Great mysteries of our time

One can only hazard a guess as to why it is that when Cllr John Taylor has letters published in the local press, and a week rarely passes when he does not have a letter published, the letters are grammatically perfect and the spelling is faultless, but when it comes to grammar and spelling on his amusing little blog and YouTube channel the opposite is true.

Only recently did he make an embarrassing blunder by announcing the "Murcian Regiment" of the Spanish army were to parade in Tameside. However, today he uploads a video of the Droylsden St John's Castle Band playing in Dukinfield Park and he titles the video "St Johns Droylesden Dukinfield park".

Now I am no pedant, nor do I make claims of being grammatically perfect with everything I write, but hey, if I was the Deputy Executive Leader of a major metropolitan borough and a prolific writer of letters to the local press I would at least make the effort to get my spelling right and this brings me back to my original point; how come Cllr Taylor's writings are so polished when printed in the local press but so appallingly bad when published on his blog or YouTube channel? Surely he doesn't have an invisible 'letter writer' who writes letters on his behalf?

Or they use a spellcheck when typing them up?

What a job, having to type up the collected wisdom of Sages such as Taylor and Irene Woodcock each week.

Check the activity feed on his yt channel page - he even thumbs up his own videos.

John is a member of Mensa so don't go around trying to convince people he's thick.

I think Pav of Pav's patch in the Reporter, also of Tameside Radio who got the job in Tameside Council media because of his good friend John Taylor writes all his letters.

Look at Councillor Wild in the footage - looks like he doesn't know what bloody time of day it is. He oddly has his back to the band looking dazed and bewildered, tapping his leg to the music and then goes wandering off aimlessly. Alcoholism? Dementia? You decide....

Seriously, does Mike Pav write his letters?' I agree about Wildly, the poor sod looks off of his tree but he's been like that for some time. He's never been the same since Roy exposed his wealth.

They've got a nice peaceful summer with 'the pest' locked away. Amazing how one supposed local nuisance can get so far under their skin isn't it.

They'll both be retired in a few years. God (or Allah) knows what will take their place as the voting habits of the Tameside Mutant Hero Sheep look very unlikely to change.

Could this be why the said councillor rarely answers readers letters? ...It is hard to tell your readers that you are retracting something you said because you didn't actually write it.

Good point Curmudgeon, I've never thought of it like that and that might well be the reason.

It's Mike Pav at the council writing the letters for him. Everyone knows that.

Funnily enough I sent a letter to the press about this very subject.

Dear Editor,

I would like to ask our beloved Deputy Leader of the council who so often frequents your readers letters page some questions.

First of all, does Councillor Taylor write his own letters to the press or is it some council jobsworth looking to climb the ladder writing them for him? Having had a look at Councillor Taylor's own blog, Dukinfield Views, the style of writing is nothing like the basic “the cat sat on the mat” sentences that John Taylor can barely even produce compared to the letters he writes into your fine paper.

This is afterall someone who has his own name tattooed on his knuckles. Perhaps to remember how to spell his own name? Where did you get this tattoo done John? I’m thinking of having a similar one done myself.

On a COMPLETELY different note, I have just got Netflix and what a wonderful thing it is too. I’m currently watching Borstal Boy.

Oh and time to dig out this old picture. I wonder how Taylor's English lessons at "Dovestones" are getting on?

Some time ago I visited the Advertiser Offices then in Ashton complaining about the biased readers letters in particular JT.
The Editor arrived at the scene and stated we are fed up with JT telephoning each day wanting to display his picture plus letters in the Advertiser.
We are sickened by his inability to put 2 words together without mis-spelling because its our staff and time who waste time having to correct words which a 12 year old could easily manage.
I know aspects of JT which should have removed him from TMBC years ago,but the mafia closed ranks with the assistance of the top Labour Party groupies in London.
His time is numbered based on the information forthcoming which should shut him down in Tameside.

Stop teasing and spill the beans then.

I'm sure it would help cheer Roy up in the clink if it's any good...

Interesting post TruthSeeker and I look forward to the day when he is given the boot. I've never been able to forgive him since he targeted the sick in their beds when acting as the borough sickness enforcer.

He must be doing something right that you lot aren't because he keeps on getting reelected.

Yeah he's got a red rosette in Tameside. As long as he doesn't make any obvious major gaffes he'll keep getting reelected.

Of course its Pav who writes his letters. You can see a journalist hand in the style. Anyway, I'm curious as to how a widow cleaner has managed to acquire five homes in Dukinfield? Is the pay that good on the council?

Aye, Wildy is a dark horse. I still piss myself laughing when I think of the look on his face when people started waving tenners at him in the boozer during Roy's expenses expose campaign.

for John "till dipper" Taylor to take delight in any man going to prison just because one does not agree with his politics shows just what a mean spirited individual he truly is .

Yes his letters are written by the press officer at the council. J.T's taxpayer funded job, involve him walking into the office on floor B at the council and watching Sky TV and little else.
