Fox and badger eating together

This fox has a lot of courage to get so close to the badger as it is eating. They both appear to share a mutual respect for each other, as I often observe them waiting to take turns when it comes to eating food I leave out, but on this occasion they seem happy to eat side by side.

Foxes are considered vermin by many farmers who fear they might lose valuable livestock. A key reason for dislike of the fox by farmers is their tendency to commit acts of surplus killing towards animals such as chickens, yet the fox then eats only one of them.

Foxes can spread more diseases than rats, yet the anti-hunting mafia speak of foxes as if they are harmless domesticated pets, whereas the reality is that foxes are a massive pest to farmers.

Foxes are vermin and badgers spread TB in cattle. Someone quoted on a previous post about the increase in the badger population in the last thirty years and its correlation with the increase in bovine TB. The 'antis' aren't bothered about massive numbers of cattle suffering a lingering death but are concerned about the necessary culling of badgers.

Do not believe the pro-hunting propaganda lie machine said...

I feel it is extremely important to get to the truth about the myth that foxes kill out of spite, or for fun. No doubt this story will cause a lot of discussion, and this so called 'fact' about foxes will be spread around, possibly leading to further persecution, and, heaven forbid, a repeal of the fox hunting ban.

So I say now is the time to educate people.

This particularly ugly and harmful myth has already raised its head on this blog many times:

"My uncle lives in Yorkshire and raises chicken. He tells me that a fox will break into the chicken pen, kill one chicken for food and then slaughter all the rest out of sheer spite."

and

"Without getting into the rights and wrongs of fox-hunting, the reason that rural people started population control in the first place was to manage a species that will kill not just enough chickens than is necessary to feed themselves, but the rest of the coop as well."

This is a pernicious rumour which is spread by the ignorant.

Evolution does not create animals that kill for spite. Rather, when a fox finds a source of plentiful food (such as a chicken coup) they will kill with a view to CACHING the food. This is a very successful survival strategy. It ensures that the fox, and other animals that share this strategy, will have enough food should the hunting for food become tough and their supply become less readily available. They will make several trips, to and fro, carrying their pray to a point where they will store food for later.

If it looks like the fox has abandoned the carcasses, seemingly uninterested in them, it HASN'T. it has simply been disturbed before it could finish caching.

Now, I know that it must be extremely upseting to find a coup of chickens or ducks slaughtered, but please do remember, the fox is not doing it out of spite. It is doing it to survive. Nothing more.

Do not believe the pro-hunting propaganda, who cares about the fox's motive. The chickens are still dead and the chicken farmer out of pocket.

Hang on, whilst you were out posting leaflets which nobody wants through strangers doors, pausing only to post up clips of old ladies who dare to try and return them on YouTube, someone else DARES to do the same to you?

The thoughts of the badger brotherhood are with you at this difficult time Roy.

It points folk to this blog page http://liarsbuggersandthieves.blogspot.com/search/label/Labour

While Labour/Searchlight focus on the bnp, they neglect to tell people about the rapists, child molesters, and so on in the Labour party.

•THE ONCE GREAT BRITAIN! NOW SINKING IN A FOREIGN CRIME WAVE!
•Foreign gangs and 30,000 criminals rob 'soft touch' Britain of £40billion a year.
•You can't deport 3,000 foreign criminals, EU tells Britain.
•Foreign murderers, rapists and other criminals are being offered cash bribes of up to £1,500 to return home after serving their sentences.
•British taxpayers are being forced to pay £3million to teach criminals in Jamaica to play cricket.
•Astonishingly, the £3million comes on top of a further £43million a year from public funds for keeping about 1,000 Jamaican-born convicts in British jails.
•A kidnap a day by foreign gangs in London.

A rare by-election outing for Mr. Griffin's insolvent fascists saw them decisively rejected by working-class English voters yet again. There's no way back for the toxic BNP; the knackers' yard awaits.

The local Trotskyists of the "Socialist Alternative" will no doubt have enjoyed out-polling the bonehead candidate.

However, neither the Warwickshire Trotskyist vanguard nor the Midlands' fascist spearhead were a match for Mr. Miliband's resurgent People's Party. The red flag of democratic socialism clearly carried the day; Coventry Labour activists will have been delighted with over 50% of the votes cast.

Lower Stoke Ward, Coventry

Catherine Miks (Lab) 1,366 (54%)
Jaswant Singh Birdi (Con) 563(22%)
Robert McArdle (Soc Alt) 254 (10%)
Keith Oxford (BNP) 149 5.9%
Laura Vesty (Green) 114 4.5%
Mark Widdop (Lib Dem) 79 3.1%

BNP Meltdown, re the Lower Stoke Ward result, you forgot to mention the abysmal 18% turnout, a shocking indictment of modern British democracy. 90% of the electorate of the ward didn't vote Labour. A result that demonstrates how far Red Ed is from even beginning to make a dent in the coalition, despite the massive advantage of being in oppositon in such dire economic circumstances.
Callaghan, Foot, Kinnock, Gordon Brown, and now that nasal voiced Marxist dork who looks even more of a loser. Without Blair labour as a Party would have ceased to exist.

Fire on the horizon said...

BNP Meltdown, no doubt you'd like to laud Mr Jahan, as would every reasonable person, for his extremely courageous and noble behaviour after the death of his son. The entire liberal establishment and media seized and focussed on him as an exemplar of British Islam and ethnic minorities in general. They singularly neglected however to apply a similar focus to the massively disproportionate amount of Afro-Caribbeans involved in the rioting.

F**k Hitler and F**k Marx said...

The media totally blanked the truth about the riots. The immigration population explosion pressure cooker will keep simmering, but as the heat's turned up over the next few years and the establishment keeps ignoring it the pressure will rise and rise...

Turn-out shite again said...

1300 traitors, morons, cranks, OAPs etc voted Labour in the Lower Stoke Ward by-election. There are nearly 14000 people on the electoral roll in that ward. There'll be a fairly big local Labour group, activists, local government workers etc. Add on the other councillors, their families, friends and all the rest closely linked to the local Labour group who can be relied upon to turn out. That must come to several hundred people which probably means less than a thousand out of 14000 turned out to vote for the 'winners'. The two real and overwhelming victors however, as is increasingly the case in modern Britain, were apathy and ignorance.

Anonymous said...

Turn-out shite again you'll confuse bnp meltdown with that reality. Why would you expect red hair, blue hair, to understand?

SerpentSlayer said...

Hitler wouldn't have allowed the riots to happen. Millions of Britains died to protect the elite who started the mass immigration of 1948.

If the people of Ashton-under-Lyne had voted for Mr.Mosley, Britain would have kept out of the whole thing, sons and husbands would have remained with their families and the good people of this part of Lancashire wouldn't have to worry about corrupt Marxists in their council.
