Debate being stifled in Tameside?

I submitted a question for the Civic Panel at next Tameside Council Meeting due on Tuesday 14th April. I had it refused because the deadline was Thursday 2nd April, 5 full working days notice must be given and with weekends and Easter this stretches the deadline back to 2nd April.

OK, fair enough. BUT the agenda for the meeting MUST be on the website 5 working days before the council meeting. AS OF 8.45 TONIGHT IT WAS NOT THERE.

There is clearly an attempt to stifle debate by rigorously enforcing the 5 day deadline so we cannot comment on agenda items which the council is free to publish late.

I have been informed that there is no legal obligation to publish the agenda 5 working days in advance. It is just policy. None the less, the contrast between this policy not being strictly adhered to and the deadline being strictly appplied has been noticed.

Just been on the TMBC website. The agenda still not on but there is a link to it.

Their arguments are so weak they can't afford to get into a real debate.
