An accident waiting to happen in Denton - could someone please inform the council?

If you watch the short video clip you will see a dangerous hidden danger on the fields just off Stockport Road in Denton. The satellite maps (click to enlarge) show you exactly how to find it from the lay-by at the end of the Hulmes Wood path where it joins Stockport Road.

If you park the car in the lay-by, cross over towards the water treatment works, carry on up the hill passing the retirement home for the elderly and then turn into the woods at the end of the of the retirement home via the wooden step. Then follow the path over the brook, across the grazing land as if heading towards Reddish Vale and then look to the right when nearing the point where the path thins and you should see this hole.

The scum who have stolen the cover were probably trophy hunters because there are other cast iron covers of a similar size in the area which are very ornate and inscribed with the legend ‘Denton Town Council’.

Would someone please volunteer to pass this information on to the council as I am leaving for a few days later this evening and communication will be difficult?

The hole is about a meter in depth but you could easily break a leg or worse if you walked or cycled into it, and I would hate to think what would happen if a horse and rider galloped towards it. At night time it would be impossible to see and if it is left in this dangerous condition it is only a matter of time until someone falls into it.

Of course it invites speculation...that is the whole point of Mr West's campaign of thinly veiled false angst. But anyone with two brain cells can see that, in the case of Mr. West and in the most apt words of the bard,...he "doth protest too much, methinks."

I have made no comparisons (non-entity/paragon or otherwise, you sure you got those in the correct context?) I can't see how that can be concluded from my posting.

Of course anyone can say anything (I assume you mean accusatory)about Mr Taylor and your perfectly correct to say "it's simply not worth the trouble to deny them".

If Mr Taylor were to dance to the fiddle of every fool who make accusations however unfounded then he would be dancing on a never ending treadmill.

Just what has Mr. West contributed to the community of Dukinfield, I would genuinely be interested to know.

As for your opening statement..."You either no nothing" I'm speculating you meant to say "know" as in knowledge.

Yes, a little knowledge can be a very dangerous thing.

Thanks, he is called Pericles. We gave him that name because we were working on a project related to The Parthenon when he was born. It seemed like a good idea at the time to name him after the great Pericles, but when out walking, other dogs constantly took the mickey out of his name so we altered to Cleese and now he is a happy hound.
