Restaurant fined £14,000

A restaurant has been ordered to pay more than £14,000 after its `very poor' cleanliness standards infected 12 people with salmonella.Environmental health officers visited Fu's restaurant on Manchester Road, Mossley, and found cooked duck stored in cardboard boxes where raw poultry had been, dirty chopping boards and no cleaning or drying equipment for the hand basin near the staff toilets. The swoop followed complaints that people were suffering from food poisoning after eating at the restaurant.Directors of the Cantonese restaurant pleaded guilty to eight offences under food hygiene laws at Tameside magistrates' court. The incident came to light in June 2006 after eight people who dined at the restaurant suffered food poisoning and contacted Tameside Council environmental health department. Eventually, 12 complaints of salmonella were reported.A major shareholder said he didn't ensure staff had sufficient hygiene training because he had been trading 22 years without a problem. Environmental health officers gave managers lengthy advice and revisited the next day. Concerns remained and further swabs identified salmonella. The restaurant was closed down by way of an emergency prohibition. A specialist cleaning firm carried out a `deep clean' and the premises were allowed to re-open in September when there was deemed to be no more risk.Defending, Stephen Krebbs asked magistrates to take into account the director's early guilty pleas. He said: "At the time, Fu's was a busy and popular restaurant and there hadn't been any issues at all with the public in the time it was trading in Mossley."Sadly, there was this outbreak and it seems to have culminated in the loss of the manager. "It was a very busy restaurant and obviously procedures were not maintained at that time."He said although the restaurant tried to reopen, complying to all the regulations, it was `never the same again' and is now in the process of being deregistered.Fu's was fined £8,000 and made to pay costs of £6,763. John, you are a fucking mentalist.

Quote: John Taylor
"On Boxing day we saw the Tories out again breaking the law Fox Hunting, ok for them to break the law but not us, many Tory MPs agree with this law breaking and the Tories have pledged to repeal the ban if the get in again.

We need to hunt the fox they say its for their own good what they fail to say is that they enjoy the kill and thats what its all about,

Kill killl kill"

Must try harder!

Are your comments something to do with the letter I sent about you to the Tameside Advertiser and Reporter? Not nice is it?

I know the Advertiser did not publish the letter, but I have yet to see the reporter. I know what goes on with the editors passing on letters to councillors.

No John, but it looks very likely over the next three years that the BNP will actually make gains on lazy Labour councillors like yourself.

John, please stop copying and pasting stuff from your website. Why don't you create a blog yourself? Remember a blog allows you to respond through comments - unmoderated.
