Interesting, I wonder if the road is private or adopted, it looks a bit rough in the photo. Wonder who hired these cowboys.....In the mean time read what we know up to now.

National Clampers are a well-dodgey company.

The company is actually called "Lancashire Clamping Company Ltd" with registered office just moved from Preston to London.

Despite having an impressive web site (registered to Trevor Whitehouse the company founder) the company claims to be a "Total exemption small company" ie not subject to external auditing.

Even more interesting, company documents claim The company is controlled by Akenham Ltd, a company registered in the BVI (British Virgin Islands) but controlled from Gibralter by Spanish residents. Akenham ltd charging £25k for their services in the last year for which figures are available.

Lancashire Clamping outsource to Car park Security Ltd, a company under common control. Lancashire Clamping act for Akenham in the UK and charge THEM £12K for their services.

Phew!

If you want to see how Trevor Whitehouse spends his ill-gotten gains see:- http://www.thegreatloop.com/

He has a yacht called "Duty Free" and a Mobile phone 07709195400

give him a ring to ask how he justifies his living???

And there's more!

On their website at
http://www.national-clamps.com/index.php?section=services

We read the following

"All Vehicle Immobilisation and F.P.N issuing is carried out by Franchisees of Akenham Ltd.
Akenham Ltd registered office P.O Box 3188 Road Town British Virgin Isles Registration No. 18932. All content Copyright © National Clamps 2005-2006."

Of course, they will declare ALL their earnings to the tax man in the UK.

So who are these modern day highwaymen working for - TMBC?

Thanks for this. I was one of those clamped and had no choice but to pay £80 to get home or risk my car being towed away.

Personally I am annoyed that the Police when called would do nothing about it! Having to pay and then struggle through a claims procedure is not fair on public tax paying citizens!

The Police or council should be allowed to fine the company for doing this.

Need to check my ticket details at home but I think the dodgy clamping company have the road down as 'Waters Road' which is a different road off the road I was clamped on!

So you can imagine how hard this is going to be to get them to realise they clamped on the wrong road!

Dear clamping victim...for once TMBC are innocent.

Dear Alec, demand to see the SIA badge and / or licence for the person who clamped you. If they have not got one report them to the police.

How did you pay? If by cheque, stop it! If by Credit Card reverse the payment.

This is all a CIVIL matter, not a criminal matter. In theory you are being charged for the "damage" you caused to the owner of the road and you dispute the ammount

Why not ring Trevor Whitehouse on his mobile, unless he's changed it!
