Cllr Oldham is a rare breed in his party. He actually appears to have principles and morals, something the vast majority of Labourites seem to be sadly lacking.

A little birdie tells me council leader Roy Oldham is going in hospital for a minor operation. If this is true; I would like to wish Cllr Oldham well and hope he has a speedy recovery. Not much...if any...loony left policies and some of his expressed views in council on anti-social behaviour and trendy lawyers who defend scum would raise a cheer in one of my meetings any day.
And he's a trained engineer, a REAL worker.
Oh yes, when he stood against the BNP in Longdendale he was more polite to the BNP candidate than Cllr Bell, the Tory leader.

You don't need councillors to be part of the political landscape.
Many organisations of an ethnic variety are part of the political landscape and their "community leaders" are routinely consulted.
In many areas of Tameside the BNP polled 18% to 22% of the vote in 2006 and / or 2007.
Thats a lot of people. Twice the percentage of the ethnic population in Tameside. So if the ethnic population are "part of the landscape" so are the BNP.

Hey Roy do you really want that ex borstal boy John Taylor to un do all that good work you have done as leader. Are you having a good laugh at Taylor wanting your job?
I have a theory that none of the current Labour councillors are in line for leadership.
Roy wants to retire, but doesn't want to see his glorified empire crumble in the hands of Kieran "Postal Strike" Quinn. They are all a bunch of thick bastards. Oldham does have some intelligence to him. I think he wants Paul Douthwaite (Ashton Hurst candidate and ex director of TMBC [JOBS FOR THE BOYS]) to take over. Afterall he does have the experience of internally running TMBC behind the public scenes as a director. Roy has stepped up his game against Hurst Tories and especially against the great Richard Ambler.

Actually Paul Douchewaite went for the Chief execs job, but failed. In a tantrum he resigned from his post and "retired" to take on some advisory panel role which he still makes a nice mint.

About time Roy Oldham got out of office he's had enough money from this town.He should be made to retire.About 4years ago he forced a woman cleaner to retire because she was at retiring age. So Roy Fuck Off and take your wife with you.
