A former Taliban fighter and a British Muslim convert who tried to recruit undercover police officers to fight a "jihad" against British soldiers in Afghanistan were today facing jail.
Pakistani-born British citizen Munir Farooqi, 54, was at the centre of a plot to radicalise and persuade the officers to "fight, kill and die" in a holy war in Afghanistan.
Farooqi, of Victoria Terrace, Longsight, Manchester, was convicted of preparing for acts of terrorism, three counts of soliciting to murder and one count of dissemination of terrorist publications, following a four month trial at Manchester Crown Court.
British Muslim convert Matthew Newton, 29, of Rydal Walk, Stalybridge, Tameside, was convicted of preparing for acts of terrorism and two counts of dissemination of terrorist publications. Read more on the Manchester Evening News website.

A rather sad reflection on the need of the human mind to seek purpose anywhere they can find it.
If this lardarse wants to find a purpose then perhaps he could fight the corruption of his nation by the mindbenders rather than adopting a foreign religion and trying to stop the building of an oil pipelines hundreds of miles away.

Islamic threat ok. But it's no bigger threat than we all face with home grown scum, holding many communities down in fear.
For many people, getting to the local shop at night safely is more of a concern.
Put all these 16 years upwards holding communities in fear, in the army they can go and fight the Muslims.
There are approximately 100 Muslims in the armed forces. Just one example of the fact that their loyalty lies elsewhere. They take what Britain has to offer and give no loyalty in return. They want domination not integration.
The UKIP conference is on. As they are the 'acceptable' face of nationalism can anyone explain why, given the obvious nature of what is happening re the EU and immigration in particuar, they aren't doing far better in terms of public support. No vitriol please just reasoned argument.
UKIP say they are 'civic' nationalists as a cover. There's only one type of nationalism.

These Muslim boys are cricket-loving, fish and chip eating, union flag waving Brits.
They support Pakistan at the cricket. I've never seen one in a chippy. I wouldn't touch their Halal muck with the barbaric way they slaughter animals. And that should be Union Jack burning not waving.
