HS2 route to Manchester revealed

Manchester will get two new stations for super-fast bullet trains in a rail revolution worth £1bn a year to the local economy. David Cameron has pledged his support for the scheme, which will put the city at the heart of a Britain’s first high-speed rail network. The route will include two new stations: next door to the existing one at Piccadilly and at Manchester Airport. Rail campaigners claim it could lead to the creation of 10,000 jobs in the region. The 225mph trains will slash journey times from Manchester to London to just 68 minutes, while it will take just 74 minutes to travel between the airport and Heathrow. Read more: Manchester Evening News and BBC News

What fantastic news for the region. This rail link really will help narrow the North/South divide. Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield are the big winners here, but one must feel sorry for the people in the already economically disadvantaged North East and Scotland. Their prospects for inward investment will diminish as a result of not being included in this HS2 expansion. Tameside Citizen

£33 billion as a baseline, in reality it will be many times that. The so called economic benefits have already been called into serious question. As for the devastating effects on our beautiful countryside, which is already under massive presssure from immigration and chronic overpopulation, it doesn't bear thinking about. HS2 is sheer economic insanity and many people in the rail lobby agree that the money should be spent on the existing network, instead of what in reality is the EU businessman's express.
The money should be spent on widening our intercity road network, that would benefit 80% of the population as opposed to relatively miniscule percentage who use the train.
The reality is there's a long way to go before this destructive monstrosity even gets started. The enormous volume of complex objections and consequent extreme costs and ensuing time delays will play their part in hindering and maybe eventually stopping this lunacy.

Infrastructure for Britain or foreign aid for the world? said...

Scrap the foreign aid budget for three years and the money saved would pay for this project with change to spare.

Research has indicated that commuters will travel two hours to get to work. That is the fact to bear in mind. people who work in London can live further away from the capital and still work there.

Alteratively the jobs can move but the (senior) workers do not need to.

When the BBC moved to Salford many broadcasters left their jobs rather than move "Oop t'north"

It will be a big boost for businessmen and not being a believer in the trickle-down theory I imagine most of it's benefits will not pass onto working and lower middle class people like most of the people in Tameside.

What this amounts to is a big waste of government funds during a time of austerity, shorter and comfier journeys for businessmen in an age of conference calls, e-mails and fedexing documents to be signed.

I used several trains on sunday to get to Merseyside and I will say that the speed of the trains was not the problem, more the frequency of the trains, the complexity of the network, the multitude of train companies running lines all over the place and the confusing information available on the internet.

Nationalise the buggers or fully privatise them (no government handouts and no contracts offering bits of the network piecemeal to companies with their fingers in many pies) and if they can manage it, bring back steam and carriages with compartments in them, and a proper refreshment trolley.

There are four realistic solutions to overpopulation. Pestilence, war and famine go back to the Book of Revelation. The fourth is an enforced, systematic campaign of extermination or sterilisation of criminals, scum, evil people and the chronically defective.

The bloomin cheek of these racists. How dare they complain about their homeland being colonised by the third world.

And there you have it - thank Labour! said...

I, too, have decided to leave my area, following in the footsteps of so many of my neighbours. I don’t really want to go. I worked long and hard to get to London, to find a good job and buy a home and I’d like to stay here. But I’m a stranger on these streets and all the “good” areas, with safe streets, nice housing and pleasant cafés, are beyond my reach. I see London turning into a place almost exclusively for poor immigrants and the very rich.

It’s sad that I am moving not for a positive reason, but to escape something. I wonder whether I’ll tell the truth, if I’m asked. I can’t pretend that I’m worried about local schools, so perhaps I’ll say it’s for the chance of a conversation over the garden fence. But really I no longer need an excuse: mass immigration is making reluctant racists of us all.

Hedgehogs Disappearing said...

UK hedgehogs are becoming the latest victims of the nation's insane desire to send its human population levels through the ceiling. Research suggests a decline in numbers of a third in just ten years.

"Warwick said that the loss of hedgehogs mattered. 'The hedgehog is the most important creature on the planet, because you can get nose to nose with it. With a hedgehog you can get really close, and make a connection. It is an animal with so many delightful stories, and people can make an attachment to it, and risk falling in love'."

'reluctant racists' article.... I've never read such lilly livered drivel. We're watching as our country is being sytematically colonised and the most such do-gooders can offer is apologetic exercices in ultra pc soul searching and head scratcing. Of course, the author expresses her disenchantment at getting the cold shoulder treatment from walking pillar boxes and the lack of parsnips for sale. Perhaps being passed around by the local jihadi rape outfit might just jolt her into boudica mode, though I very much doubt it.

What a total non-story by a holier than thou publicity hound. This Poe faced freak is the absolute epitome of the ‘causing offence’ PC mob. Similar depraved nutters make every kind of excuse imaginable to cover up heinous crimes when our daughters are groomed and raped by organised immigrant gangs.

Autumn DePoe-Hughes said posters around the centre showing white models posing in male war head-dress are ‘the same as someone blacking up’.

Ms DePoe-Hughes, 37, said she was offended by the images – as well as an advertisement for a ‘beauty pow-wow’.

She said: “I know there aren’t many Native Americans around in Manchester so people might not realise why it is offensive, but because of that I feel I have to speak up.

@ Anonymous 22:23, absolutely spot on comment, she saw and knew ALL the signs years ago and like the rest of the waffling intellectuals and liberals DELIBERATELY turned a blind eye.
Many of these aliens, despite their flaws, ignorance and innate backwardness have kept their cultures grounded in the basics of survival and reality. The west has been undermined by highly destructive 'moral' idealogies like: purposeless intellectualism; liberalism; feminism and general oversensitivity.

@ Self righteous...instead of taking offence she should Sioux. How! Simple, see a solicitor.

80 years ago today the last hope of western civilization was elected as chancellor. The forces of internationalism and freemasonry crushed the dream within a mere twelve years. Everything we now suffer is as a direct result of that catastrophic defeat, not only did we sacrifice our empire to bring about that defeat, our elite entered into a faustian pact and everything we now suffer is as a result of their folly.

Raise a glass to the Fuhrer and dream of what might have been.

The fate of the native Americans is a warning to any indigenous population faced with mass immigration and who succumb to the enemy's "Divide and rule" policy. The US Army employed Indian Scouts against "hostiles" in most of their campaigns.
The UK Government use the EHRC, political correct policing, media distortion, etc. All mostly run by our "own people"

In the recent U.S. elections 95% of Blacks voted Obama. Only 59% of Whites voted Romney. If there are any accusations of 'racist' voting it's obvious at which section of society they should be directed.

There's nothing wrong with blacks voting for their own ethnic interest group, it's whites who need to wake up.
