Grave news from Buzzard Woods (update 08/07/12)

The buzzard in the video above, a bird which I have known since it was little more than an egg is seriously injured. If you watch the short video* you will see it hopping on one leg as its other leg appears to be paralysed.

For a bird of prey such as a buzzard which uses its talons to catch food this is a catastrophic injury. If it cannot catch its own food it will die of starvation. It will also have trouble sleeping as it will not be able to perch from branches properly with only one working foot.

I estimate this bird is about fourteen months old and I know for a fact it has never left the patch from where it hatched. It does disappear for a few days every month, usually following an attack by one of the older buzzards who are almost certainly its parents, but guaranteed it always comes back to this particular spot.

It has been carrying this injury for two days now without any sign of improvement. Yesterday it would not eat any of the mince I left for it and today it only ate a small amount. Prior to the injury it would eat mince for between nine and eleven minutes.

I am in a dilemma as to what to do for the best. Catching it to take to a vet would be difficult as it will not come close since it become injured. Doing nothing is not option because it will starve to death. It already appears to be visibly thinner than usual so in the short term I will keep leaving it minced meat in the hope it will regain its appetite but in the longer term with regards to its injury I don't know what to do. I might contact Sean Wood who writes for the Advertiser as he appears to know a lot about birds, does anyone else have any suggestions?

The video above is the latest footage of the injured buzzard. Sadly it appears to be getting worse and not better.

I have looked at footage of the affected foot on a large screen and there is a talon completely missing. Buzzards only have four talons, one at the back of its foot and three at the front. It is the front right talon which is missing. I have read varying reports as to whether or not missing talons grow back but regardless of if they do or they don’t the situation is still dire as infection is a real possibility.

It is good to see that it is still eating, and as long as food is made easily available and no serious infections come about as a result of the injury, in the short term it may well survive. However, if the missing talon does not grow back, hunting will be far more difficult and during lean times the missing talon may seal its fate.

You notice the difference in the advertiser reports, the one on the internet and the paper.
West was not convicted for harassing the Labour councillor.

Update on the internet report on the West case.
After a complaint was made to the Advertiser, the internet report has now been changed.
They were repoting that West had been convicted at Oldham Magistrates for harassing the Labour councillor.

The West picture in the advertiser, under which, says Harrassment. He was not convicted for that offence.

The picture they have used of Roy West is just pure evil. In reality he looks nothing like that. The gutter press seem to enjoy de-humanizing certain people.

I spoke to Kate Weir today about her report on me in the paper.
Pointing out to her that I'd not been convicted for harassment so why put harassment under my picture in the paper?. She replied "It's just a word"
I told her that she was trying to mislead readers into thinking I had been found guilty of the offence I was charged with.

The caption beneath the photo of West in the Advertiser using the word HARASSMENT in bold looks like a definite case of libel to me. It's clearly intended to imply he was in fact guilty of the offence despite being acquitted.

Your best bet would be to shoot it with a tranquiliser dart and after it falls from the tree take it to the RSPB for treatment. This is how they deal with capturing rhinoceros and other creatures which are difficult to capture.

It could well have been attacked by other buzzards or even some other predator. It won't live long if that injury's as bad as it looks.

The Advertiser staff are staunch Labourites and continually expose their total lack of objective impartiality.
Who is the TMBC puppet master controlling the Advertiser.
Some time ago a Guardian labourite employee was given a job in TMBC.
So if you want media murk the Advertiser get the gold award.

No, their coverage of the BNP is always a model of journalistic integrity.

Just accept they're corrupt, bought and paid for, low quality human rubbish.

Bob said...

I think you are being a little too generous there. They know very well that West is no longer connected to the BNP and that the BNP no longer exists as a functioning entity. The headline "Ex-BNPcandidate" looks all the more ridiculous when surely even though know the BNP is sunk.

Sound advice Wildlife Expert.

A note of caution though: When I last had an injured rhinoceros in a tree in my back garden, I followed the RSPB advice and managed to hit it with one of the spare tranquilliser darts I had lying about.

It fell out of the tree, bounced off the kid's trampoline and made a right mess of next door's conservatory.

Be warned TC!

Those not particularly found or West, will see this to be constant persecution.
When is going to be put to an end? when something really bad happens? There seems to be a real lust to make something bad happen here. I mean, you don't get all this for rapists and violent thugs.
Whats going on here guys?

Either they are ignorant of simmering resentment of all politicians or they think that their freemason masters will bail them out if there is ever a sizeable public backlash against the corrupt state and all of it's arms.

I don't know, what is going on here Roy?

What is the law when someone's CCTV is filming a neighbours drive way?

SerpentSlayer said...

I'm not sure anything can be done for the bird TC. You could leave food for it or put an end to it's suffering, with an air rifle or similar.

Don't forget when you MAKE your report about the West 'injunction'
case today, that the Judge said, that his time HAD been wasted having to read through comments on this blog.
And his comments "what ever happend to FREE SPEECH"

What Can we do About a Neighbour's CCTV Camera? said...

I was wondering what action I can take with regards to a neighbour who has just recently moved a CCTV camera into his bedroom and is pointing it directly at our front door and two bathroom windows.

Tameside Citizen said...

LTN, please re-post the deleted comment minus the expletives.

Please tell me more about box and string technique as I am unaware of it. It could come in handy should the situation deteriorate.

Dear Mr West,

That sounds like a gross violation of privacy. If it is pointing into your bathroom you surely would have legitimate grounds to complain?

Why send our soldiers to Afghanistan, when the pestilent enemy is already taking root and multiplying on our soil?

SerpentSlayer said...

They are sent to serve the goals of greedy men and women, the same men and women who want to destroy Britain and every other country in Europe.

They want to prepare the way for a world where there is no opposition to international finance and slavery to it's machinery.

They want a world of slaves where money, people and natural resources are manipulated to keep a small group of people in luxury.

Destroying this once proud nation is but one of the many obstacles, the Taliban being a much smaller one and the former Iraqi regime being a greater one at the time.

Of course the even greater obstacle to a world tyranny under the Rothschild's and their agents is the state between Iraq and Afghanistan, Iran, who pose a significant threat to the Rothschild's private fiefdom, Israel.

If you want to know how this links with local matters, the local Labour council has a great deal of members who have sworn allegiance to this Rothschild owned pirate state, Roy West's persecutor, John Taylor being one such supporter.

Just got my Advertiser,BNP man does not come out looking good and that photo is terrible he looks evil.
I think Taylor wrote it and provided them with the photo,he does come across as the victim in this case, and West as the evil BNP man.

Depends on your brain Anonymous, and the ability to see past the gutter reporting.

Anonymous most people are not as stupid as you. West is well known in the area. People know that he does not look like that in reality. When people see him in the street posting his leaflets and so on, they're going to see that picture in the paper are they?
You can't fool people with a picture like that when West is so well known and seen in the community, you ding bat.
That picture will baccfire on the advertiser.

Interesting story in the Guardian today about the teminal decline of democracy in Britain. There is no better example than the Tameside political scene as to why people are shunning the democratic process. To most people tt is a corrupt closed shop that's why so few people participate in the democratic process in this borough.

We need a revolution!

put food under a box propped up with a stick with a sring on it and when the bird gos to get the food pull the sting and the bird is caught in the box ? I use to love it as a kid

Tameside Citizen said...

Thanks for the info LTN, that is a good idea, however this is a large bird with a four foot wingspan. The box would have to be very large and this bird literally has the eyes of a hawk and it would probably stay well away from a large box. I was thinking of hanging a football net in the tree above and attaching it to string and then backing off and when the bird was eating food under the net, cut the string which would allow the net to fall on top and prevent it flying away without damaging its wings.

I will update the video later with better footage from today. It is eating, but its foot is in a bad way and seems to be getting worse. I need to get it to a vet urgently. Would you be interested in helping me catch it?
