He's a New Tory remember that, Tom is.

It seems two people have voted YES to the TC Poll;
"Can the Tories make serious progress in Tameside under the leadership of John Bell?"

I wonder who those two people are.....let me think.....hmmmmm?

The majority of us dont agree.

I'll have the last laugh...

Tom Hatton said...

Of course, TC, but I can substantiate my statement with proof :) And, anonymous - I'm not a new tory member at all. Just new to the Tameside blogosphere.

Two quotes from Tom Hatton
"yet more pond life in Tameside" ...this blog

" Thatcher turned the North from a state-dependent, inefficient industrial area into a shining beacon of redevelopment. And, I mean that; Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, York and Newcastle are all world-class cities; centres of business and culture."....his blog.

He also approves of how Thatcher and her boot-boys treated the miners.

Who's the pond life?

tonydj said...

TC, why only two choices in your poll, "yes" and "no"?

There should be a 3rd choice.."No ****** chance!!"

Tom Hatton said...

Tonydj - I didn't think anybody read my blog!

Anyway, back to the point: everyone's got sob stories about the miners and their antics. THEY stood in the way of necessary economic change (Britain would have an economy like the Eastern Bloc if Thatcher's reforms weren't put into place); THEY took part in illegal strikes; AND THEY victimised their own communities when brave miners decided to go and work to feed their families. The scabs - remember?

I understand that I'm 17 and haven't have first-hand experience of Thatcher's Britain, but, putting emotion aside, Thatcher's economic revolution was a resounding success and it was only Brown's financial mismanagement of the last decade that brought it to a halt.

The North owes a lot to Thatcher.

Were you around during Thatcher's time?

Very good speech.

Tom's balls have not dropped yet leave him alone.

Tom Hatton said...

Wet Tory - that achieved?

A response, never responed to abuse on here.

Roger Smythe said...

Mr Hatton, I applaud a young man like you getting involved in democratic politics but your cocksureness and abuse comes across badly compared to when you engage in sensible political debate.
As Oscar Wilde said, 'I am not young enough to know everything'.

Andrew Brons is a highly intelligent man and a real asset to Brish nationalism. His speech was fascinating and kept an audience from across the social spectrum enthralled. An extremely well attended and successful evening.

Please put the rest of the video of Andrew speaking online and please include the Q&A session at the end. (Sandra)xxx

John Bell will have to take a good look at himself now. He must remember something very important. The non-elected party members who take many many hours of their spare time to post out leaflets, canvass etc do NOT work For the Councillors, they work for the future of the party and they do this complately voluntarily. If he would prefer for those people to resign as a result of his attitude and bully boy tactics then good luck to him and the rest of them. He has behaved terribly. Maybe now would be the right time for him to apologise or at least be civil, thats providing his ego doesn't get in the way.

David Cameron has challenged Brown to take part in a prime time televised debate to engage the electorate and restore faith in Politics. Look at the link.

I wonder if Brooooon will agree to take part and rise to the occasion.

Stacey and co for the chop said...

Was it really a bad night for the Tories in Tameside.

You decide here are the votes they gained over the past few years.
2004 all out elections they only had two candidates in a three horse race one got 982 and the other got 967.
2006 1,012.
2007 719.
2008 912.
2009 667.
Even the best spin doctors would struggle with these figures.
Hear are some of the excuses and explanations so far.
Karen Wrights defection to Labour secured many Lib Dem votes.
The split in the Tory ranks was the problem.
The BNP took many Tory voters with them.
Labour have spent huge amounts of money and ploughed huge resources into this election.
Martin Wareing had a big impact on the way people voted.
Outside organisations helped Labour.
The postal votes did it for Labour its rigged in their favour.
Stacey and Liam Billington ruined it for us.
There will be more excuses over the next few days the figures above are the true facts they show an opposition party on the decline, the result can only be described as disastrous.
Their leader no matter what you think of him did try to and remove one of the problems Liam and his gang, they took control of this election and are part of the disaster.
John will have to take some harsh decisions very soon some so called members need to expelled, Roy Oldham would never have let this happen to Labour.

Dinosaur with a bite said...

Point taken, Joan and I did warn of this. We were branded ‘fossils’, dinosaurs’, and out of touch. Experience matters and the Ashton Amateurs gifted this election to Labour. John must expel the miscreants or face a vote of no confidence.

Tom Hatton said...

Roger Smythe - I take your criticism. My cockiness on here is reflective of the type of debate that goes on. I'm happy to enter in 'mature' debate but unfortunately many of the people who post comments don't do so in a mature way, hence, me fighting fire with fire.

Also,I think there is a danger people confuse an opinionated young person with a cocky young person.

Roger Smythe said...

Well said Tom. I for one am happy to see young people engaging in the democratic process/debate.

Yes Master Oldham, No Master Oldham... said...

You're right, Roy Oldham is a paragon with a miniscule ego.
His trouser pockets are his best feature, John Bell feels right at home in them.

The Bell's gone said...

Isn't politics a results based business? Time for Mr Bell to say goodbye as he clearly can't unify, organise or motivate his troops.

Tom Hatton said...

Has anybody actually considered asking the *tories* if they're disunited?

Stacey and co for the chop.....a message for you.

Stacey and co had no say in how this campaign was run, they had some brilliant ideas, but none were taken and used. "Stacey and co" did the majority of the footwork. Had the Conservatives (older variety) had worked the area as they should have done years ago then maybe we would know who the hell our voters are! But, like I said, the younger members are ignored.

Also, it's not up to John to "chop" any of the members. Liam resigned from the party and even if he was to get the "chop" then that decision ould have been made democratically by the Ashton members. John Bell will not and cannot dictate what happens in each branch. John Bell is only the leader of the Councillors although recently he has proved he's not up for the job. The people you speak of will be in the party for many years to come.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Inquisition said...

The Tories do need to ape Labour and find out who their vote is. Labour identified their crop of braindeath sufferers and used everything short of a grappling hook to get them out. Their manipulation of the utterly corrupt postal voting system also works for them. The Conservatives must have a new leader and need new blood but letting the terminally overambitious and a homosexual clique take over would be a huge mistake.

Tom Hatton said...

"..letting the terminally overambitious and a homosexual clique take over would be a huge mistake."

lol - love that quote

Labour hit the panic button said...

This is a very sinister development by a very sinister group of people. They are completely misguided in assuming BNP support is strongest on council estates but let them go ahead and give us even more publicity by barking up the wrong tree.

We will take control said...

The gay mafia are controling the Tories,(what's new)Denton was a disaster our vote went down by over 30% just like it did in Newton.
We have been asked to turn up all council meetings to show support for the party and councillors, most of us have we will not turn up if Liam and Stacey are there.
We have many years of hard work between us now we are just ignored.
Do you think we want to be represented by these people the answer is no and the two by elections prove our point.

Billy Bremner said...

The British National Party are turning on a brilliant show in Tameside.

Your all playing catch up said...

Just admit it Labour are brilliant in Tameside, and they have a great leader.

ABC said...

Labour hit the panic button, they won't follow through on any of it and these areas, particularly in areas with a weak local BNP presence will become increasingly 'enriched' with no thought for the indigenous residents, the areas character or history. Labour's bleating about the 'myths' of immigrants taking social housing stock totally misses the point and shows how out of touch they are. British citizens should be given priority over immigrants in housing allocation. Nationality before 'need'. There is only one Party that will implement this which is becoming increasingly obvious to Brits.

Labour til I die said...

Not a problem ABC you keep putting useless Ros up for election make it easy for us.

Anonymous said...

Gareth and Liam will be at the next full council so if that means others won't turn up then so be it. Gareth and Liam are the only ones who ever turn up anyway.

The Denton and Newton by-election was run by Joan, John Bell and Doreen. This is why we had such terrible results. The younger members wanted a final leaflet put out and for target areas of the ward canvessed. John Bell said he doen't believe in canvassing as it's a waste of time. No wonder we NEVER win in these wards! This is what we have to deal with! The younger element are growing tired of doing almost all the footwork without even a "thankyou" when they are ignored and bullied. We appreciate the older members have a wealth of knowlege we respect that. However, whatever it is you are doing, IT ISN'T WORKING! If we work together as a team and use some of the new ideas then maybe we would win. It seems the older members feel insecure that they will one day have to take a step back but that is along time away. None of us want to "take over", we'd just like to be counted so we can start to make progress. You call us "overambitious" but they said the same about Thatcher. There's nothing wrong with ambition but our main abition if for us to make more gains in Tameside. Please stop isolating the younger members. We are no threat to you just because we are the future of the party. You were once our age!

Not too easy Duki/Staly May '08 was it. A BNP paper candidate swung the result against Labour. but you know all about that.

Rotten Borough said...

Tameside's authorities spotted the LibDems dodgy paperwork. When outside agitators are brought in to benefit Labour however they appear to get a free hand to lie and smear en masse at will.

TMBC is a cesspit said...

Pretending to have integrity and having integrity are not the same thing.

fact1 said...

"Labour hit the panic button" refers to a newspaper article that claims the BNP is a far right party. They are not. They are a left wing party, hence their growing popularity with benefit cheats and their ilk on sink estates.

Stacey Knighton said...

After reading some of the comments on here I'd just like to point out there's not a split in the Tories at all. Whoever is posting these comments is talking utter rubbish.

Nationalist said...

Fact 1, make your mind up. One minute we're accused of wanting to gas the dregs of society because we're 'Nazis', the next they're our core vote. The truth is our support is more broad based than any Party.

What a Bell end said...

SK, you mean it was a united Tory campaign that returned that dreadful result. Jesus you are in trouble.

Tom Hatton said...

I support SK totally. That makes two young tories; there is no split - it's been invented by our opponents.

Bugger off said...

Puffs of a feather flock together. Tamesise's Tories have got more than the BBC.

Yorkshire Day was first celebrated in 1975 in the ancient East Riding town of Beverley by the Yorkshire Ridings Society to recognise the integrity of the county following the re-organisation of Local Government in 1974.

Yorkshire was the first county in England to have an official county day and the celebration is now marked in towns and cities across the region.

August 1 was chosen as it is the anniversary of the Battle of Minden fought during the Seven Years War.

On this day in 1759 soldiers from Yorkshire regiments picked white roses from bushes near to the battlefield as a tribute to their fallen comrades.

Each year members of the Yorkshire Ridings Society read a declaration of the integrity of Yorkshire.

For the first three years following Yorkshire Day’s creation, members of the society walked from Sedbergh to Spurn Point, near Hull, reading the declaration in each of the region’s three ridings.

Walking around York’s city walls was later found to be an easier way of passing through the three ridings and the declaration is now read facing into each one.

From 2007 readings were also held in York city centre

Who gives a toss about UKIP, but your dead right it is a poor showing from them.
What makes it even worse is that some fools actually voted for them, the BNP have squeezed them out now in Tameside there history.

If there is no split then why did John Bell tell a number of Labour Cllrs that he is furious with Stacey and Co for associating themselves with Liam?

Stacey could have been a real asset to the Tameside Tories if she had kept her head down and just got on with working hard and being polite to everyone. She could be fighting a marginal seat by now and have every chance of being elected next May.

Tut tut love.

There is a loss of confidence and lot of anger at John Bell due to his inability to deliver results. Why else would the bright young thing Knighton (along with Gareth Quinn and John Kelly) aline herself with Liam, who is currently John Bell's nemisis? This time last year Bell and Knighton were in each others pockets and Stacey was the heir to Werneth.

If this isn't a split then what is?

Stacey Knighton said...

I haven't alined myself with anyone. I try to be polite with everyone and I refuse to be ignorant with people who have done nothing to hurt me. I don't take sides and try to be fair to all.

I'm not after a "safe seat" or a "marginal" seat despite what some may think. I chose to stand in Waterloo because I'm looking at the bigger picture and the long term. If I keep chipping away at it and canvass the ward regularly, eventually we will win Waterloo in a couple of years time. The future of Tameside Tories is more important to me than my own personal gain. I have some excellent ideas for Waterloo and I'm really looking forward to the challenge.

Some of the comments on here about me are completely unfair. luckily I take it all with a pinch of salt in the knowlege they are made purely to cause a so called split and deter me from what I do. I welcome political debate and opinions on what I am or am not doing politically. However, I just ignore silly petty remarks and personal attacks as they're not worth my energy or attention.

Roll on Waterloo!
