Britain’s shortest cycle lane?

This incredible 172 inch (14ft 4 inch) cycle lane that had been recently painted on Whitelands Road Ashton. Is this an attempt by Tameside Council to break TREBLE Guinness world records: For stupidity, waste AND the world's shortest cycle lane?

Who said they were in financial crisis? They've obviously got loads of spare cash.

It does seem like a waste of money but maybe they will extend it when the Metrolink is finished.

Is that a joke?
You can't cycle on it without riding on the pavement first, which is an offence. It's a cycle island not a lane as there's no legal way to get to it.
Utterly pathetic and symptomatic of TMBC's fundamental incompetence.

Bloody pathetic! No cyclist will ever use it and one blind person every 60 years will use the special kerb beyond. The people running Tameside (and Britain) are literally mad.
