This Sunday is the anniversary of one of Europe's greatest victories! On 12th September 1683 a Polish army led by the Polish king Jan Sobieski utterly defeated a Turkish army before the gates of Vienna. Europe was saved from Islamic oppression.
On the anniversary of this great event we remember those brave Christian warriors who shall forever be an inspiration to us!
Niech żyje Polska. Cześć jej dzielnych wojowników!

A true hero. We need more like him now.
Local Tories should be ashamed, they left the Candidate and one other party member Mr Buckley all alone again while the Labour party had another car park full of members.
Not sure how many they had but a good guess would be around 35 members no car parking spaces left I live across road and see it every day
Think I will mark the anniversary with a barbeque. Ham, pork sausages, bacon rolls etc. Not to mention croissants.
Now, what do I use to kindle the fire? Some old book maybe....
He was stabbed to death five minutes later. So much for it being a religion of tolerence.
Muslims set fire to our flags, no reaction from anyone. One crank says he's going to burn some books and EVERYONE from Obama down has hysterics. Pure cowardice, treachery and double standards.
Tonyhj if the books run out use the leaflets your members refuse to deliver in Longdendale.
"12th September 1683. Victory at the gates of Vienna!"
Looks like we will need him here soon, if not now!
Seen Taylor out at weekend with Billy Bragg in Longdendale
No, they've already gone back.
Stabbed the death five minutes later?John Sobieski lived for three more years after defeating the Turks at Vienna. He died on June 17 1696,at Wilanowin Poland. And did you know that his great-grandson was Bonnie Prince Charlie? Johns grand-daughter, Clementine, married the Old Pretender,James Edward Stuart son of King James 11.
But I have to agree with the comment "Niech zyje Polska. Czesc jej dzienych wojownikow"which roughly translates as "Long live Poland. honour to her brave warriors".In my opinion, Poland's warriors were never braver,or more deserving of honour, than when they fought Hitler's hordes in the second world war.
Their sacrifice at Monte cassino was magnificent.
If we are talking anniversaries, lets not forget May 18 next year, when it will be 67 years since the 12th Podoiski Lancers raised the red and white flag over Monte Cassino having fought off the Wehrmacht paratroopers. They played a major part in the defeat of fascism,so its good to know that the people on this site want to honour them.
Taylor, your undersatnding of history is at the same level as your understanding of English grammar.
Stalin killed a lot more Poles than the fascists ever did.
Let me know what is incorrect about the above.
Maybe you can post the any mistakes I have made just to help me.
TC
Maybe we could have a discussion on Ricky Hatton?
Very busy night in Hollingworth, Taylor street area ,got invited in for a drink on Lord street.
Ex Tory voter not happy with the con-dems scrapping the school programme in Longdendale.
Canvass looking very good still not seen any Tories out working, maybe the little shower we had put them off again.
@John Charles Taylor
Glad you approve of this item. I honour all brave men who fight gallantly for a cause. But there were a couple of slips in your item...slips and not errors.
It was the Podolski Lancers and not the Podoiski.
Jan Sobieski did indeed die in 1696, 13 and not 3 years after the battle.
However, you missedout several important facts which should be remembered when considering the history of this gallant nation.
The Soviet Union invaded Eastern Poland 17 days after the Germans moved in from the West.
The Soviets murdered anythig up to 20,000 Poles at Katyn Wood but denied it, claiming it was the Germans. A lie which succesive British Governments, esp the Labour Govt of Harold Wilson, went along with.
After the Red Army, the US Army and the British Army The Poles provided the forth largest Army to fight the Germans. You must remember the 1st Corps in NW Europe, 2nd Corps under Anders in Italy mostly ex-Pow's taken by the Red Army in 1939, a pro-Soviet "people's army" and last, but certainly not least, the Home Army (A.K.) who's gallant uprising in Warsaw was shamefully not aided by the Red army.
See Tonydj agrees with my history just corrects a few minor mistakes, just a slip of the finger and a reminder that I now need Classes.
I know the Russians killed many polish people ,I don't want to get into a debate about who killed the most I was recognising the bravery of the polish Military, and correcting the statement about Johns Sobieskis death.
My understanding of history is quite good when you consider the amount of time I spent in School.
Taylor what did you learn at school? You were bottom of the class no.?
Nothing is incorrect about the facts. Linking Sobieski's victory with the Poles who fought on our side in WWII to make an anti-'fascist' point however IS, as well as being cheap and absurd.
Anyone can quote facts, understanding them is a different matter.
Going back to the tax payers alliance story it has come to my attention that the person employed by TMBC for the GMB union Yvonne Cartey(ex wife of Phillip Wilkinson Cllr for Duky/Stalybridge De-selected in 2006) has lost her job so what do the Labour party do De-select Bill Harrison in St Michaels ward Ashton and select yvonne and the gravy train keeps running.
Be very careful Labour Cllrs because you don't know when the next stop for the train will be.
Bill Harrison de-selected in St Michaels to make way for Yvonne Cartey GMB rep on Tameside. The gravy train keeps running but be carefull all you Labour Cllrs who knows were the next stop is.
Its all correct, bottom of the class no, top of the class no, but did ok ,how did you do?
13th September 2010. Victory at... well those who've suffered years of misery will know exactly where victory was ensured.
Big shock for Tories and Rod the Tesco survey, let me tell you why hes not published the results.
First of all they got a very poor response not many returned, and those that did comment wanted the store.
He was warned about doing it by us but he knows best, he then puts out a leaflet about Labour granting it at planning doing them a favour.
Its an uphill struggle but we must continue and hope one day they will listen to us.
Taylor was in the rock bottom class at school, because he could not read and write. Can't you tell?
Thought there was a problem nice clear night and no Tories out again, sickening seeing all these Labour people all over the area again.
Yvonne Cartey's selection is an interesting one. No doubt her election campaign will be based on "Tory cuts lost me my job". She was known back in the TEL days to doss around and have lunches lasting three hours long whilst she had her hair done - perks of being a wife to a Labour councillor.
What will be interesting to know is what redundancy pay Yvonne will be taking? No doubt it will be a good'un. Then (maybe) soon to be a Labour councillor! A very sordid deal indeed.
Yvonne is a hypocrit of the highest order. Herself and her cronies allowed the privatisation of care services in Tameside, yet now she has the cheek to fight cuts under the guise of being a paid trade union rep on the rates.
Get that Tesco built. There are Poles and Slovaks queueing up to work their guts out for peanuts.
Peanuts by our standards but when converted to Zloty and Euro and sent home it is a lot of money. It is the British worker who is being mugged off by internationalist immigration supporters.
Massive revelations uncovered by Tameside BNP regarding criminal activities of past and present Tameside Labour councillors.
1st installment.
Former Tameside Labour councillor Craig Brodie was convicted in 1996 for armed robbery. He was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment.
You won't believe the next one.
A certain gentleman from Dukinfield will be exposed in the 2nd installment.
