State of the Area Address

Unfortunately I was unable to attend tonight’s State of the Area Address. If anyone reading this did, reports and comments would be most welcome.

Very interesting.

As I sat in the Civic Hall in the middle of the all white audience watching films of The British Army marching through Tameside I felt at home. The BNP could not have done it better.

Three cheers for Roy Oldham – Hip Hip – Hooray Hip Hip – Hooray Hip Hip – Hooray. Roy Oldham is the kind of man that is a very rare commodity within the Labour Party; a man of principles. Secretly Roy must despair at the way the Labour party has transformed into the Conservative Party MkII. I wish Roy all the best for the future and thank him for all the good work he has put in over the last three decades. Well done Roy Oldham.

Roy Oldham commented on the school building programme in Tameside.
This is part of a nationwide scheme to close existing schools and build new ones in areas where the catchment area is more 'diverse'.It is enforced desegregation.

The pilot scheme in Burnley has been a catastrophe.

Old Labour

I understand what you are saying, and can agree with a lot.

Cllr Oldham clearly dislikes the anti-social element that are rife in society today. He has respect for those in the past who left the area, the community, in a better state than they found it, the water engineers who gave us clean water in the 1840's were mentioned by Cllr Oldham. I agree.

What I cannot understand is that much of what is wrong in Tameside is as a result of The Labour Party's policy at National Level. Anti-social behaviour is encouraged by national policies such as abolishing the cane in school, asylum policy, prison overcrowding, alcohol licencing etc etc...Cllr Oldham avoids this issue.

Spot on! You are right.

Did you also catch the remark that Greater Manchester Pension Fund had bought lots of property around Stalybridge Station (Cllr Oldham is Chair of GMPF). Mmmmm wonder how they will fare regarding planning permission.

And finally, I still wonder how come it was an all white audience....and the BNP are criticised for doing the same thing!

Ten fuckin grand for something which has no use for the tax payers no wonder the main opposition boycott the event
Typical of Labour wasting tax payers money.
Oh and to say Roy Oldham is such a wonderfull person made me laugh he is a discrace to politics in fact
being the only CLLR in the country to have his own driver is not very "Working Class" in fact it's the opposite.
The sooner he retires the better and then he can have his Knighthood and bronze statue to go with with his brass map at further tax payers expense

Roy and Margaret are both past their sell by date.

Roy didn't have an operation so I am told because he was out on the piss the following day. Still, it didn't stop mad maggie from smoking like a trooper when she got ill.

I am sure Roy has got Old Timers (Alzheimers).
