Denton railway station is but a shadow of its former self. Once upon a time this was a busy station with three platforms and four lines. Today it is noted for its ludicrous timetable which sees just one train in one direction once a week. The line offers a number of route opportunities and if the rip-off congestion charge is ever introduced this station would be ideally suited for commuters travelling from other parts of Tameside who wish to commute by train to avoid paying the Labour stealth tax. The station is literally yards away from the M60 at Denton roundabout, if this station was ever revived parking could pose a problem - but there is a Sainsbury’s close by with a large car park that could be utilised. I think bringing this neglected station back to life would be a vote winner, does anyone viewing this blog have any thoughts on this?
