Britain could have the biggest population in Europe by 2050 and be the third biggest recipient of migrants in the world, UN projections suggest. They predict net immigration will average 174,000 a year up to 2050, swelling the population to 72 million. The UN predictions, based on the latest census and research from around the world, suggested Britain would be the worlds third biggest recipient of immigrants between 2010 and 2050. It would mean by 2050, Britain would have a population of nearly 72.4 million - overtaking Germany, whose population is projected to fall sharply over the period, as Europe's largest country. Although Germany's population is currently above 82 million, the UN suggests a combination of falling birth and rising mortality rates could see this drop to about 70 million by 2050. The researchers said the global economic crisis would only slow down migration rates temporarily. Labour MP Frank Field and Conservative Nicholas Soames - who campaign on the issue of immigration - said it was "more evidence of the pressure that uncontrolled immigration will place on our population, and therefore our quality of life". The vibrant patchwork of humanity which can be found across the country is what makes Britain such a fantastic place to live. When I visit any of our cities or towns with large immigrant populations I marvel at the sights and sounds and feel elated when experiencing the vibrant buzz of multi-culturalism. When I return home and see the usual boring old coffin dodgers and pub bores I realise what a grey and bland place Britain would be without the gift of multi-culturalism so kindly provided for us by the good people of the world who have come and settled on this cold rainy island.

Strength through Diversity, so all immigrants are wonderful, fascinating and give you a buzz etc etc and all British people are dull, boring etc etc. You would have really suffered in the mid 50's when we had something called national identity which gave us unity and strength. Can you explain how diversity gives us strength. If there is a national crisis all the faultlines between 'communities' will be exposed and rent asunder. Good strong 'boring' blankets hold together while 'vibrant patchworks' are easily torn apart.

Mixed race children are usually White/Afro-Caribbean. How many white/Asian mixed race children do you see especially in areas with a high percentage of Muslims? Virtually none as Islam forbids marriage with non-Muslims.
