in need of some wonderful BBC state sponsored politically correct multi-cultural enrichment.
The TV soap Emmerdale is yet another example of the hate that the cosmopolitan, liberal elite has for the people of rural England and our traditional indigenous culture.
This small rural village is a place where mixed race schoolgirl lesbianism, homosexuality, rape, murder, violence and gun crime are rampant. In fact one wonders why the local Emmerdale police haven’t set up their own version of the Met Police’s Operation Trident, perhaps re-named as Operation Pitchfork, to deal with the plethora of white on white shootings, killings and gun crime in the wild west of the Emmerdale countryside. The inhabitants of Emmerdale, mostly white of course, are constantly mocked as inbred, genetically mutated, stupid red necks like the Dingle family or wonderful, caring ethnics and homosexuals who are all fully integrated in this bastion of multi-culturalism and seeking to enlighten the local white savages with their ‘politically correct wisdom’ .
The entertainment industry is simply a peddler of filth, lies and propaganda.
The sad fact is that our society today is more atomised than ever before. People no longer live in communities, they exist as individuals locked behind their front doors. Therefore their ideas of society and the social consensus is dictated to them by the media itself. Most people think that what they see in the TV soaps IS a reflection of what goes outside their front doors.
Anyone who has children will know that kids constantly mimic the language, attitudes and bad behaviour of the children in the TV shows they watch. The explicit aim of such TV shows is to get children to hold their own parents, culture and identity in total contempt – especially if they are white and English children. Only when all English children are as morally and culturally as the liberals that write the shows they watch will the work of the culture destroyers be done. Even shows like Doctor Who and Torchwood, written by the Queer as Folk writer Russel T Davies, were able to degenerate into an advert for promiscuity, homosexuality and bisexuality. The writers of such shows seek to depict their minority lifestyle choices as somehow ‘cool and contemporary’ and then indoctrinate children into adopting those lifestyles as well.
The media and the entertainment industry are the primary destroyers of our national culture. The corporations that commission and create the filth they peddle to the masses in the guise of entertainment are run by corrupt, degenerate and cynical haters of Britain, British society and British culture.
I know off topic is occuring but what disturbs me is how the shamed in Tameside are re-instated into other important roles,instead of being banished for good. Whether it be Simon Walker the head of Tameside Radio ex-Labour Councillor and involved in the TEL (Tameside Enterprise Ltd) scandal who gained a grant for the new station from TMBC via its leadership (remeber there`s nowt for nowt on this earth)plus the Tameside Councillors who have kept quiet on what has been occuring at Tameside Hospital over recent years whilst they themselves were part of the Hospital structure in meetings and why didn`t Taylor and recently Warrington friends of the Hosp Chief Exective who have remained silent concerning their administrative role with the Hospital. And my present need to know is whether the same Company has the present large contract with TMBC for the purchase of waste bins,even though the Tameside Councillor who was a senior employee of the Bin Company is no longer with us. And for good measure how can A Gwynne and Councillor Warrington get away with duping the House of Commons Registers when they both forgot she was a Councillor and recorded her role as an assistant to Gwynne with the Declation of Interests shown a NONE on the Hof Co Registers,plus also forgot her other 2 paid external roles. How do you forget where your coinsiderable income is comming from,and indicate NO Interests. With these facts proved they also got away with that,"funny old world" isn`t it Tamesiders. My other concerns I feel sure will come too mind.

The sale of the woodlands would raise £250 million which is 1/53 part of the sacrosanct and ever increasing international aid budget. Currently a massive £13200 million (£13.2 billion). Who checks on who ?? It appears that Tameside Councillor Brenda Warrington is closely linked and a member of the Tameside Hospital Trust since January 2009 and Councillor John Taylor was a member of the Trust previously until his resignation January 2009. THE former chairman of Blackpool football club, one-time media baron and convicted rapist Owen Oyston has teamed up with a Labour peer to run a Spanish estate-agent. Oyston, jailed for raping a 16-year-old model, has bought the firm in Marbella on the Costa del Sol. Since his release he has consistently protested his innocence.

Please deal with the legitimate questions that people ask regarding Ms Stewart's legal training. There IS a question mark over whether or not she is a genuine solicitor. Nobody has said she isn't, they have merely raised the question, which is their right as a citizen of this country.
Re Ms Stewart Borough Solicitor As I recall no mention was made as regards her present qualifications "whatsoever". But because it would appear that on joining TMBC she was not a fully qualified Solicitor the question was posed as to whether TMBC paid for her further education and qualifications.

But would you not agree some of these 'council staff' are grossly overpaid, especially given the chronic wage suppression endured by millions of ordinary British workers in the last few years. I agree, why do you need 57 councillors? This means that there is a councillor for every 3,000 people. Now the Bollinger Bolsheviks at the council will protest they already do enough. That's because they have never seen a proper days graft. They pontificate on their arses all day to do bugger all for their average allowance of over £19,500 per year. This is just slightly over what the average person in Tameside earns - doing a full time job may I add. The LGA states the average councillor spends 15.5 hours a week doing their elected duties. Can you really see any of them at TMBC touching anywhere near that?
Why is it that you have a former mill girl on over £30k? A former market trader and car clocker on over £45k as deputy leader? The next biggest swindle the Advertiser want to publish is how many of the councillors actually have a job. I can tell you the number is less than 10.
The councillors are old and tired and just use it to top up their pensions, trips abroad to Benidorm or facilitate it as a nice little fund for their villa abroad. Why do Labour want to cut front line jobs in order to protect the Guardian reading, Bourgeoisie, managers and senior executive team? It's because they're all a bunch of yes men who know nothing about what they're doing and that's why the borough is in this mess it is in.

I don't think the number of councillors is the problem. Three councillors a ward means that the workload can be managed effectively by the elected members. Being a councillor is, after all, a voluntary post which many people do on top of their real jobs.
In the same vein, councillors shouldn't enjoy a very generous allowance (about £11,000 - perhaps someone could correct me on that?). Surely, a small allowance for stationery and long distance travel is all that is needed. We must put the sacrifice back into public service.
If we HAVE to hae three councillors why not introduce proportional representation into local elections? All three seats in a ward are voted for every 4 years (saving the cost of two elections). For every 33% of the vote a party gets a seat.
Better still, vote for all the seats in the district assemblies, so in Ashton, for example, with 12 seats the parties would get one seat per 8.3% approx.
Why not increase the number of councillors to 228 and then elect them by proportional representation in each town. Then the BNP (or whatever the reincarnate in next)may have a couple of councillors, presuming, of course, that they still have enough members to put up as candidates. - lol

First time post but I feel I must comment because this is a subject close to my heart. I believe the problem is not in the number of councillors but the obscene amount of money they receive for doing naff all. My brother in law who will remain anonymous is a Labour councillor in Droylsden. Even he says once elected it really is money for nothing. He tells us there are councillors who view it as a job for life with more free perks than anyone could imagine. There are far more capable people who would do the job of councillors on a voluntary basis and this way the interests of the community would be best served.

Have you noticed how the TV soaps, Eastenders, Coronation street and Emmerdale, and radio soaps like The Archers all appear to have been written by the same politically correct cabal of writers ?

Here was see a soap set in the East End of London where the majority of people are White and still speak English. Eastenders is a fictitious soap though supposedly based on an area of the East End such as Upton Park, where the Queens Market was once filled with barrows selling fruit and vegetables to a predominantly white community. That community has now gone.

The aim of such soaps, which are written by left wing and liberal writers employed by the impeccably politically correct BBC, is not to reflect reality but to warp our perceptions of society and undermine our national culture.
This attempt to undermine our national culture is most often seen during Christmas.
One can always be certain of one thing at Christmas when one watches TV with the kids and family, that Eastenders, Coronation Street and Emmerdale during the festive season will contain a constant stream of domestic abuse, murder, violence, abortions, cot deaths, rape and just about any other atrocity that the warped minds of the writers can come up with.
This onslaught of negativity is not accidental, as it is specifically designed to associate Christmas in the minds of the viewers not with joy, love and hope but with a sense of hopelessness, shock and negativity. The aim is undermine our cultural traditions by constantly associating them with negativity in the minds of the viewers. When families gather round the TV at Christmas, the writers wish to poison such rare events when they switch the TV on. That way when people look back at Christmas later in the year, they associate it with the negative imagery, emotions and trauma that they experienced by watching the TV soaps.
Another example is the radio show The Archers.

When they are not dying, the Ambridge men are going in for armed robbery (Clive Horribin), becoming down-and-outs and taking class A drugs (Ed Grundy), suffering brain damage through taking ketamine (Jazza McCready), having affairs and fathering a bastard (Brian Aldridge), engaging in racist acid attacks (Roy Tucker), committing adultery with your brother’s wife (Ed Grundy), engaging in violent assault (Will Grundy), committing rape (the rape of Cathy Perks), vandalising property (Jamie Perks), becoming addicted to gambling (Alastair Hebbden-Lloyd), engaging in massive fraud ( Matt Crawford and Stephen Chalkman) or simply going senile (Jack Woolley). Yet again we see that aim of the script writers for the show is not to reflect the reality of a small rural community, but to depict such a community as a place where the locals are white, evil and badly mad in need of some wonderful BBC state sponsored politically correct multi-cultural enrichment.
The TV soap Emmerdale is yet another example of the hate that the cosmopolitan, liberal elite has for the people of rural England and our traditional indigenous culture.

In fact one wonders why the local Emmerdale police haven’t set up their own version of the Met Police’s Operation Trident, perhaps re-named as Operation Pitchfork, to deal with the plethora of white on white shootings, killings and gun crime in the wild west of the Emmerdale countryside. Most people think that what they see in the TV soaps IS a reflection of what goes outside their front doors.
Anyone who has children will know that kids constantly mimic the language, attitudes and bad behaviour of the children in the TV shows they watch. The explicit aim of such TV shows is to get children to hold their own parents, culture and identity in total contempt – especially if they are white and English children. Only when all English children are as morally and culturally as the liberals that write the shows they watch will the work of the culture destroyers be done. Even shows like Doctor Who and Torchwood, written by the Queer as Folk writer Russel T Davies, were able to degenerate into an advert for promiscuity, homosexuality and bisexuality. The writers of such shows seek to depict their minority lifestyle choices as somehow ‘cool and contemporary’ and then indoctrinate children into adopting those lifestyles as well.
The media and the entertainment industry are the primary destroyers of our national culture. The corporations that commission and create the filth they peddle to the masses in the guise of entertainment are run by corrupt, degenerate and cynical haters of Britain, British society and British culture.

and Councillor John Taylor was a member of the Trust previously until his resignation January 2009.

THE former chairman of Blackpool football club, one-time media baron and convicted rapist Owen Oyston has teamed up with a Labour peer to run a Spanish estate-agent.

Please deal with the legitimate questions that people ask regarding Ms Stewart's legal training. There IS a question mark over whether or not she is a genuine solicitor. Nobody has said she isn't, they have merely raised the question, which is their right as a citizen of this country.
Re Ms Stewart Borough Solicitor
As I recall no mention was made as regards her present qualifications "whatsoever".
But because it would appear that on joining TMBC she was not a fully qualified Solicitor the question was posed as to whether TMBC paid for her further education and qualifications.

Tameside's Executives are poor quality and can't believe their luck that they find themselves on huge salaries. However they are VERY sensitive to criticism.
Those that really value themselves don't worry about a bit of muck being flung. Those that know they don't deserve their huge rewards can't stand people telling them what they already fear themselves.

I laughed and laughed when I saw Jones's implied claim that he was, in some way, responsible for the Carillion story. Much more likely is his responsibility for "Monitor"

On another point, I do not like these persomal attacks on council staff. They merely carry out the duties assigned to them by the elected councillors.
Elected councillors, on the other hand, are fair game.
Good point as usual Mr Jones. But would you not agree some of these 'council staff' are grossly overpaid, especially given the chronic wage suppression endured by millions of ordinary British workers in the last few years. Ironically caused by Labour's mass importation of cheap foreign labour.

Young children are to be taught about homosexuality in their maths, geography, science and English lessons, it has emerged.
As part of a Government-backed drive to ‘celebrate the gay community’, maths problems could be introduced that involve gay characters.
In geography classes, students will be asked why homosexuals move from the countryside to cities – and words such as ‘outing’ and ‘pride’, will be used in language classes.
The lesson plans are designed to raise awareness about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual issues and, in theory, could be used for children as young as four.
They will also mean youngsters are exposed to images of same-sex couples and books such as And Tango Makes Three, which tells the story of two male penguins raising a chick, which was inspired by events at New York’s Central Park Zoo.
However critics warn that the drive is an unnecessary use of resources and distracts attention from learning, as British schools tumble down international league tables in maths, English and science. Although the lesson plans are not compulsory, they are backed by the Department for Education and will be available for schools to download from the Schools Out website.
