Three burglars who forced their way a priest's home and punched him in the face before making off with church funds have been jailed. Father Francis Wadsworth, 37, was attacked as the men barged their way into St Ann's RC Presbytery in Ashton-Under-Lyne, Greater Manchester. The priest bit the hand of one of the thieves before they escaped. They admitted burglary and assault and were sentenced to four years in jail at Minshull Street Crown Court. The incident took place last November as Father Wadsworth returned to his home following a hospital visit. Brothers Paul Hands, 28, of Holebottom, Ashton-Under-Lyne, and Andrew Hands, 25, of Atlas Street, Ashton-Under-Lyne, and Stephen Hinchcliffe, 25, of Gambrel Bank Road, Ashton-Under-Lyne, were each sentenced to four years in prison for admitting burglary and assault. Hinchcliffe also pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to possession of a shotgun cartridge. The priest suffered bruising to his right eye and was left very shaken by the incident. DC Amanda Mercer, from Tameside CID, said: "This was a despicable and cowardly attack on a priest in his own home. "Father Wadsworth was left extremely distressed by the ordeal and I am sure he is now more reluctant to answer his door after dark now, which is a terrible feeling for someone to have, especially when they have such an important role in the community. The minimum sentence should ten years for these offences and that's the minimum they should serve then the courts should add on years depending on severity of the crime and take any other issues into consideration including any genuine remorse shown by the scum who did it.
Should the offend again after release it should be made very clear that its life in prison with no release life will mean life,any assets they may have had should be used to compensate their victims.
Other than doing this I can not see there being any deterrent, we could hang them I suppose what do you think.

I would guess many people would like to know why Mr West keeps going on about this person I am supposed to have met.
For many years I have been receiving huge amounts of unwanted mail and some strange mail and drawings these were published in the local paper I made an appeal to try and find the person doing it.
I got a call from this person in Hyde who told me he also received unwanted mail but he knew who sent it and that the police had been informed and visited the person accused a Mr West who lived on his street, he told me Mr West admitted to doing it and said that he sent him mail also it was tit for tat.
This man then came to my house with some of his letters and told me all about his dealings with Mr West clearly a long standing neighbour dispute and he told me that others in his street were sick to death of this man he than claimed that Mr West had left the family home and that he was under some sort of investigation he told me he had gone to live on Mottram road in Hyde he claimed domestic violence and other issues he would not tell me about.
I listened to him and thanked him for his response to the newspaper article I do not know his name and if he walked in front of me today I would not recognise him I then wrote to Mr West informing him of his visit and allegations the letter was signed by me with my address on it.
I have no problem with my meeting with him why would I ? and would meet him again if he had information for me.
I am now meeting two residents from Glenmore Grove who are telling me very similar stories about problems on their street I do not know their history but I have heard these stories before.
So when he post the same story over and over agin on this blog no matter what the subject you will now have some insight to what its all about.
There you have it folks John Taylor has no problem meeting with thugs that attack women and children in their home. Taylor will not tell you that this thug directed violence against my family,had killers at his house, a long list of convicted thugs at his house. The truth will continue to come out about Taylor's conduct in relation to the violence against my family at Werneth Avenue. Taylor is prepared to meet thugs that direct violence against people. This man that came to see Taylor forced my family out of our home by encouraging known thugs in the area to smash my windows on of them Carl Hyde along list of convictions to his name, Danny Sayers convicted twice in relation to the violence against my family. Taylor will meet this man again, well you should know who this man is and what he as been responsible for. Some of the most vicious vermin that the police wanted to get behind bars were regular visitors to this mans house. We were lucky no one was killed in relation to the constant violence directed by this man. No matter what people think of me and my politics, you should know who this man is that Taylor says he would meet again. 4 years of violence is a long time to have to endure. Taylor is a coward I have always said that, his meeting with the thug from Werneth Avenue will always show that to me.

This is what Taylor says. Yet this thug allowed the killers of a man from Godley in to his house. My family were the victims of crime on no less than 40 seperate occasions at Werneth Avenue. I also have this man on tape outside my house at Werneth Avenue with his son (Convicted) shouting going past my house.

Mr Taylor says it was tit for tat, well this is not the case as the convictions on one side can tell the fact. A man who allowed a string of convicted thugs in to his house and then would smash someones windows is not tit for tat. We came forward to give evidence in court against the thugs that this man was allowing in to his house, this is not tit for tat. If Taylor wants to continue to tell lies in relation to this man then lets lay it all out in public.
If the first post is indeed from Cllr Taylor, (I have no way of verifying the identification of posters on this blog) I would commend him for airing his thoughts on this sickening crime. If other elected representatives of political parties spoke their minds on important issues more often; maybe the general populace would start to take a bigger interest in the political process.

I watched this mans son hurl a brick at a passing car on Werneth Avenue, I watched a prosession of convicted thugs go in and out of this mans house. The police knocked on my door and asked me would I give evidence to get an asbo on one little thug that was a regular visitor to this mans house. Keith Roebuck Directed violence against my family for 4 years on Werneth Avenue, conviction after conviction against the thugs that were regular visitors to his house. When we came forward to give evidence in court against Carl Hyde, Michael Skeer, Keith Campbell, Michael Campbell, Danny Sayers, Imogen Makin and many more, the police could not truely protect us from on going violent attacks, this was because they were using Roebucks house as cover after smashing my windows. My children were showered with glass in the living room. We had to get New Charter Housing to put plastic on the windows so to protect us from flying glass. One of the scumbags Danny Sayers was always in Roebucks house, this little bastard was well known in the area he was also convicted for smashing the shop windows on Lilly street in Hyde. This gang went around Hyde causig fear, violence, and vandalism and it all came back to my family through this man tht Taylor said came to see him. I am very angry about this because we went to court over 35 times against these bastards. They even targeted a women with cancer. So I ask what kind of man would allow thugs like these in to their house? The man that went to see John Taylor.

Then you had Imogen Makin giving evidence against me, already convicted for two assaults on my wife in the street. Another witness Keith Campbell convicted at Manchester crown court for violence against my family.

Judge and jury where have you gone?
I have already answered these questions in court but no case to answer. It was farce of a court case that cost 50,000. The main witness was doing time for a street robbery. During the year long case that was brought against me by this neighbour called Roebuck, the main witnesses for the police and the CPS were being convicted for criminal damage, assault and putting my family in fear of violence. So you should direct any further direct any further questions to the police and the CPS as to why Roebuck and his violent thug followers were allowed to bring a case against me at the cost of 50,000 pounds to the taxpayer. Also, why were Roebuck and Hyde allowed to continue their violent attacks on my person and my home during this farce of a court case against me? So I say this to you, Judge and Jury, for the final time: Piss off and don't bother me with any more of your crap, because you're not going to get any more responses from me.
