Barelvi Grave Dancers in Ashton under Lyne

What a fascinating ritual. From what I can gather after reading the comments beneath the video, these people belong to a sect which is an offshoot of Sunny Islam. Please remember that this appears to be an event commemorating a saint so no disrespectful comments.

Sunny Islam?

As opposed to rainy Islam, I'm guessing you mean Sunni.

Shia Islam always made more sense to me, it seems more ordered and less fanatical.

No more interested in this than I am in Hindu/Buddhist/Rastafarian/Shinto or Voodoo ceremonies. I wish they'd all go back where they came from and take their alien cultures with them.

Why do I get the feeling someone is up to no good with this particularly sensitive issue. I have informed the police of the potential troublemaker's possible intentions.

Does anyone agree with me that Brian May of the band Queen should be charged under the race hate laws (retrospectively, of course) for writing these hateful lyrics?

They've no right performing any such 'ceremonies' in a public cemetery. It's a place for quiet contemplation where people go to grieve, not some communal park where all are free to engage in multicultural frivolity. Imagine if one of your own loved ones was buried close by and on a visit you're having that scene paraded in your face.

I wonder if new charter would build houses on their graves?

Not a fucking chance of these graves being built on, and if the local Morris Dancers turned up banging sticks and jigging about in a cemetery they'd be stopped in short order.

In Pakistan the 'pure land' of Islam they're having a national crisis about...a 14 year old retarded girl who may have burned a few bits of paper from the Koran. What a fundamentally pathetic and regressive culture it is.

The revolutionary knows that in the very depths of his being, not only in words but also in deeds, he has broken all the bonds which tie him to the social order and the civilized world with all its laws, moralities, and customs, and with all its generally accepted conventions. He is their implacable enemy, and if he continues to live with them it is only in order to destroy them more speedily.

Why does this blog remind me of the twilight zone?

Wanting to get rid of the Tsar was entirely understandable but it didn't turn out very well for Comrade Nechayev's mindless destruction philosophy did it. Unless you consider the disaster and mass scale slaughter of Russian/Soviet communism 1917-1991 a success.

Hi MEL

Seeing those Asians in your story reminded me of our former MP for Hyde and Stalybridge. I remember how he spent a huge amount of time around Great Norbury Street in Hyde during the 2005 General Election.

By the way, how is your friend James Purnell these days? I've not seen him for a while; last I heard he was working for a Marxist "think tank" called Demos. Rumour has it he's thinking about making a political comeback. I doubt he'll be showing his face ever again in Hyde and Stalybridge lol. They'll probably find him a safe seat somewhere though, unfortunately!

It's a pity the Bay Horse pub in Newton is now closed; you could've met up there again to reminisce about the way you worked together during the Newton by-election in 2009.

"It's a pity the Bay Horse pub in Newton is now closed"

You mean the pub that doubled as a political propaganda billboard for the Labour Party during election time? I know the local pub is being consigned to the history books, but there's one joint that won't be missed. My advice to any other licensed premises out there is to not alienate any potential customers by audaciously broadcasting political allegiences, as it may not be good for business esp. when pubs are struggling to begin with.

And before someone informs me of the strong level of Labour support in Newton, in total over the last several years far more people did NOT vote Labour than those who did, and the combined vote for other parties was always greater than Labour's share. That may have been a worthwhile consideration for a struggling local boozer. But since your average Labour supporter is incapable of seeing beyond the end of their nose, come election time the red and yellows were always in full bloom for all to see at one very busy road junction.

TC here's a question for you and blog readers.
My neighbours cats are fouling in my garden. Am I in my rights to put his cats s*** in his garden? Cat mess can cause blindness in the young no?
Or alternatively I could buy an air gun and shoot them? It becomes a real problem with cats and a pain to clean up after them, when they are your neighbours cats.

Tameside Citizen said...

Of all the animals on this earth, cats really are the ones I do dislike. I have many times caught them lying in wait to ambush and kill unsuspecting birds. They are one of the few animals that kill for fun rather than food and I too must confess to have considered shooting them with an airgun, but when it come to the crunch I decided against. Firstly, however dislikeable domestic cats are, they are actually someone’s pet and secondly it is totally illegal to fire an airgun within 15m / 50ft of a public highway and the penalty for doing so if caught is a £1,000 fine.

The best way to keep away nuisance cats are probably deterrents such as these. They are non-lethal and should solve the problem.

The fox is a cunning animal that uses a pouncing technique that they learn from an early age to capture their prey.

The grey fox is one of only two canine species known to climb trees; I can't remember the other one. This ability to climb trees is an important weapon in the arsenal of the fox as it allows said fox to pounce from behind on the hapless unsuspecting victim.

Foxes are clever canines that employ deception and camouflage in order to outwit their potential prey.

Spies and foxes have a lot in common.

State-injected paranoia is an extremely effective anti-Nationalist weapon.
Is the infiltrator: the accused, the accuser or someone else altogether. Whatever, the resulting internal corrosiveness of self-perpetuating suspicion is extremely destructive.

Most people who dislike cats do so out of a sense of inferiority. The cat is invariably cleverer than they are.

Dogs are animals that go around in packs leaving crap everywhere. No wonder the chavs on sink-estates have a dog pemanently attached to them, they feel at home with them.

Cats bury their faeces anyway. Unlike dogs they are solitary creatures who rely on themselves, hence they are owned by superior beings like Bond vilains such as Ernst Stavros Blofeld.

tonydj said...

Of course, I could just be having a jest at the dog lobby....

Cats bury their faeces anyway not the cats shitting in my garden they don't.
RESPECT.........TO YOU ANYWAY.

Surely there must be something we can do, about our neighbours dogs barking from 6 in the morning all through the day?

Anonymous said...

I'm doing a video diary of the barking dogs to hand over to new charter. We can't even relax in the bath without dogs barking. It really is getting out of hand.

Muttley said...

You shouldn't be taking a bath with dogs to be fair, that is a bit weird.

Cats kill a massive amount of garden birds. It should be compulsory for all cats to wear a bell, the noise would prevent them creeping up on said birds.

He has however made considerable efforts in the cause of Nationalism over the past several years.
If the average Briton, concerned about the ongoing destruction of our country, made one fiftieth of the contribution West has made to 'doing something about it' the country wouldn't be in the appalling and exponentially worsening state it currently is.

@tonydj
Horses don't bury their faeces either, but that doesn't make them inferior to cats. Both cats and dogs are wonderful creatures albeit imperfect - just like humans!

@04/09/2012 12:38 thanks for the advice I've done that today. Thanks for the link on the growing cat shit menace.

@04/09/2012 20:49 these type of comments used to get to me, I don't mind to admit THAT. But now I really like them, AND look forward to reading them So give it your best shot.

But look on the bright side, 55m birds a year killed is an awful lot of Guano not dropping to the ground and landing on me. I've never been cr*pp*d on by a cat or dog but I've been guanoed on by several species of birds....wait a minute I've jusr realised, 55m animals that can FLY can't escape an animal that can only run?? Hmmm seems Darwin had a theory about that.
