A dog walker suffered a ruptured blood vessel in his eye after being attacked while trying to defend his pet.The man was walking his dog on Mellor Road, Ashton under Lyne near Stamford boating lake, when it was attacked by a Labrador cross breed.He stepped between the dogs to stop them fighting and was assaulted by the other owner.The attacker was white, about 6ft 2in, with short ginger hair and of large build.
