In a fascinating development following a letter published in last weeks edition of the Tameside Advertiser where a Mr Hall from Denton made readers aware that the MP for Denton and Reddish - Andrew Gwynne was also chair of the shadowy Labour Friends of Israel lobby group. Now the MP in question responds and makes it absolutely clear that he is not the chair of the LFI.
Readers who are not aware of the reason for the choice words used by Andrew Gwynne MP may well think Mr Hall was talking nonsense and got his facts wrong. However those who have been paying close attention to the ‘extra curricular’ activities of the MP for Denton and Reddish know that Mr Gwynne certainly was the chair of the LFI until very recently. In fact Wikipedia who are always quick off the mark in relation to changes still have Andrew Gwynne listed as the current chair of LFI. Mr Gwynne is also listed as chair on the LFI website (click image below). So has Mr Gwynne recently stepped down as LFI chair or is there some other bizarre reason for making a public denial?

LFI, or for that matter Conservative Friends of Israel, is not a 'shadowy lobby group'. Zionism is not some retarded, quasi-Fascist ideology seeking to marginalise Arabs; it is an important way of ensuring that Israel gets a fair hearing among policy makers, just as Palestine groups should.

Few people know and even fewer care that Labour, Conservative and the Liberal Democrats parties all have a ‘Friends of Israel’ group of MP’s. These combined groups of scores of MP’s from across the party divide always vote in unison when it comes to Middle Eastern affairs, even when it is against the national interest. No better illustration of this can be shown than if you study the voting patterns of MP’s who voted in favour of the illegal war of aggression against Iraq. If it is was not for the enormous influence of the various parliamentary Lib/Lab/Con Friends of Israel groups the pro-Israeli warmongers would not have been able to secure a mandate to launch their illegal war.

As Andrew Gwynne WAS the chair of LFI until very recently, it would have been more honest of him to say, "I am no longer the chair of Labour Friends of Israel."

This discussion has taken a very sinister turn. There are however some powerfully made points about the setting up of Israel and the issue regarding the occupied territories. Israel was set up because six million Jews were mercilessly rounded up, beaten, starved and killed by the Nazis. Britain therefore facilitated an Israeli Jewish state within its Palestinian Mandate in order to ensure that the most oppressed people in world history can enjoy the relative safety of a homeland, their homeland. Is that unfair?
I would urge my fellow commenters on this blog to show some empathy.
On a further point, the reason the UK, US et al haven't forcibly enforced various UN resolutions is because of something in international relations called realpolitik. in other words Israel poses not threat to our national security, is a functioning democracy in a troubled despotic region, and is willing to enter into peace negotiations with the Palestinians. In contrast to Saddam, we can see signs for a peaceful and diplomatic resolution to this issue.
Of course, there is a long way to go before the issue of Israel/Palestine is sorted but this witchhunt towards Jews on this blog is neither helpful nor constructive. Rather, it appeals to that most basest of human instincts - racism. It was precisely because of ludicrous suggestions of a world Jewish cxonspiracy and financial/political domination that allowed extremists like Stalin and Hiter to justify their carrying out of some of the most shameful acts of human history.

'Open your eyes Tom', have you read the Balfour Declaration? Like our friend Gwynne's letter, it was written in a way that allowed for a lot of wriggle room in the event of either side taking offence.

It is pleasing to see that Tom Hatton takes a serious interest in such matters. People should not criticise Tom’s lack of historical knowledge on these matters as he is a product of the current educational system.
I currently have a child in education and the level of indoctrination directed towards children is truly unbelievable. I do not have time to go into the finer details at present but a young person cannot be blamed for repeating what they are taught at school.
When I discussed the lack of real history taught at school the teacher explained that her hands were bound in so much as if they deviate from what the government dictates the children will suffer as they will fail exams due to not learning what the national curriculum requires them to know.
It is a case of ‘He who pays the piper calls the tune’. The government dictates what children must be taught so let’s not be too harsh on a young man who is willing to debate in the open arena of the blogesphere.
I fear the real story is being hidden here. As our deliberations are unlikely to make membership of the LFI illegal, we should concentrate on why one of our elected MPs has chosen to slap-down a member of the public when it appears Mr Hall's claims were indeed correct.

I've read 6 of the 10 books you listed; I would especially recommend: The Power Of Israel In The United States by James Petras, who, by the way, is a frequent columnist for the Guardian newspaper and a tenured professor at Columbia University. Well worth a read.
Tom, if Israel's nuclear weapons are not illegal why, out of the three countries which refused to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty: Pakistan, India and Israel, are Israel the only ones who won't confirm or deny having them? No wonder Iran want them, their attitude must be: If Israel can, why can't we? The US, as usual will back Israel no matter what and surrounded by hostile Islamic dictatorships you can see why they want nuclear weapons. But that in no way alters the massively disproportionate amount of influence Jews/Zionists have in the mass media, film industry, the internet, TV and nespapers.

His definition of ‘bigots and racists’ means one thing; white people who express an opinion contrary to the current political doctrine which always portrays immigrants and mass immigration in a positive light. He will believe only white people can be ‘racist’ but if you ask him to define the meaning of the word he will stumble about giving random pre-programmed answers about hate and intolerance.
He claims to be a ‘Labour man’, but the chances are he as far removed from the founding principles of the labour movement as is politically possible. Try and explain to him that the labour movement was formed to stop worker exploitation and he will nod in agreement. Then explain the mass immigration which he believes in is being used a tool to suppress the rights of the indigenous worker and he will retort “that’s racist”.
Ask him if it is right that mass immigration, Islamification and multiculturalism was forced upon the British people without ever once asking us if we approved and he will give you a blank look before turning around and walking off grumbling about intolerance.
These type of hypocrites are so so predictable.
We should all congratulate and appreciate this site for allowing and standing by our "very last stance" on being able to show our democratic freedom to speak, which thousands of decent men women and children have given their young lives for in recent Wars.

The British people are among the most tolerant on earth but that tolerance is being abused by a political elite that seems to regard ordinary citizens as the enemy within. One incident last week highlighted the tightening grip of a fashionable ideology that treats our national identity with contempt. in the once tranquil, quintessentially english town of st Neots in Cambridge- shire, two young mothers, emma Knightly and Kimberley Williams, tried to join a crèche where their toddlers could be looked after. to their astonishment they were told their British nationality barred them from becoming members since the publicly funded centre caters only for foreigners.
This is an outrageous policy, promoting discrimination against people who have been born here. this is all too typical of what is happening across Britain. the malign forces of multiculturalism and mass immigration are being used by the state to transform society and to denigrate our heritage. every culture has to be revered except our own. in many towns Britons now feel like aliens in their own land.

Lady Warsi’s accusations against British people could hardly be more hollow. if Britain really is so prejudiced how come she holds high office and has been given a seat in the house of Lords? the truth is that in the face of severe provocation the public has shown the most remarkable restraint towards Muslims but we cannot deny the reality in front of our eyes.
What she calls “islamophobia” is a perfectly rational concern about the behaviour of a significant section of the
Muslim population here, which due to the collapse of our borders is now three million strong and growing.
When she complains about “isolation” she does not acknowledge that far too many Muslims have refused to integrate into our society. instead, they have pursued an aggressively separatist agenda, refusing to show respect for such traditional British customs as freedom of speech, while constantly demanding special treatment for their culture whether it be the acceptance of sharia law or sale of halal meat. it is a reflection of how craven our society has become that even in some mainstream schools and shops, the only meat served is halal, even though many of us are revolted by ritual slaughter.

Aspects of that pattern are happening here already. the vicar’s wife said she recently asked a Muslim, newly arrived from Belgium, why he had moved here and was told: “everybody knows Birmingham best place to be a pure Muslim.”
Those words make a nonsense of Lady Warsi’s moans about bigotry. the British public has every right to feel worried.

Getting back to the original topic it appears Gwynne has been caught banged to rights telling lies. His announcement where he stated he was not chair of the LFI was printed in the Advertiser two weeks ago however the screengrab of the LFI website used by TC clearly shows he was still the chairman as of 27th Feb. I hope Mr Hall writes another letter highlighting this anomaly as well as asking for clarification as to the exact date Gwynne stepped down, if he has at all. I am sure readers, especially our Muslim brothers would still be interested to know if Mr Gwynne is still a LFI member even though he may no longer be chair.

I have assured Mr.Gwynne this past week that my files of substantiated files are available to him should his memory lapse relating to his past activities.
During past years I have challenged Tameside Councillors and Officials and MP`to hold an open Public Forum debate without creating restrictions where I could openly challenge circumstances which I had found, and which concerned me.
No responses to that offer were ever received and that included Mr JT and Mp`s Purnell /Reynolds/Gwynne.

Re the air pollution/traffic congestion, I believe the census is due this year and it will be interesting to see how much Tameside's population has increased, as the amount of residential development on (mostly large) brownfield/former industrial sites is phenomenal.
As a professional driver for 25 years I can assure you a lot of this congestion is deliberately manufactured as part of the in-built socialist hatred of the private motor car and a crackpot desire to force people onto non-existent public transport. The insanity of the Metrolink, which can only ever possibly transport a miniscule fraction of the moving public, whilst already causing serious and worsening congestion, shows their priorities lie with their own lunatic and destructive agendas, not solving problems and improving society and the public's lot.

'Massive TUC demo in Manchester', a few hundred turned up and they managed 5000 in London's 'mega' demo. In Manchester, Aaron Porter, leader of the student's union was shouted down as 'Tory Jew scum' when he tried to speak and had to be escorted away by the police. The unions (i.e public sector unions) and all these leftie dickheads and immigrant groups combined have got virtually zero backing from the British people, and are simply another of the loud mouthed anti-democratic (and antiTory) minority groups that currently plague our nation.
Yeah all those people in the private sector whose wages, working conditions, pensions and savings have been decimated in the last few years will be queueing up round the block to support the featherbedded public sector won't they. The millions of overpaid parasites in this sector of the economy (25% of useful people aside) should be force fed the same bitter fruit the rest of us have already been eating for the last three years.

Tamesider, I am in 100% agreeance with you about manufactured congestion. Have you been up Chapel Street in Salford recently near Salford University? What was a six lane free flowing dual-carriageway has been reduced to a complete bottleneck with deviously placed bus lanes and huge protruding pavements which have had the net effect of halving road space. This must make the daily commute in and out of Manchester living hell for the hapless motorist who has no other alternative than to drive to work.
I disagree with you about the Metrolink. Light and heavy rail is definitely the way forward when it comes to the mass movement of people and goods.
You'd be right but it is not and never can be 'mass' movement. There's also the question of it's utter inflexibility, even compared to the far more useful and adaptable double decker bus.
One difference: double decker bus maximum speed 56mph maximum number of passengers 75 compare that to a train with a maximum speed in excess of 180mph and a capacity of 600 passengers.
A modern double decker does about 13 mpg, a train uses massive amounts of diesel and electricity and the vast majority of the time is either empty, or carrying a few tens of people or less. The bus also requires no extra infrastructure apart from bus stations, metal poles etc and can go virtually anywhere the private car can.
180 mph and 600 people is the rail worshipper's utopia that exists in reality in Britain only on high speed main lines, that are phenomenally expensive to build and maintain and account for a tiny fraction of overall train mileage.
Trams cause congestion (Manchester has the slowest peak time traffic speeds of any European city) and thereby extra pollution. The fact is, a 50% increase in all rail usage - a total impossibility as they are already operating at extremely high capacity, and the investment required would be hundreds and hundreds of billions of pounds - would result in only a 4% reduction in road vehicle mileage. Whatever the solution is to the approaching gridlock, it isn't anything on rails.

You obviously are not a frequent user of trains. Answer this question honestly Britain First, when was the last time you travelled by train? I travel by bus often and they are slow and expensive. Buses do have a role in an intergrated travel system but trains and light rail is the way forawrd. If you want to see an integrated travel network in action take trip to Holland or Germany, I am sure you will be impressed.
Is that, 'because you say so' or are you going to dispute any of the facts/arguments I have put forward. "Buses are expensive", train fares, unless you book well in advance and know all the intricacies of the system are phenomenally expensive. If you want to go anywhere at short notice, or instantly, you need a car.
Network Rail costs the taxpayer billions in subsidies despite rail supposedly being privatised and 40% of the entire transport budget goes on rail, which transports approximately 6% of the moving public. Without these subsidies (a vast chunk of which are supplied by the massively taxed and milked private car owner) rail in this country would collapse.
Think you'll actaully find with not too much effort on Google that Andrew Gwynne actually stepped down last year and his successor as chairman, David Cairns MP, was announced at Labour Party Conference back in September 2010.
