Carnage on Stockport Rd, Denton

Well, maybe not carnage but certainly a nasty crash. It is interesting to see how strong modern cars are. The Peugeot with the ripped off door skins and exploded airbags hit the solid stone wall and dislodged a number of the heavy stones. In days gone by an accident like this would have probably meant fatalities but thanks to improvements in car design in today’s accident there appears to have been none.

I recently saw a crash where a Vauxhall Omega, which is a large heavy saloon, hit a brand new Honda Accord side on on the passenger side at speed. The woman passenger in the Honda got out shaken but unscathed and the car, although damaged, was not in any way 'stove in', as would have been the case a few years ago.
The severity of car occupant injuries has been significantly reduced in recent years as has the incidence of car theft because of manufacturer fitted immobilisers. The latter was as a result of the authorities' failure to get a grip on this crime in terms of capture, conviction and sufficient punishment of offenders.

Are you thinking of Norris and Ross McWhirter? Ross McWhirter was murdered back in 1975 and Norris died in 1994.
