New IT suite for Hyde

Hyde Bangladesh Welfare Association has opened the door onto IT for local people. Following a successful funding bid to Awards For All, the group has opened an IT training facility at its base on Chapel Street.Councillor John Sullivan opened the suite, which consists of 15 laptops and will be used by not only the Bangladeshi community by by all Tameside residents. Chairman of HBWA, Abdul Musabbir said: "I believe our community’s people would be benefited in their daily life by this training. I would like to invite our entire community to join these session to learn computer skills."Classes will be held every Tuesday, 1pm-3pm. The first men’s course is fully booked but there are still places on the women’s class. There will be different classes depending on ability level and they will be ongoing. Awards for all eh? And will all people have access to these new computers? I think you will find that in reality these computers will be used by ONLY members of the Hyde Bangladeshi Welfare Association.

On another point - this is the same quango that gave £8k to Sean Parker-Perry for Active Longdendale.
