Now you see it, now you don't. The mystery of the edited election address.

Readers of this week's Reporter will have seen the election addresses of all five candidates for the Longdendale council by-election. (Labour, Conservative, BNP, UKIP and Green).

We have learned from Mr Jones, the BNP candidate that his Election Address was edited to remove one of his points. Examination of paragraph 5 of his address (reproduced above)shows a difference from his submited address, the 5th paragraph of which stated

" I will also oppose political discrimination as evidenced in the council's contract with taxi firms and their censorship of the local press as revealed by myself two years ago and repeated in the magazine Private Eye."

The relevant page of the contract is reproduced above and the reader's attention is drawn to sections 1.2 and 1.8.

Section 1.2 is a standard non-discrimination clause. I have no problem with this, though it is odd that it does not specifically mention discrimination on racial grounds.

Section 1.8 is more problematic. It states "....it is a requirement to have a workforce that is .....compatable to respect the choices of Service Users and Carers from Black and Minority Ethnic Communites"

Why just Black and Minority Ethnic? Surely we all deserve consideration? And what does "Compatable to respect the choices" mean? Why have this paragraph at all? It would be sufficient to put "race or ethnic origin" in section 1.2 above to ensure fair treatment for all service users and carers, again something which I have no problem with.

Mr Jones has contacted the council for an explaination but has received no reply, though he has a theory.

"Section 1.2 applies only when a discriminatory act has occured, but 1.8 is designed to deal with an act which is believed to be about to happen or which could happen. In other words a taxi driver who is, or suspected to be "incompatable" will lose their contract. And what will be the main reason for not being "compatable"? That's right, membership of, support for or voting for, the BNP"

Isn't Democracy wonderful?

Not seen this man on the campaign trail yet. Does he care about us lot up here?

I know they set a maximum number of words allowed. He needs to clarify if the paper could defend its actions due to the original being over-length. If the orig was within the (200?) word limit, then game on.

Mr Jones what do you say to those BNP activists, that believe you've been a complete disaster right from the start of this election campaign? And that, your failure to contact activists willing to come out and leaflet, has lost many hours of valuble campaigning time in this election.
Don't ever try to blame the leadership for your appauling approach to this election Mr Jones.

Roy West said...

Dave Jones wants a poor result in this by-election, so that he can blame the BNP Leadership. But he has shown no interest in this election. The struggle to get the leaflets out in this election, all because this man did not want any going out.

tonydj said...

The max set was 250. The edited item was 225, the removed words totaled 6. As you say, game on.

"Complete disaster"? Explain please.I will not discuss this in a public arena. If you know me send me a private e-mail.

Hmmmm come to think of it. if you DO know me why haven't you contacted me already?

tonydj said...

There are 225 words in the address and 6 taken out. Maximum permitted are 250.

Game on!

Please explain "Complete disaster"?

Errr its not you who have been playing taxi driver for those who have no vehicle, who have printed the leaflets, who has produced the maps, bought the paper for the printing etc etc.

But hey, you can shove bits of paper through doors so you are an ACTIVIST!

Roy West said...

Dave you are a disaster. You told me in the car that you were bored with the election. No more leaflets you said.
Dave your comments at meetings are insane. Can't you remember them?

Some party's and so called activist think that spending hours on this blog is an election winner.
Its the door knocking that wins it contact with voters is a must.
Labour do it and the Tories do a little of it its selective, other do very little or nothing.
Why cant the Greens, BNP,and UKIP get enough workers into an area for a by-election.

An orgasm over an argument in a minor Party you don't even vote for. You need to get out more saddo.

Lunatic fringe said...

These thick twats in UAF etc are so obsessed with the BNP they've forgotten all about the big picture. The BNP were/are never going to amount to anything, meanwhile Cameron's going to cosy up to the EU and look after his rich mates more and more, while Labour with that Marxist freak in charge will be in the wilderness longer than Moses.
The 'fascists' and 'anti-fascists' piss around on the margins attacking each other and 99% of people couldn't care less. The weaker the REAL opposition, i.e. Labour, are the more the Tories will move things to the right.

show some respect said...

For those too ignorant to realise the truth - the BNP candidate is a sick man and you should be applauding him for standing - not attacking him because he is unable to take to the streets and leaflet. If the people doing the attacking were half as ill as your candidate you would be crying in bed. What is up with you people?

See at the meeting said...

This BNP rift is not new have you seen Mr Byrne around in this election?
West wants to run the campaigns they know hes unstable,Mr Jones is the brains and the only educated one between them.
How do they expect this man to deliver leaflets he is genuinely disabled and deserves all the help he needs,West is a benefit scrounger who deserves no help,Stay off here west having ago at David if its a choice between you and him, its him every time.

Shut the #### up said...

The BNP would not exist in Tameside if David Jones had not done all the hard work for our party, and hes been working hard for many many years unlike some people who have just come alive to the cause.
We know hes challenged the leadership don't they do that in other party's ?
Its time for West to shut up or get out he is an embarrassment, the postings on here are the last straw for me,when I got the call last night about them I was shocked and very angry, good job I waited a few hours before posting myself.

Taylor, we know you support the BNP's policies on stopping immigration, law and order and virtually everything else but would lose your seat on the gravy train if you actually stood up for what you believed in. But coming on here pretending to be a BNP member 'in the know' is fooling no-one.

Anonymous said...

Its got nothing to do with Taylor ,and it will be sorted out very soon, the last thing we need is West doing to David what we all know he does with Taylor on the blogs.

Dave Jones won't need any help from me in his mission to sink the Tameside BNP.
All it will take is, for someone to recorded him advocating those inasne suggestions. The BNP in Tameside would sink with-out trace.

Anonymous said...

Roy, go to the Police with your allegations. Do it now.

Anonymous said...

What are these suggestions Roy?

I met David Jones at one of our district assembly meeting must confess I was shocked to find out he was a BNP member.
He was a charming man and very knowledgeable, does he come from a rough family like the other BNP members.

'Dukinfield BNP', never heard of it and I live there.
Whatever Roy's faults and problems he's got more patriotism and principles in his little finger than all the Tameside Labour mafia put together have got in their entire bodies.

Anonymous said...

I agree. Roy has let himself down again by talking nonsense on public forums. He knows the procedure for making official complaints and blogs such as this are certainly not the place to hang out his parties dirty linen.

tonydj said...

40 or so posts later, can I get back to the original post?

The editing of my election address and the council's contract with
taxi firms.

What is the meaning of section 1.8?

RE LIAM>> hes always been fattish but hes gorgeous

Roy stop posting about yourself, and stop digging that big hole you are in its deep enough.

No BNP workers in Broadbottom today none in Hattersley, none in Hollingworth and none in Mottram.
A very poor show is it all over for them lets see how many votes they get.
Washing dirty linen in public would not have helped Mr West.

Of course it's West's fault, most of the ward read this blog.
