Today marks the 330th anniversary of one of the key events in European history. The victory of the Polish Army, aided by the forces of the Holy Roman Empire, over the Islamic Ottoman horde besieging Vienna.
True to his word King Jan Sobieski III Mustered his army at Krackow and marched south to Vienna where on 12th September 1683 the Ottoman Army was thoroughly beaten.
After the battle King Jan nobly refused the honour of the victory choosing instead to
paraphrase Caesar. "Veni, Vidi, Deus Vicit" "I came, I saw, God conquered"
